I'm an 8th grader in algebra and just watched this video and it helped me a lot now i understand it! Now I can go to class an explain it correctly and she will be proud of me!
it's the line that best represents the "trend" of the direction of the line; you can use any two points but always try to pick two points such that when you draw a line through them the line best fits the overall pattern
Thank you so much, best teacher ever!! I was so lost with my scatter plots, but u completely cleared it up for me! thanks for a good-quality, helpful video:)!!!
Seeing this video is like the feeling you get when you slip into a hot bath at the end of a long day. You're like "Ahhhh." That's better! Finally understood this after reading and re-reading my textbook!
I understand your point. However there is a bit of "eye-balling" when we find the lines in a scatter plot- it's always good to estimate solutions in math.
OOMG THIS HELPED SO MUCH and i mean my teachers a transfered Man for haiti with a college education. hes top notch but sometimes im kinda confused with what hes saying and the mans Totally certified, I mean has worked pretty much all his life xD. but this is great CAnt wait for school tommorow
You stopped where I needed you most. I did learn something. I know that the Linear Line thing is a general representation of the dots. But I have questions. Moving, the formula that you started Y=mx+b, I really wished you would have completed this. This is where I am stuck, no one does this, You all assume that we are knowledgeable; not even close. Thank you.
+Casey Horton This video wasnt really meant to teach coordinates and lines on a plane. y = mx + b means that if you pick a point on a line, say (2,5), and you plug it in to the equation above, you can find the line. so the y value is 5 and the x value is 2. Before you can do anything with this though, you need the slope of the line (m) OR the y intercept (b) in order to solve the equation. lets say the slope is 4. in the end, we have the equation: 5 = (4 x 2) + b. simplified, this is 5 = 8 + b. Solve for b: 5 - 8 = b. b = -3. When you know where the line crosses the y axis, in this case, (0, -3), and the slope, in this case, 4/1, (4 units to the right and 1 unit up,) you can plot enough points to give you a linear line. Sorry if you dont understand just from this, its much easier to explain when you have a diagram :)
Hi- no a best fitting line never has to go though (0, 0) but it's a nice point to use if it's on the best trend of the line. Yes when you draw a line through points A and D the line will extend pas those points; if you just connect the two points but did not extend this would be a "line segment" and not a line; this topic deals with "lines" best of luck!
I have a question please. Does the line of best fit for a graph of positive correlation HAVE to go through 0,0? Also, if a question says draw the line of best fit through points from point A and D, this means that you are not supposed to extend it more than that? Thanks for any help you can give
There was an Audi ad before the clip started for me and I watched the whole thing just because I hate math so much I came to here to learn shit i should know. Im bad at math.
Can u show how to draw a best fit line starting with the heartbeat start line and from there to draw a line? That was confusing in one of my past test,.
THE GRAPH IS WRONG!!! Good stuff but remember about 0... his graph goes like this... 0+1, then 1+2... See what's wrong??? It has to have a constant increase.

I'm a 8th grader now and I'm going through the same thing I hope I can get things right wish me luck
Good job and good luck to both of you (I’m in grade 9)
But is what you guys are supposed to be learning 😮😮
WAIT STOP THE END HELPED ME SO MUCH THANK YOU WHAT
I’m here because my teacher can’t teach me and I’m here from 2021 :D WASSSS GOOOOOOOOD MATES
Sweet that was quick. Most of these videos take hours to understand fully, now i can move on to the next topic. Thanks!

This was really helpful, my teacher did kind of a sloppy job at showing us, so this was great. Thank you
How come teachers on TH-cam are better teachers than actual teacher’s?
Thank you so much, best teacher ever!! I was so lost with my scatter plots, but u completely cleared it up for me! thanks for a good-quality, helpful video:)!!!
Thank you so much because i am to help my daughter pass her leap test and this really her understand scatter plots.

Thank you!! This was so helpful! Definitely coming here for more of my Maths Studies help!
Thank you so much, definitely going to help on my test tomorrow!
Damn this was six yeasts ago and I’m watching for my test now
@@brianmccullough2485 me too
A good explanation for me. Thumbs up!
you are welcome!! love to make math easy to understand...
Thx this will help me on my test tommorow

this video was really helpful thank you for posting it i finally understand scatter plots :)
this vidoe is awesome!!!
now i understand how to draw the trend line...
thanks very much.....
I'm gonna pass a test, go off to a fancy college and make a billion dollars... I CAN'T WAIT :)
how is that going?
OP any up dates?
Thanks for the positive message at the end haha
Thank you. I feel better about scatter plots.
Thanks for this information. It was very helpful
very helpful. thx. studying for algebra in sixth. so hard.
thanks guys helped with work alot

Thanks so much! Any info on finding slopes and turning them into standard form? Helping my niece!
the line of best fit, is it where the most dots are or is it the middle so the dots are even on both side?
great! keeping working hard!!
decently helpful, explains fairly decent
Thank you! Very helpful!
Wow, I learned a lot actually. thank you!
There was an Audi ad before the clip started for me and I watched the whole thing just because I hate math so much
I came to here to learn shit i should know.
Im bad at math.
the +400 is the same as "400" no need to enter + into your calculator
thanks a lot. your vid really is "math explained better" :D
What kind of software are you using in this video?
thank you so much this really helps
I have crippling depression
dats nice
xd
Are you ok?
man best way to learn
thanks for help. i'd prefer learn on youtube. my preacher.... i mean teacher only blabs but never teachs. this really helped me understand
loved your video
Very helpful mate, thanks
Nice explaining best fitting line
Thank u it helped very much
So do graphs with no correlation have no trend line
Totally helped thanks
once i find my slope how do i get my y-intercept? to plug it back into y=mx+b
I have yet to meet a 5 '10 12 year old but good video
I was one 13 now same heihh
Height
This helped alot thanks

thanks that helped so much!
excellent video
Very helpful thanks
thanks man
VERY GOOD VIDEO
it helped a lot
Hi. I love your tutorial. but how do i change the dot. e.g instead of dot. i want to put name on it.
helped great thanks!!!

I got it thanks very much
Thx helped alot
Thanks it helped

Okay 10 goddamn years ago
What? How does that come into context with this topic?
thank you so much
awesome!!! thanks so much!
Thank you!
Thank youuuuuuu
this was good
Hi this comment is for Mr.Barret
thanks but the most important part... solving for mx + b was not fully explained you oicked two points then didnt explain the rest
Thankyou
unwatchable unless you put 1.25 or 1.5 video speed.
im trying to learn and I see a 'moast satisfying' video.
How did this get too many negative votes???????
I CANT HERE YOU!
whats up with all these 12 year olds and 5'10 growth spurts
lol
thank yoouuuuuuuu
thx
Angel masters
The scale is not consistent. Any student taking a NYS Regents exam would lose points by not setting a proper scale for the y-axis.
should be y hat?
FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cesare A. Period 2
hey Cesare A. i dont think u comment here, u go to mrs. shaw's blog and comment under the "AM7 3/12/14" post
thats where everyone else did
He didn't even finish the problem
