But how can you take 15 studies and aggregate them? Dont you need some sort of consistent criteria across these 15 studies? What if all these studies use different methods and so on? I dont understand the practicalities behind a meta-analysis. Could you explain this?
I’m thinking the exact same thing lol I don’t see how this specific kind of research could be productive, feels like you’re just piling a bunch of studies together for nothing
@@ceaser273 Yeah that is a concern. A way that it is addressed by is by converting the data to quantiles. Suppose you have studies A, B and C. Instead of comparing their data directly you convert that data to the within study quantile. Study A could have a data range of 2 to 10, B can have 11 to 66 and C can have 35 to 200 - (EXTREMELY ARBITRARY VALUES) Now, if I convert the values to quantiles I will essentially be comparing those quantiles across studies. Quantiles convert data to a scale of 0 to 1. Now your data is in a comparable format across studies.
Thank you for providing an overview of meta-analysis basics. As a researcher in the biological field, I am interested in incorporating meta-analysis into my own studies. While I possess a foundational understanding of statistics, could you guide me toward resources that can help me deepen my knowledge of meta-analysis?
dear doctor I want to learn meta-analysis can you recommend to me some books or softwares or films to help me learn meta-analysis thanks a lot Ali Rezaee MD student
Waoo.. I love your video, it's very precise and informative, enlightening and interesting.. Pls I am a data analyst and am currently working on specialising on clinical data and epidemiological data analysis. Pls can I connect with you and be mentored virtually...
I've sat through 2 hours of lecture this week on meta-analysis in behavioral psychology, and this 4min video summarized it perfectly! Thank you!!!
Thank you for the nice presentation.
Thank you for your presentation. Can you please explain what is effect size and why is it important?
I appreciate your presentation. I'm doing a lit review of epidemiology and needed to know about Meta Analysis. Thanks!
Short and a brief Introduction . Nice.
thanks for the clear explanation
This is very helpful. Thanks Doc

Very informative and helpful video! :)
Thanks dr. Hawkins! Very useful. 🙏
What is the difference between the systemic review and Meta analysis?
Please elaborate effect size and moderator variable
thank you Doctor...
Thanks very much! You are great.

Thanks for you can I named mate analysis as a ( review ) ?
So, can I think that literature review is a summary of papers. Meta-analysis is a summary of the data in those papers?
very beautiful, the smile why taking is captivating. yes very informative and precise. thanks

How well meta analysis is being used with evidence based medicine?

Thank you!
