- This is a fan-made documentary trying to record the complete story between Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, the lead actors of the Chinese TV series The Untamed.
You may watch this as a documentary, or you may watch it as a touching drama composed of laughters and tears. This is an English re-make version of an already-existing Chinese documentary.
This documentary is not entirely objective. Please watch it at your own discretion. Things such as “love” or “love at first sight” are -my own opinion-. These terms are employed for the purpose of making the video more dramatic, but they shouldn’t be used to label their relationship in real life.

The part that hit me during this video was yibo wanting to play the role of LWJ. Even after 2 rejections, tightly packed schedule and he didn't even knew whether it will be aired or not, he still auditioned for the role. Why? He knew he will lose fans too but he still did it. My respect for him has risen. 💜

My guess as to why WY never gave up in auditioning despite all the mentioned obstacles and loosing of fans and the possibility of it not being aired at all because of the theme was probably because he would really like to work with XZ. He probably saw in XZ during DDU visit his talent and was mentioned in this video that XZ gained a fan in DDU, which I presume was WY. Whatever the reason may be, I am thankful that he did not give up. 😊❤

The dedication and work that Yibo put into The Untamed is amazing. He followed his heart, even when is fans were against it and even if he didn’t know how the audience would feel about it. I don’t wish to spread any negativity, but I feel the necessity to make some things clear.
As a person who literally lives on Weibo, I've seen the following sayings at least a hundred thousand times during the past few months, but I still can't help but get angry every time I see this kind of comments under this video.
"gg isn't sincere with dd, he's using him as a stepping-stone"
"dd isn't sincere with gg: where is he when gg is in trouble?"
I'm just like: ?????????????????? Excuse me? Hello???
First of all, you people (haters, dd's toxic fans, gg's toxic fans, and other random people who somehow believe they don't have a good relationship), please come to a consensus first. So tell me, is it gg using dd, or is it dd using gg?
Secondly, open your eyes to see things for yourself. Go search for the truth by yourself, instead of believing hearsays coming from toxic fans of either gg’s fandom or dd’s fandom who try to brainwash people into thinking that they are not good friends.
For Zhan-ge, if you've seen enough videos by yourself, you can already tell how he is extremely protective toward Yibo. There's no need for me to say more. There are so many instances proving this that I can't even come up with a specific example right now. And I've already explained some things about gg somewhere in the comments a few weeks ago, so I don't want to do it once again.
Now I mainly want to respond to a comment I just saw, of somebody believing that dd left gg to struggle alone in the last three months.
To begin with, what makes you think that gg was struggling alone? How would you know? Are you a close friend of his? He literally said himself in the interview of early May that friends were accompanying him all along.
And why would gg reveal his private life anyway? Real friendships don't need to be intentionally shown to the public.
And what do you expect dd to do to stand up for gg? Openly say “I support Xiao Zhan”? Honestly, this would be the most unwise thing to do ever. What good will it do? Give haters even more chance to start rumors about their relationship? Ruin both of their careers? Is that what you really want to see?
Plus, Zhan-ge is a very strong and resilient person, way more than you might think. I’m pretty sure that even if Yibo wanted to publicly show his support, Zhan-ge would have stopped him from doing so. He doesn’t need and wouldn’t want Yibo to risk his career for him.
So let's grow up and be realistic. The only way for dd to be truly able to support gg as a friend is to grow stronger himself. Not by adding more fuel to the fire or by jumping head first into trouble.
dd was working so hard in the past few months to the detriment of his own health.
Taking on an unprecedented amount of workload. Huge amounts of magazines, endorsements, variety shows, and dramas, mixed with crazy obsessive fans intruding upon his private life.
He never had a single moment to rest.
Why is he doing this? Are you seriously saying that gg is struggling alone? Please stop unseeing what dd is doing.
Since last summer (and in the past three months as well), every single time dd has to use promotional photos for activities, he only chooses photos that were taken on occasions where he went on stage together with gg. He kept reusing those photos so much that some of his own fans began expressing dissatisfaction. Why doesn't he just take new photos? Is taking new pictures that hard for a celebrity?
Isn't this his own wise way of standing up for gg? Why would he even do something like this if he wasn't good friends with gg?
No matter if you're a hater, gg's toxic fan or dd's toxic fan, or simply a random person who believes the toxic fans' sayings, just go away. If your goal was to change my mind about gg and dd, then you failed miserably.
I simply refuse that people come under my video and insult either gg or dd in the worst possible way by claiming that they are insincere toward each other.

