But how can you take 15 studies and aggregate them? Dont you need some sort of consistent criteria across these 15 studies? What if all these studies use different methods and so on? I dont understand the practicalities behind a meta-analysis. Could you explain this?

@@ceaser273 Yeah that is a concern. A way that it is addressed by is by converting the data to quantiles. Suppose you have studies A, B and C. Instead of comparing their data directly you convert that data to the within study quantile. Study A could have a data range of 2 to 10, B can have 11 to 66 and C can have 35 to 200 - (EXTREMELY ARBITRARY VALUES)
Now, if I convert the values to quantiles I will essentially be comparing those quantiles across studies. Quantiles convert data to a scale of 0 to 1. Now your data is in a comparable format across studies.
