Are Subwoofer Isolation Feet Better Than Spikes? I tested a PB4000 SVS Subwoofer with and without the SVS Isolation feet, averaged across 3 tests in each configuration to compare against each other. Some people think they add bass, other think it removes it. Let's find out!

Hard materials can be a good acoustic conductor. Rubber feet might stop vibrations going through the floor and onto the interior. I put rubber feet on my subs with bookshelves on top, and everything around rattled less. The wooden floor under the speakers is kind of bouncy so that probably why I noticed a big difference. I made my rubber feet from rubber pads for car jacks so speakers are suspended 2cm off the ground. It helped to make the speakers disappear better. Rattling breaks the "being there" illusion very quickly.

Great video! It was nice to see some measurements to back up your personal impressions on what sort of effect the SVS isolation feet have (pretty much mirrors my experience). Looking forward to your impression and measurements for a subwoofer on spikes!

If you are on a second floor the feet keep you from getting evicted. Neighbors never complain about my two subs that Ive installed feet on.

If a subwoofer cabinet is vibrating, it might be worth coupling to a heavy object (granite slab). The slab can then be isolated from the floor to avoid the floor shaking :)

@@audfrknaveen2256 Put simply, the only thing that should be vibrating is the driver cone, everything else just muddys up the sound, and worse, introduces harmonic resonances,.....

Ever tried open baffle woofers? You dont get as deep but the sound IMO is superior and has different room loading charecteristics.. Better for apartments IMO and less rattling of dishes

Can the software also measure decay? I have a feeling the increased dB levels you're seeing when using spikes are due to the sub resonating the whole room, almost like an outer enclosure, when coupled tightly to it. This could absolutely make the bass "bloom" more, with a noticeable acceleration into peak bass, followed by deceleration back to silent. In that case, the spikes would give you increased dB on those low frequencies, at the expense of "tightness" of bass, or instant-on/instant-off of those frequencies.
I'd love to see a follow-up with decay measured!

I don't get it. Can't read the graph. A simple explanation of what the spikes and then the rubber did. But ok.

is there any down side to one type over another in terms of sub weight? i have carpet and my new sub is going to weigh about 550Lbs and i wouldn't want a spike to break or a foot to collapse.

Excellent video! Need your expert advice. I have PC2000 siting on Vinyl Laminate floor over concrete (basement). And with playing Aquaman or Fury I have noticed that the PC2000 moves few inches and couple times plugged out from the power supply 😀. What should I do to prevent that happening?

Do yourself a favor and buy a decent sub to start. Buying cheap subs just leads to buying and selling for a loss to upgrade later anyway. Buy once, cry once as they say. Speaking from experience

@@COGuyStuff I thought of something you may find interesting. I have the same Klipsch speakers you had and as you know if they are 1/4'' out it's noticeable, so I use a laser pointer to get them aligned perfectly. $3 on ebay with free shipping well worth it.