Update 2020.07.22:
Someone was worried that I'm biased because "I'm making revenue out of this project". I would like to clarify that *I make zero revenue from making BJYX videos.* In fact, I opted not to be in the TH-cam partnership program because I do not want to use gg and dd as tools to gain profit. Moreover, many parts of this first episode (for instance DDU excerpts) are copyright claimed by Mango TV and Tencent, thus I cannot monetize it even if I wished to, let alone the fact that I do not seek profit. *All the ads you see in this video are inserted by the abovementioned companies* and any profit goes to them. Actually, even just aesthetically speaking, I strongly dislike having ads in my BJYX videos. (FYI: There exists extensions on Chrome that can block ads, but beware of viruses.)
For those who are wondering, one of my original motivations to start this project was actually to cope with my own negative emotions which were pronounced during the period of March to May (and possibly to help some other fans as well). I wanted to prove that despite all the hate some people are spreading, there are still many beautiful things on earth in which we can have faith.

I cannot agree more. Any person with clear mind and pure heart should see the sincerity between these two boys. Those haters seem to have such miserable lives; all they see are lies and hate. Don't care about them; just keep supporting our boys. I hope it is ok for me to post on here ,I'm a 67 year old grandmother ,and ccame upon the untamed by chance on Netflix ,I watched all of it besides not speaking the language I absolutely loved it ,I think both lead actors were amazing ,all of the cast were great but those two young men were brilliant ,the whole thing was beautifully done done from costumes to scenery ,it was beautiful ,good luck to you all ,and stay safe ,from Liverpool ,United Kingdom ♥️

This was super interesting, but honestly I don't really care what their relationship is. If Yibo feels really comfortable around Zhan whether it is romantic love or not, I support. I hate fans who limit their favorite celebs in not being in relationships especially those who are against same sex relationships. Like who cares? Wang Yibo, a shy boy who keeps to himself around strangers opened up to Xiao Zhan so so quickly. Yibo believes in love at first sight whilst Zhan would rather gradually fall in love.

These two have been destined to be together from the start. I'm not a believer of rebirth but I do believe in fate and destiny and whatnot.

It's clear yibo really was smitten with zhan. But I think zhan admired yibo in return cause he's very successful despite being so young; zhan entered the entertainment industry late so I bet he felt behind and in turn, always admired yibo. I believe in fate/destiny and soulmates as well and I'm almost certain these two were meant to meet and collaborate and perhaps be part of each other's lives.
I didn't know they had lost fans because of this drama!! Its heartbreaking to know things like that still exist but I'm happy they both stuck to it and gained so much success through this project
It is just so amazing how Yibo insisted on the role of LWJ even after 2 rejections, no guarantee success, not even a guarantee to air, already has sucessful projects up his sleeves and potential to lose fans and gain hates due to the nature of his role. Still, he insisted! I can't wrap my head around that. Maybe, he wanted to be part of a BL film to support the LGTB community in China
Cute Cookie hahahaha .... sure sure .... anyways, ya, it’s hard to wrap around the idea that WYB went all the way out to get the role. If it’s a guaranteed blockbuster in the making because of a well-known scriptwriter or a well-known Director or the presence of a famous A-lister actor, I can understand. To repeatedly try out to get the role in a genre that is not even guaranteed to be broadcasted with a group of relatively unknown cast, it doesn’t seem like what YueHua would have planned for YiBo. It strongly suggest it’s purely driven by YiBo’s own desire to be in the drama. It’s a high risk that he took just to be in the drama. I’m glad that he did though because The Untamed exploded and shot the two men to unfathomable heights.

@@werew3 XZ was confirmed to play WWX only 2 weeks prior to WY confirmed to play LWJ. Surely the whole selection and audition process took more than 2 weeks. Unless he was just taking a chance that XZ would be selected.

Homosexuality is a big deal in Korea and China. Entire dramas will be black listed and taken down for even a hit of a relationship between boys or between girls. That's why they had to change the story for The Untamed. In the novel, LZ and WWX are lovers, but in order to air it in China they had to switch it to Soul Mates. It doesn't surprise me at all that he lost fans, but i'm still disappointed about it.

It's 2023, and they still live for free in my heart and mind. They make me feel lonely and happy at the same time.

IKR? This is one of the reason I refused to watch The Untamed before. I read the book few years back, and I LOVE LWJ and WWX so much.
If they made WQ as WWX's love interest, it will ruin all of the storyline. Like, okay, we understand we won't get WWX and LWJ's intimate scenes, we get it. But paired WWX with WQ? Made them kissed and even almost slept together??? WTH??

YiBo is simply smitten by XZ, and you can really see how he admires XZ by the way he looks at him. I'm just so happy to be a fan of both Xiao Zhan and YiBo and The Untamed. The Untamed shot them both to superstardom, they were destined to be superstars.

18:08 the producer of TU mentioned that her friend recommended GG in 2017. Since she also said that GG and DD are both her first choice for their roles, it isn't farfetched to say GG is already confirmed to be WWX since 2017.
GG and DD met in 2017. DD must have found out (from 2017 to early 2018) that GG will play as WWX, so despite his busy schedule and already a stable career, he still did his best to land on LWJ's role.

