    You gotta love a plow truck that cruises through snow at 7 MPH in third gear!

    The only plow truck that is happiest in fourth gear high range and not missing a beat.

    Think any truck made today will be working hard when it's the same age as this one?
    Don't think so!

    @weedissafer not really. engines are smoother, they do make more power, but frame construction is not as heavy. They use smaller boxed frames nowdays. Power wagon's also have no real comparison in todays market. They are heavier duty, and were heavier duty than comparable trucks when they were new.. 4x4 before any of the other companies even gave it a serious thought. Kaiser/ Willys jeep was the only other at the time

    Just discovered them a couple of years ago. Seen many restored versions displayed on TH-cam. Try not to watch them because they are such awesome trucks. It is true that it is such automotive pornography looking at something you want, but can't have or afford, especially these Power Wagons.

    I can hear the flathead six cylinder and the straight cut gears of the manual transmission.sounds good,Ford and GM were way off into the future before they even offered a factory built 4 WD pick up like this here DODGE POWER WAGON and even then they were not as heavy duty as this.

    • @toomanyhobbies2011
      @toomanyhobbies2011 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were built for the war and Dodge continued them for the farm and ranch market afterwards. Few civilians bought them or you'd see more around. The other manufacturers built bigger trucks for the war effort for which there was no civilian market. All the manufacturers made factory 4x4s in the 60s because the market picked up. Were they as ruggedly built? They didn't need to be, civilians never needed a military vehicle, nor would they pay for it. My '66 Chevy K10 is just as capable off road but not as heavily built.

    @weedissafer what do you know about engines anyways? are you an ASE certified technician? are you an engineer? I bet you can't even change your own oil. How are modern engines better? what makes them better? I think you should explain to us. Engines built then had thicker cylinder walls, higher nickle content, and pure simplicity. There are many advantages of older engines over new ones. new ones are punched out as cheap as possible to make as much money as possible. THATS IT.

    These trucks had no horsepower but could still do the job. Why is it so hard for everybody to understand that? These trucks nowadays have 400 horsepower and 1000 ft/lbs of torque and people feel inadequate if they don't have one. Shit, I'm thinking of taking the V8 out of my square body and putting in a 6 cyl...except it's an automatic

    @weedissafer Back then we wernt Enviroment freaks, so the engines were built better and lasted longer. my car is a 1974 dodge charger. it was stored OUTSIDE for most of its life and the good ole' dodge engine fires up like that. alright? this car wasnt babied. tell me your engines will start after 37 years outside.
