As a kid, Kelly Osbourne was part of ‘The Osbournes', one of the first reality TV shows. Having her life on full display was normalized and this eventually led to detachment and isolation, in her teenage years. She started drinking at the age of 13 and progressed heavily from there.
Her problems started compounding at home. She was struggling with her identity as a young adult, being in the public eye constantly, she wouldn’t go to the store or do normal things. She felt like she wasn’t worthy of normal tasks like that. She also started absorbing a lot of troubles and drama in her household, including her father’s progressing Parkinson’s disease. She found herself drinking & using drugs alone quite often. This continued for many years, up until about 2017. She was inspired to get sober for the first time in her life.
After 4 years of sobriety, Kelly recently relapsed. She was triggered by defamation and negative comments towards a loved one. This is her first conversation about her most recent relapse and her journey to sobriety. Kelly describes how the pandemic and quarantine led her to look for excuses to use and led to her recent relapse. She stopped seeing her therapist, stop seeing her sponsor, and let it get the best of her. She could tell her boyfriend was viewing her differently, and that inspired her to begin the recovery process once again.
Kelly has always been trying to break the cycle of negativity directed towards her, growing up people would say that she didn’t deserve her accolades, that she’s only famous because of her father, etc. This inspired her to really carve out her own identity and to stop the people-pleasing mentality that became restrictive and destructive to her psyche. She’s learned now to use a “2-hour rule” that makes her evaluate her impulse decisions and usually leads to better choices for her health.
Kelly admits that she’s terrible at asking for help. She’s finally realized & embraced this later in life, and wants to progress fully from her addiction. Her new goal is to put her health and well-being first, not other peoples’. By focusing on her mental health, her emotional health, spirituality, and overall attitude towards life, she’s finally broken the vicious cycle & is ready to share her story in hopes that it will help others with their struggle.
Kelly also shares some stories about the good times over the years, some of her favorite Ozzfest bands like Incubus, Korn, Slipknot, Hatebreed & Pantera. Also, Kelly shared a story about the rivalry between Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and Ozzy on the Ozzfest tour, involving over 300 eggs.
In her first sit-down interview since her most recent relapse, this is Kelly Osbourne in his own words on Knockin’ Doorz Down.

I lost 16 years sobriety. I celebrated 21 weeks sober instead of 17 years so I really related to this. I love her. 💘

You didn't lose 16 years. You spent them sober. They would've been lost if you were using. They still count! That's a great accomplishment. Don't let anyone tell you they don't count, because you relapsed. This AA idea that your time is gone if you relapse is extremely unhealthy and untrue.

Yes it is easy. grow some balls and man up. Stay away from 12 step guilt /shames based fear recovery. You will be in and out and stay weak .. they allow relapse , ya booy go drink or get high , they will take you back. Evil evil brainwash program. Chances are your not sober or you relapsed since this comment if your a victim in 12 step groups

I get me being part British it’s even harder bc the entire culture” revolves round hey let’s go round to the pub” normal thing. Love your laugh! Your laugh sense of humour will help keep you strong and sober. At least it did 20 years strong sober for me. I’m,normal. I’m a 64 ,yup when I’m 64!
I can dance enjoy music enjoy my music of course I had slips in my earlier days. We aren’t perfect and that is ok.
Think of the song Landslide by Fleetwood MAC it’s about Stevie Nicks writing about taking her ego down off the mantle “
    Cool shit.
I love Stevie I love you too.
    I had hellacious experiences that I went in hospital 12 x !
Not detox acute mental illness I’m still in therapy.
    Every lady deserves good health.
    Good self beauty)care …
Skin care like mini vacay by yourself.
Shut the door take a candlelit bath think….but try to not think….Say I,am going to relax my body.
It’s actually important that Kelly takes care of Kelly first before.
I needed to learn that that’s not selfish.
    But self love …
It took years to acceptance bc I went thru self hatred caused by physical and mental abuse tbh.
What helped too is forgiveness as much as you can.
Bc I realized that my life was too short to
    hang on too this shit.
I only have posted bc I’m spiritual person & I never do it for attention.Do I crave drink now ever? Honest? No. Why? Ima bad drunk!
    I get angry
Me having the type of mental illness that I have, antidepressants are toxic to me! On speed!
I still,to this day get invites to bars ….by gfs ….they aren’t remembering….I DONT AND CANT DRINK! Plus I think every thing happens for a reason. I thought I was back in the old days I’d be in the 27 club” guess not ,huh?
My goal is to keep being myself peace environmental improvement kindness love always for all animals, keep on bc a stronger lady.
Never lower my high standards meaning dating I’m not .
I’m listening Kelly your very articulate lady, however same as what I post I realize.
Kiddos will still take drugs every day get drunk every time look on YT especially in Cali mushrooms are legal and every sorts of pot.
Plenty of my life stays private.
    lol

I had to go in rehab again after 3 years sober, now I’m sober again but it’s really hard sometimes, especially because when I’m bored I just think about relapsing again, but I’m being strong and calling out for help whenever I need it and it’s being huge for me. Kelly is so real and I’m so glad to hear her talking about her story ❤

i’m so glad she spoke on the Cali-sober thing. it’s really been confusing to me for a while now, how exactly that’s considered “sobriety”. i do recognize that if someone is able to break a harder habit, say coke, or heroin, than marijuana is by far a safer choice……i commend them for breaking the harder habit - i just don’t really understand how it’s considered sober.

Somehow I’m just now finding out this channel when I stumbled upon the video with Charlie Sheen yesterday and I’m on TH-cam every day. I immediately started to add more videos to my watch later so I can try to catch up. Very good conversations between both sides on the ones I’ve watched so far. I was enjoying listening to Kelly until the last few minutes. I didn’t necessarily disagree with everything she said but I am also not a fan of people apologizing for being white or as she said, is embarrassed. Or for being heterosexual! It’s one thing to realize that something you said or done might be insensitive/ offensive so you try to better yourself and make whatever apologies that is needed but you can not be held accountable for the way another person thinks. It is becoming hard to know who is being genuine when they go on and on about this subject because it has been turned into a popularity contest. It’s like how a politician goes on their tour talking about the key points they know the public wants out of them. I’m not saying Kelly isn’t being genuine because I honestly don’t know it’s just the climate we currently living in. It’s not getting any better either.

I totally relate to the self induced agoraphobia. Depression/anxiety + post partum depression + pandemic + addiction issues....totally made/makes me feel uncomfortable being around others, not good enough and ugly. It's insane what our brains tell us...and how much easier it is to believe the negative things rather than the positive. It's definitely something I'm working on and although I don't wish the feelings upon anyone, it's good to know im not alone. Whether you don't have a pot to pee in or if you're rich and famous....we're all humans just trying to be happy and survive in this mad world.