Ever since I watched this, this short documentary has been on my mind 24/7. I use to think that people were exaggerating on how they can possibly be interested in each other, but after watching this, I can see why fans say so. I keep thinking about what attracted Wang Yibo to Xiao Zhan? Like what sparked that first interest from Wang Yibo, knowing that he's the quiet type? Not saying that Xiao Zhan doesn't have great qualities. Xiao Zhan has amazing qualities that can spark interests, but which ones was it that moved Wang Yibo to want to take action? It's cute and lowkey very inspiring seeing how persistent Wang Yibo seemed to really want to be Xiao Zhan's friend. Wang Yibo harbored his one-sided interest for two years and took the chance when he had it. Its also truly inspiring to know that Wang Yibo wanted to be friends with Xiao Zhan genuinely and not because of fame or clout. Their relationship is so pure and genuine that seeing the current controversy about Xiao Zhan truly breaks my heart. There seems to be people that want to break their friendship apart and its saddening. Their relationship is just so genuine, its kind of beautiful watching it unfold.This whole documentary is a masterpiece and can't wait for future parts. Good luck on your finals! Yes... you're totally right. None of them were even near to being famous at that time, so they couldn't have sought any fame or profit from each other. Both of them were so genuine toward each other during that unforgettable summer of 2018... Even in 2019, during the multiple interviews, we could still see *with our own eyes* to what extent they entirely trust each other, really. A relationship this pure is just so so so precious in the showbiz. It is a real pearl.
The reason why I totally trust Zhan is because Yibo trusts him, and the reason why I totally trust Yibo is because Zhan trusts him. My trust for both of them simply come from their faith toward each other. And indeed the huge amount of people who are slandering Zhan and who are "cancelling" him right now think that Yibo and Zhan's relationship is artificial and fake and that they are doing it for show. There is a timeline theory that pushes their meeting all the way back to 2015. In that timeline they were together in 2016, broke up in 2017 due to company aand family complications. Reunited in 2018 for the untamed, but didn't confirm their relationship again until late 2018.
There are plenty of hints for that timeline but we will never know the 100% truth. I stand on that time line because too much coincidence pushes it towards manmade actions

A lot of fans are saying Yibo is crazy in love with xiao zhan but on the contrary i believe Xiao is equally in love with Yibo If not more. Xiao is more cautious. His career was almost crippled so he is very cautious. On the other hand Yibo is younger, adventurous and daring. He is not as cautious as Xiao Zhan. This is my opinion. I've seen many clips whereby Xiao or GG got all childish and shy and Yibo remarked that when an adult is in love they become childish.

Yibo's journey is very inspiring. He is persistent and apparently doesn't let anything prevents him from achieving his goal and that is why he is successful at such a young age.
Lastly I believe since he is an only child and had to take care of himself while his parents are at work, he has no one to communicate with. He is an amazing character.

Gracias por su trabajo, me pareció genial independientemente de lo que querramos ver, hay algo que si me llamó la atención el Yibo quisiese actuar en el filme aun ante la negativa de su fandom, de ser rechazado 2 veces antes, una producción que él desconocía, el contexto sobre el tipo de dramas, de tener suficiente trabajo y que se estaba juagando su carrera al hacer un drama Chino que aunque se mantuvo dentro de la ley, viene de un historia BL y para los fanaticos de la novela que ya conocía la historia estaban arriesgando mucho, En lo particular el Live me hizo leer la novela, soy fanaticas de las series BL, pero el Live me hizo leer la novela, que es super bien escrita y toda mi experiencia leyendola fue con las cara de Yibo y Zhan, de tal manera que lloré y me reí imaginandome sus rostro, es una pena que no pudiera hacer fiel a la novela, pero realmente se transmitió el amor que se sentía o para los menos conocedores de la historia, se sintió mas que una amistad.

A mi también me llamó la atención eso de que Yibo como que si o si quería trabajar en el drama, lo rechazaron 2 veces y aun así lo intentó una tercera, y pues creo que al ver que sus fans no querían que trabajara tal vez hubiera desistido, pero no eso no impidió que él siguiera intentando, había algo que lo motivaba a intentar obtener ese papel, bueno eso pienso yo.
Exacto!!! A mí me pasó al contrario, me leí la novela y el manwa primero. Y aunque muchas de las escenas importantes entre WWX y LWJ no pudieron grabarse, me parece que The Untamed es una obra súper romántica. Porque sin palabras ni ser demasiado explícitos lo decían todo... Wang Yibo y Xiao Zhan fueron el acierto más increíble. Son dos personas con mucha química y tan parecidos a sus personajes que sus interpretaciones parecen cruzar la línea de la realidad con tantas emociones y miradas ♥️♥️♥️

In reality, China is a beautiful country with its own cultural characteristics, some of which being desirable and some of which being less desirable, in the same way as any other country.
I understand that we all hold different opinions as individuals, and I totally respect that. However, *we should avoid any country-related comment (keeping in mind that they may negatively impact gg and dd), or I will be forced to remove your comment against my will.* More importantly, they are the ones who love their motherland the most, and I believe they would be sad themselves if anyone talked negatively about their beloved home-country.
