The Curious Case Of Christian Braun

  • Christian Braun is a defensive wizard from the Kansas City metropolitan area. Last season he was a key two way piece to the Jayhawks path to winning a national championship.
    This past summer he was selected 21st overall by the Denver Nuggets and has shown that he can stay in this league.
    In this video I went over CB’s tremendous defensive impact. What makes Braun so good defensively is his frame, athleticism, motor, and most importantly his feel and intelligence.
    If you genuinely enjoyed the video a like would be appreciated

    Braun has every tool you could possibly want in a guy to play along side Jokic.
    He is already a great defender, he can shoot, has size & is hyper athletic.
    Him making the rotation for a team in the Finals says a lot about him as a Rookie.

    Just came by here cus I'm blown away with how Braun plays. I literally wanted him on my Heat since I saw him in the Final Four and then winning the chip with Kansas. I was hoping we draft him but didn't. He has Heat Culture in him and is showing it in Denver. Two things for you Nuggets fans: 1 Congratulations on winning your 1st title, don't sleep on it cus it's hard to get there. 2 Treasure C Braun, he's special.

      I wish that Zeke Nnaji was better as a team defender and rebounder because I've seen him stay in front of some very quick guards and wings, recover quickly and contest well, but he just gets lost sometimes and doesn't always know when to help.
      I'm glad he's getting more minutes though. He's also a good spot up shooter.

    • @LLawliet-tv9ig
      @LLawliet-tv9ig ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The dream scenario is to have Braun, Watson, Kamagate, and maybe even Collin Gillespie in the rotation next season. Not exactly all 4 of them at once coming off the bench playing together, but just getting consistent minutes and finding their roles off the bench. It's going to be tough because Malone hate playing young players especially ones who do not have much NBA experience. But there's a legit argument that all 4 of them deserves NBA minutes and can really help out the Nuggets bench. They are also not bad players to stagger among the starters. For instance, Kamagate can play the backup center while Jokic rest but can also stagger with Jokic due to Kamagate's rim protection. I feel like Christian Braun is already a guaranteed rotational player, but for some odd reason he only played 3 minutes against the Timberwolves last night. And while I do think Zeke Nnaji is a great player for us, Malone isn't utilizing him correctly. He needs to be utilized as a dynamic forward who can pick and pop, not a rim running backup center. I don't think he can never be the backup center for us because he's not an elite rebounder hence we still have DeAndre Jordan on the team. I can't wait to watch Watson and Kamagate play in the NBA. They're the real deal. Also, all the rookies we have drafted this year have one common theme. They're all tenacious and versatile defenders who have shown two-way abilities. The rest is just about unlocking those potential and whether or not we have a coach who knows how to integrate those players into our system.

    • @juzta
      @juzta  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LLawliet-tv9ig You basically nailed it lol. While I do think Collin might be whatever, Pwat and CB def bring that defensive versatility we need. CB is our guard defender who takes up the touch matchups out west (Booker, Luka, Shai, Ja, Steph etc.) And Pwat is our wing stopper we’ve been looking for in the past decade in a half atp. Also, Peyton has shown legit creation flashes and potential in the GL, which could be scary if he keeps tapping onto it since we need another creator. And for Kamagate, like you said, he’s the rim protector and playfinsher we need alongside Jokic and to backup jokic, If he ever becomes A quality role player i could see a world in which he starts alongside Nikola. And Zeke is fine, his defense is good in spurts but is bad in others. He’s a legit playfinsher and one of the best shooting bigs in the league, but we can’t have him as a pure dunking spot merchant and post merchant. An inside-out threat who has post creation and elite shooting whilst being a positive defender is what we need from him.

He undoubtedly has helped the defense, and it looks promising as he is just a rookie. However whenever I watch when he is in the game, I don’t have much confidence when he touches or shoots the ball. Right now I'm expecting the main bench lineup to be Bones, Brown, Braun, Green, and Ismael. And if let's say, Jamal is injured and we move Brown up to starting pg, then we can run Bones, Braun, peyton Green, Ismael. If Jamal is still injured and bones' shot isn't falling and he hasn't developed as a playmaker, boom, we can run Gillespie, Braun, Peyton, Green, Ismael. If Uncle Jeff's age finally catches up with him, we can run with Nnaji or chucky, if we need to run small ball for whatever reason, again, Nnaji and/or chucky. Any way, while our starters are 100% a lock, as they should be. I haven't been this excited about our young guys in a long time

      You’re absolutely right man. We have kamagate coming over and that’s the rim protector we need. And Peyton has been great in the GL and has shown some creation flashes. But his defense is what we truly need as a 6’8 Wing stopper. And Zeke is still one of the best shooting bigs in the league, plus his defense is a positive. Once Malone figures it out we will be a legit contender

      Man that would be crazy. But i could see a bigger caruso, Wesley matthews type for sure. He won’t have Jimmy’s offense sadly

      @@juzta I get why you say that, but his attitude reminds me alot if Jimmy's. They both came in known for their defense. Christian's offense is just more polished

      @@youngmelo1841 oh yea lol. CB is a huge trash talker and has a legit sailors mouth. Wish he played with more confidence and swagger like he did at Rock Chalk. But i think he will add that along the way

    He scored 15 in 19min in game 3 of the finals. If he played the whole game that would be 37pts
    Zion 0pts and $200M pay

    You can’t be a “horrible defensive team“ and then win an NBA finals. You have to have some sort of aptitude there.

    Dude, I love CB, but he's not a better defensive player than AG or KCP.
    I think he's got the potential to have a Jaylen Brown like trajectory.

    I was not surprised one bit, i wanted him all year before he was drafted..i knew he would fit like a glove. If he was black he been a lotto pick but harder for white guys to get recognition.. heck even Nikola Jokic, dude was winning mvps and he could not get uis flowers until he won it all but thrn i see guys liek Anthony Edwards,Joel Embiid be given their flowers and winning then doesnt mattwrm its hard out here for white players. Look at Luka Garza, he proven he can play in NBA but still has to be on a two way after a College hall of fame worthy career.
