    What sculpting app did you first sculpt with and what mobile app did you try first?

      I first started digital sculpting with Nomad Sculpt on the iPad thanks to your courses Glen! Now I’m able to 3D print those sculpts. I have links to your site and David Reeds on my channel as you both have really taught and inspired me.

      Zbrush first. The interface is peculiar, as everybody who has used it knows. It's the kind of thing where you learn how to use it, stop using it awhile, then come back, and find that you have to re-learn how to get around in it. I sculpted a couple of cool things with it. I really wanted something mobile though. I got Forger but didn't do anything with it. I got a couple of polygon modelers on the iPad but they're all dead now. Now I have Nomad and I've done several cool things with that. I'd like polygon-modeling features too though, which is why Uniform looks interesting. But man that interface is daunting. I found myself watching the dev's tutorial, thinking "that's really powerful, but if the procreate people had exposed the power of their brushes the same way, we'd never use them."

      I've got about the same history, to a point: LightWave on an Amiga4060T until Commdore fell apart, right as I was giving up on Apple after that 1998 iMac boat anchor thing; moved over to Wintel around LightWave5.6 and stuck with that until it pretty much went abandonware a couple years ago; looked at ZBrush in 1999 and hated it, so I stuck with LightWave and C4D a little; recently moved to Blender, which isn't terrible; grabbed that XPPen Android thing a week ago and opened Nomad for the first time, and I'm thrilled with that so far. So it's all working out after all.

      Blender using a Wacom tablet, and I was successful at the attempt after much trial and error. Even 3D printed it. Nomad is way better and intuitive for basic sculpting. So far I haven't gone back to blender for anything, even though it has a lot of features. Any accurate hard surface modeling needs I use Fusion 360. I've created over 300 models in so far, over half are sculpts. Your tutorials make the learning curve quite a bit easier!

      Zbrush was my first, I tried Mudbox, but it wasn't until Nomad sculpt that I felt comfortable sculpting. My first sketching app on a mobile tablet was sketchbook pro, but procreate is so much better.

    I’ve just got an ipad air M2 13” with nomad sculpt. I use it mostly for creating models to 3D print and then cover them in copper by using a process called electroforming. It turns digital objects into real life metal coated objects that will out live me. I think thats pretty cool and something A.I can’t do….yet😂

    • @bren8k
      @bren8k 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah electroplating is interesting but looks expensive to get in to

    • @spongeknock7387
      @spongeknock7387 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bren8kits not too expensive compared to a ipad😂. it cost me about £450 for a full set up that i put together myself. It’s just hard to get all the chemicals and bits and bobs in the uk. So you have to really want to do it by sourcing them out side the uk. If you get a pre-made kit it will cost in the £1000’s so yeah it can be expensive.

      @@spongeknock7387 wow I would love to look into that. I print then cold cast but wouldn’t know where to start with electroforming

    I can't wait for zbrush I hope they built it from the ground up because the confusing interface is what always stopped me. Nomad sculpt however made it incredibly easy to just jump in and start sculpting.

    Hello, thanks for nice video again. What about Procreate’s 3d model painting feature? Also are you going to make videos about painting apps like Armor Paint or Substance Design etc. Thanks.

    @SouthernGFX Thank you for sharing a video about the development history of mobile sculpting! Finally someone has summarized the field of mobile sculpting!I have tried many of the mobile sculpting tools mentioned in the video, such as Forger, Valence3D, and CozyBlanket. So far, the most frequently used one is Nomad Sculpt on iPad Pro and Blender on PC. As a sculpting enthusiast, it is a great blessing to be able to use both Nomad Sculpt and ZBrush For iPad, two excellent mobile sculpting tools today. If Apple launches a 16-inch iPad Pro, I will buy it as soon as possible too😀.I look forward to seeing your ZBrush For iPad course soon, and I hope that the mobile sculpting business field will accelerate in the future.

    Yes, many of us wish Apple would create larger iPads, even if the volumes would be small, selling mostly to creative industries, including architectural visualization. An iPad “Ultra”, at 16” would sell well and, yes, be expensive. However, I’d like to suggest an “iPad Studio” model, at 24” or, better yet” 27” (in the vain of the “Microsoft Surface Studio”), for larger, professional creative workflow. This “Studio” product would probably be insanely expensive, probably $3000 to $5000 (ugh!).

    I remember the toshiba, I was in studying Industrial design when those came put. We had one or 2 in the ID office that we could borrow. I didn't discover zbrush til 2005. I found it amazing I never really made musch headway because the interdlface was confusing and I barely had time to sleep when studying ID. We had several conpaby sponsored design projects running every semester, plus other classes trips to manufacturing facilities. So, I barely had time to sleep with all the sketching, prototyping, modelling, and presentations we were doing. I actually had to take a class at Sheridan College with Bobby Chui to learn digital painting since it wasn't being taught in my program. Good old markers and chalk rendering. My first tablet was a wacom graphire that I only had for a couple of weeks before I upgraded to an intuous 3 when I discovered the difference after trying a classmate's intuous.

    I'm using a Samsung S8 Ultra Tablet for Nomad Sculpt... lots of room for activities. No RAM issues. I doubt any of the mentioned coming mobile apps will be ported to Android.
