Love it! Stella sounds a lot like Dolly. Carmol was my step-dad's brother. My stepdad was very proud of him. I remember when he died Tammy Wynette sent flowers to his funeral.
MY FATHER WAS FRIENDS WITH CARMEL AND MY FATHER'S COUSIN, EARL BASS, PLAYED AND WROTE SONGS WITH HIM. I WAS AT THE BENEFIT TAMMY WYNETTE HAD FOR HIM IN HAMILTON IN THE 80'S. CARMEL WAS ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET...
I used to sing with Carmol on the WCBI TV Brown Buick Showcase, then we would leave, go to the Corral in Tupelo, on way to Pontotoc, MS. I sang with Carmol on July 4th at the rodeo in Shuqualak, MS, with Carl Sauceman, who sang a lot with Carmol. His bass player was Earl Bass, and his lead guitar player was Joe Carter, Junior Warren and Jim Roby played steel, and I cannot remember the drummer name. Lot of times when he had song to pitch to Tammy Wynette, He would play it for me at TV Sta.
My husband promoted country music shows and Stella worked some of them, she is a very nice person and her voice has changed some since and she sings so nice and soft. Love to hear her. Carmol has a beautiful voice. I heard these songs of his before I guess, but did not know who sang them. This is really nice.
Stella has the voice of a goddess. Carmol is the very definition of country music. Together their voices are legendary. Thank you for posting this. I am now a fan of these two wonderful artist.
I played in a band in Guin (The Bleutones) in the 60s and we played on Carmol's Wednesday night TV show in Columbus a couple of times as well as with him at the Hamilton skating rink at least once that I can recall. I knew that he had become a great song writer later but had no idea that Billy Sherrill was a member of Carmol's Country Pals until reading it recently. Sad to lose him at such a young age.
@shobudsteeler I have all of Carmol's singles now, so I'll put one up that I haven't outside of "Back In The USA" and "I Really Had A Ball Last Night". I don't have "Sugar Creek Bottom", but I'll look for it :)
Oh he was definitely the "real deal"... Loved him to death !! He and my Daddy were good "pickin' and grinnin' friends", and I also used to sing with him some on Friday nights at the Hilltop.
Please tell me what i need to do to get a copy of this song sent to me. This use to be my mom and dads favorite song And we can not find it anywhere please help me. =o)
My favorite Carmol Taylor song; such an amazing display of real country (Stella Parton does a fantastic job, too!)
Carmon Taylor has to be the most under-appreciated country singer/songwriter there ever was!! Thank God for youtube!!
