In June 2021, I had the incredible opportunity to help in the making of Marco Dalla Villa's music video for his new track Baltasound. The location is on the island of Unst in the Shetland Islands so we spent a long weekend up in the northernmost islands of Britain and exploring and seeing the best of what the islands have to offer. From incredible scenery, ancient ruins, world class beaches, an abundance of wildlife and even a gin distillery!

How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these TH-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

I’m fae Shetland and it’s good to see that folk are coming and enjoying it here, I’ve been here my whole life and It’s really funny when somebody fae down south comes up and canna understand the Shetlanders with very strong Shetland dialect and most o’ us can switch between Shetland dialect and just normal English

That's like saying the Englands or Scotlands.
It's just Shetland :)
And we're not "part of the country".
There's no legal document in existance that makes Shetland a part of Scotland.

@@tankthepitbull520 Techically we belong to the Kingdom of Norway. The Old Norse name for Shetland is "Hjaltland" and indeed in Iceland that's still our name. There's a fjord north of Bergen called "Hjeltefjorden" and it means "the Shetland fjord"(the fjord to Shetland)..
It truly is an amazing place, we visited for the first time 2 months ago and we were blown away by the landscapes you truly feel on the edge on the world!! We did the 14 hour ferry and you felt every hour of it!! Honestly the history and geography on these islands are incredible!!

Quite simply glorious. The best place in the whole wide world. And I was lucky enough to spend 2 years there during my Royal Air Force career. The beautiful nature of the wonderful native island people and their musical dialect seem to be the only thing these young people haven't included in their excellent film.

Oh wow the island looks beautiful! Great vlog once again 😍 By the way, I'm from Finland and after ice swimming you can feel quite warm. Even if you're just outside in your swimsuit in the middle of the winter there's no rush back into the sauna since it feels so warm. I guess that's what happened during your morning swim as well. Maybe something to do with blood circulation :)

They've repaired that old fog horn at sumburgh head in recent years. That In itself is a spectacle to behold.

@@BackpackingBananas just piping in here as a Shetlander and someone who loves history, this is actually not unusual. Due to home evictions in the 19th century many Shetlanders, much like those from the rest of the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, emigrated to Australia and Canada. So we find a lot of Australians and Canadians who's ancestors were Shetlanders coming to visit 😊

She was right :) Locals absolutely HATE when it's called "the Shetlands". It's just "Shetland" but if you're going to call it anything else then the Shetland islands is perfectly fine
