The Royal Albert Hall is a VERY prestigious venue in London to perform in - it's the best in the UK. Like if you perform there you've MADE it. She is also performing with the London philharmonic orchestra who are the BEST in the UK. So basically 2 for 2. 😊 She did a live version of her album with them which is amazing. Raye has many hats - she is an accomplished songwriter (has written for so many big names), vocalist, musician and she also enjoys production too. She is now independent after being trapped in a contract with a record label who wouldn't let her release music - they only allowed her to be a featured artist on dance singles. All of her live performances are excellent. Her SNL performances are fabulous, her performance of a it's a man's world at the AMAs was great, her BRITs medley, her performance of the thrill is gone at the Mercury Awards is fabulous, her cover of feeling good (triple j performance), her tiny desk performance and her performance of worth it at the Hilton in London is beautiful. She never performs her songs in the same way twice and she is very creative with her musical arrangements too - very cool! She is also British ghanian swisse 😊 Love from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤
Fringe Pop, but certainly on the good side where Pop songs can be deep and have diversity. My first exposure to Raye as well, and I very much enjoyed her performance and her lyrics. 🧸
Her whole debut album My 21st century blues is fire , watch her most recent single Genesis 7 mins of art, Flip a Switch video rap/hip hop/pop Woman power and for Jazz Swing her live performance of Worth It at the Hilton Hotel
Royal Albert Hall is THE prestige venue in London, England. Think Madison Square Garden, for a reference from the US. Raye is just phenomenal, isn't she? Very, very worth exploring her catalog of work, for sure :)
Maybe “fame-wise” it can be compared to MSG but that venue was built for music with the giant pipes (organ) it has so more like Carnegie Hall but even that doesn’t add up to RAH but it’s pretty close.
@@tyty__ty I’ve been to RAH plenty of times and no matter what you’re watching or where you are in the hall you can hear everything perfectly, even with a full orchestra each instrument can be heard. Certainly the best venue I’ve been to.
Clicking off the video to see Amy in the background did something to me because she’s gotten that comparison so much 😭 Raye is a true musical genius and I hope she gets even more recognition for her talent!
Also think you would love her video and song "Genesis" - it's a poignant commentary on social media and other topical issues. The video is incredible and the song combines several different genres. Very creative and different X
Hey Johnny, I've been waiting for this, been one of those who suggested her to you, I think it was Ren - Money Ties. I don't know if Ren is aware of RAYE (suppose he is after she won six Brit Awards in one night in 2024, more than anyone else before, and also her being the first woman to win the Brit Award for Best Songwriter ever... - Or if RAYE ever heard of Ren...who knows?) I know the Xtina Aguilera is a huge fan of RAYE... I just happen to love great music and real artists, that's why I'm following your reactions to Ren, or Chinchilla, or Angelina Jordan, different as they are, and suggested RAYE there, as I was watching anyway, always enjoy your comments! You mentioned Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse, who both were an inspiration for both AJ and RAYE. RAYE says her favorite artist is Nina Simone, both she and AJ did a cover of "Feeling Good"... Man, you're in for a journey! For me RAYE is the most exciting discovery of 2024 (I know AJ close to 5 years now and Ren since the release of Hi Ren, had initiated the first reactions only few days later...), I'm in for about half a year now and I don't even know where to start, there are so many incredibly good and intense recordings by her, also in so many different settings, and both her studio album and MVs and EPs are great, but so are her live shows, and she never does a song the same way twice, so what you'll get from a video might be completely different live on stage, or in an acoustic version with just her and her piano, or a guitarist... Great core band as well... Music doesn't get much better! So, just some an essentials to give you an idea about where to go... - Brit Awards Medley - Genesis MV - It's A man's World (James Brown cover) live at Montreux - Feeling Good (Nina Simone cover) live acoustic for Like A Version (triple j) - Buss It Down live at Royal Albert Hall - Worth It live at London Hilton - her SNL performances - Escapism MV - Hard Out Here MV compared to live - All Dressed Up acoustic ... I'll come back and suggest more when you're done with these, this is just the tip of the iceberg... Her story is incredible as well, but you better read her Wikipedia for that... Peace and love from BavaRAYEa, can't wait for the next one!
It’s the world famous royal Albert hall in London. One of the best concert venues in the world. The acoustics are insane with the sound bouncing back off the ceiling domes. Ray is an amazing talent and we’re very proud of her across the pond 🇬🇧 Great reaction 👍🏻
Others have commented about her and the venue, but there’s still a few days left to vote for her (and The Warning) in the European VMAs, though I expect Ms Swift will sweep the board again!!!
i love discovering new channels by searching reactions to raye, and i can tell sir that u have stumbled upon a gem right here. her discography goes from rap to pop to jazz to blues with a hint of opera, and she does it best. apart from the amazing album she has, the live performances are the thing that hook u up to her voice, and i would say her "tiny desk concert" definitely shows her range
Def goosebump-worthy! Your fellow reactor Ashlena was always talking about Raye (I thought she meant Lana Del Rey, duh 🙄). Then I figured it out and checked her out, amazing! More Raye please, Johnny! 🙌🔥👍
OMG LOVED YOUR REACTION PLEASE REACT TO ALL OF HER PERFORMANCES AT THIS VENUE SHE PERFORMS HER ENTIRE ALBUM HERE ALSO REACT TO HER PERFORMANCE AT THE BRIT AWARDS SHE PERFORMS - ice cream man, Prada and escapism and it’s an amazing mash up She also won 6/7 awards that night which was an all time record ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Raye is fire! Check out her medley at brit awards. That performance is sick! 🔥 And if you want more women who rocks, please check out ”Feist - Secret Heart” its a performance I can go watch over and over again.
You get invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. It has the best acoustics in the world. Music artists includes Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Oscar Peterson, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Sting and Elton John and from a younger generation Adele, Jay Z, Kaiser Chiefs and the Killers. Hayley from Paramour said it's the one venue that was a pinch me am I really on this stage. It also holds The proms there every year. As well as major military shows. The Royal Albert is regarded as the Holy Grail for musicians and performers. I've seen Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior with Liza Minelli on the same bill there. Listening to PINK FLOYD there is just ear orgasm time.
Oh bro everybody reacting to this one!!! Let’s gooo
Yeah, is Johnny cribbing off of you????
@ I think the Raye fans are just out here spreading the good word!

@@tyty__ty agreed, Carnegie Hall is probably the most apt comparison. MSG was the first that sprung to mind, fame-wise :)
