I’m a believer, but wow, that really seems like a lot of mental gymnastics to come to that conclusion

I would say that killing children is evil, and believing that killing certain children is righteous because of religious beliefs is also evil.

@@endofscene The God of the universe who created all life destroyed his own creation when they rebelled against him. There is nothing more than that, what else would you have had him do when he was betrayed for the 75th or 150th time by the human race. When they were performing disgusting acts of homosexuality and rape in their culture and praising pagan gods. Also, he sacrificed his own son in order that His children would be forgiven and given access to His kingdom. Lastly, by your logic I assume you are heavily pro-life and are 100% against abortion in all cases, because why would a woman be able to do something justly, that God could not by your moral compass.

@@bvici22 ‘Abortion’ is the killing of a child, so it is an evil act by my definition. But, again, the JudeoChristian deity commands and commits the murder of many children (including his own son). He also wanted millions of babies to have their dicks cut up (so much for Intelligent Design), and without any anaesthetic of course.
The idea that killing certain key figures in history would prevent net suffering in this world is, imo, naive. You’re playing a game of ‘wackamole’.
Everyone in this world is destined to suffer according to their karma and choices. I have no control over the karma or choices of others (nor should I); I only have control over my own.
A wise person lives in such a way as to mitigate and minimise suffering for themselves and others. But the wise person knows that the ends don't justify the means. Committing evil with an aim of preventing or reducing evil is doomed to fail in the long run.
Committing evil in an attempt to prevent a seemingly greater evil is the strategy of young souls who do not realise that the only real triumph over evil is the triumph over the evil within us.

You think human existence on earth is all of it. No, it is not. You opinion is limited to you knowledge and perception of things. Trust that the Knowledge of Elohim is far more vast than yours.

Justification of the lamest kind. The bible scholars can & will justify anything. I'm a Christian believer, but won't accept the mayhem of the O.T. as anything but blind, primitive fanaticism. Some scholars will finagle until the cows come home, but the morality will remain moot always subject to this or that interpretation. One says, if someone wants to accept & justify barbarism, well, it's up to them.

This quotation from scripture he uses is not a reflection of any historical reality. There was no dashing of children against the rocks. It does indeed reflect the psalmist's understanding that God is a jealous and vindictive god. So the question really is, do you want to believe in this abomination of morality or do you want to understand and admit to yourself that no one should have anything to do with such absurdity? If you stay in this religion and defend it, you are complicit in its doctrine of submission to whatever the wrathful god of Abraham doles out to humanity. Do you want to be a part of this, or do you say to yourself -- as any sane person should -- hey, I'm outa here.
