When I laugh really loud, mine goes right away to her toy and brings it to me to play... so I definitely think that our energy can trigger the zoomies and I find them really funny 🤣

My pugley of 16 years got zoomies every time after a bath. Even when she got older. She does zoomies in heaven now🌈💔. I have a 5 month old boston Marley now she does zoomies at random times usually when playing or going outside. I always thought it was a sign of happiness 😊. A lot of animals actually do it horses, cows, pigs, etc.

My oldest Boston, who is 12 ½, still does “zoomies” occasionally. Usually when my 7-yr-old Boston is doing them indoors. The older dogs’ sessions last only seconds.

Thank you! I LOVE the ZOOM. My 2 YO Staffordshire Terrier is 2 years old. He loves to soon. He and I have arrived at a way he can safely zoom n his leash (we live in a city with leash requirements). Often he is simply expending energy. Sometimes he’s showing off for a neighbor. Lately, I’m pretty certain he is zooming to stimulate his digestion to do his business. It has been especially cold here in Clayton, MO and there has been fewer long walks and sniff around opportunities. The movement of the zoom assists in stimulating gut peristalsis for effective bowel evacuation. Plus they are so fun to watch. Next sweet pooch I get is going to be a Boston Terrier. Precious breed.

I loved Zoomies! We used to say Wild Dog & ours would take off & if she was already doing Zoomies we could say Wild Dog & she’s get even wilder, she loved it & we did too, so funny. She’s 14 now and her Zoomies are going in Circles in the Living Room once in a while, she goes one way then will change & go the other way, still so funny. At her age not very playful but still has her moments sometimes when she’s ready to play a little. Love our sweet girl. 👏🏼♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😍

My 7 yr old Boston doesn't do full zoomies. He does let off steam daily by trying to have me catch him bye running at me and then away...He grunts and acts tough while he's doing this. Its adorable...

My boston Max loves to get the zoomies when he knows he has something he's not supposed to have, and makes you chase him around until I can catch him and take whatever he has that he's not supposed to have, or there are some nights where its before my husband and I go to bed that he'll just run around the room in a huge circle to tire himself out. It doesn't happen as much now that we have a new pug for him to play with, but the chasing zoomie does still occur. Its very frustrating because he'll try to eat glass or something and if its in his mouth, he'll make you chase him until you catch him.

My 12 week old BT, Buster, already does Zoomies practically every day. He's got a lot of energy and since he's too young to go to the dog park yet, it's a fun and hilarious way to get his ya-yas out! It makes me laugh every time. Sometimes he'll run through the house, behind the couch and around a few times. Very funny!

This was the nightly entertainment for my family and myself when our three Bostons would do it. Yes, each of our three stopped doing it as they got older. Oddly enough, Bodie the Chihuahua I’m currently baby sitting, shocked me when we came back from a short walk around 6:15pm yesterday. He is 8 lbs. and not a youngster anymore, but maybe the fact that this is only the second day in a row that I have actually been taking him outside to walk instead of vegging out on the recliner, could have been a release of pent up energy. He went wild for about 5 minutes, jumping on and off of the recliner and zooming around the room.

Zoomies = cuteness! One of my family's dogs does it all the time! She's our cute little ball of energy! Quick question, why do dogs sneeze when they're excited?

  • @richardwiesenthal9533
    @richardwiesenthal9533 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Our dog is triggered by laughter. If he is doing some thing and I start to laugh he looks at me and then he breaks into zoomies and he particularly likes if I put my hands down towards the floor and make a circle with my arms he will jump through them and jump back the other way.

We always called them tantrums when Buster did them- he was the boston we had when I was a teen. He would mostly do them when we were playing- we would roll him over continuously until he would get mad and start running. He had a specific route he would do every night- and when we took the furniture away years later, we could see the marks where he would bounce off the walls. My current Boston, Polly, does it when she plays with specific toys- not sure why.

This is an interesting comment. Our boston did zoomies like clockwork every night UNTIL she learned to use the doggie door to GO. That was at 6 mos and the inside accidents, along with frequency of zoomies, decreased noticeably. She is a year now and zoomies has toned down to 9pm hyperexcitement rather than blind, crazed zoomies. Her eyes turn sort of bloodshot during these high energy and demanding playtimes. I think she looks like a demondog and take cover. One note is that our boston has several outdoor, vigorous play times every day with people and other dogs in our community dog park. The time of day IS the trigger. Our boston can tell time!

Love zoomies! What kind of monster doesn't?!? Our Pebbles does them more outside in the summer (hard to do in winter in 2 feet of snow) but occasionally does them inside too. But one thing she does every single day is frolic on the stair landing (the one spot where we have carpet in the house). She'll just roll on her back and push herself around in circles... It's even more amusing than zoomies!

Zoomies are pretty funny until you take your Boston out to the agility course for a lesson and halfway through the lesson they get the zoomies. You may as well grab a chair, have a cool drink etc. and wait until they get it out of their system. 😭

I love that you guys call this phenomenon ZOOMIES! Cracks me up! One of the finer things in life to observe. Our Boston Terrier Iven does ZOOMIES all the time! He's gonna be 7 in April and still does them on the regular! My wife gets so sad about Bella and the fact that you say she doesn't or hadn't done them in years. Literally, makes her cry thinking of this happening to Iven - because he's getting older - but so far shows no signs of lack of youth. Which reminds me - we had a beloved Pit Bull named Tasha...she was amazing all around. Did ZOOMIES most of her life - like clockwork and like Iven (still everyday), ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS AFTER EACH DUMP! ALWAYS! It's fantastic and hilarious. Whether we stay in the yard, or go back inside the house, right after the #2 business is done: 3,2,1...ZOOMIES!

We had a toy poodle that always did zoomies until he got older and had hip problems. 90% of the time he did it to get rid of energy over something he was excited about. If you mentioned going to grandma's, he would do 5-10 zoomies around the dinning room table until he stopped and hyperventilated. He was more excited about getting to go to grandma's than people who just won the lottery jackpot do. In my experience, it was the only was to get out that much energy.

When Chandler was 1-3 years old, she would do zoomies every morning when she first got out of her house. She was like the cartoon Tasmanian devil - just a whirlwind. And the an internal switch would get flipped and she'd crash and wait quietly for breakfast and usually look for my lap to rest up from it. She's 7 now and zoomies are very much a thing of the past.

@@MultiCassie12345 I feel like we are on the exact same page about this one lol. My mom says Polo is literally and figuratively hard headed. He gets so excited about going outside that sometimes he gets past me in the hallway and literally runs DOWN the stairs which is a problem because the front door is only about 4 feet away from the bottom step and since he's running by the bottom he's moving so fast he jumps past the last 2 or 3 stairs and lands then slides headfirst into the closed door. It looks as horrible as it sounds. The first few times I was sure he broke his neck but he's been doing it for 3 years now and he always just shakes his head and makes a "haarumph" noise and carries on.

You do yourselves a favour and get a teaser toy and have controlled zoomies! They can be dangerous if they fall or jump off somewhere high...

Mine does that with her boyfriend, a dachshund mix--both 1 yr olds. They body wrestle and bite and wiggle around each other, but my boston is much more agile and does incredible pretzel and body rolls!

I have a Boston that eats anything cloth. She even likes to chew her toys through cloth. She then tries to eat it. She had to have surgery one to remove her blanket from her belly. I cannot leave her alone with a blanket or anything cloth. I hate it bc I crate her when I have too but I feel bad she cant have anything with her. Anyone else experience this.
