All tree horns sound great! Horns are hit and miss. I like that old $100 one

I agree! I've thought of taking the bell off and putting it on another horn... But it still plays very nice! :)

      @@JonathanMilam1 I’d leave it alone.

Thank you again Jon. Old horns are sweet.I got that new 50th Stradivarius. It’s too tight 190 37 Bell. I’m using smaller mouthpieces to liven it up . Waiting on aBach 5V . I also play a NY Bach 7C I found .I think you’re right about lighter horns like the Bach 43. They have better tone . I really liked that Bronze Bach commercial or the ACB horns .

The bronze Bach is nice, and so is the 43. Between them and the old 43* I have, I think I've got 3 very fine Strads. And now I've got 3 very fine Benges...lol. These 6 are 'fit for a King', I think. :)

@@JonathanMilam1 You’re going to laugh.I’m bidding on a Bach 500 made in Tiwan. It looks like a Strad with a rose lead pipe. I’ll give it a go.

The MLP was the model that Timofei Dokshizer played for many years.
Benges have the best flexible tone. So much you can do to color the sound on these horns.

Dave; I've listened to some recordings where he used a Benge and wondered what model. Thanks for the info! :)

They all sounded good to me. I am also playing a 10.5 and a Bobby Shew jazz MP. Is Trent’s TA1 similar to 10.5 ? For having weak chops your high note are excellent.

I'm not sure about his TA1, honestly. I've got a TA Lead that is close to a 10.5 rim. I still use it some, I had the rim cut off for a slightly larger rim I now use (I like the Warburton 6 rim - I'm using it on almost all my pieces. It's like a Bach 7 diameter, but more rounded).

My chops have never been strong. I played a Bach 1 (no letter) in my early 20's, then moved to a 3C size. In my 40's, I finally moved to a 10.5 size; using the Marcinkiewicz Shew pieces and some of Trent Austin's stuff. Finally, I've settled on a 7c size; but I use the Warburton 6 rim (it's almost the same size diameter of a Bach 7C but much more comfortable and a bit rounder). I think WAY too many trumpeters are playiing too large a mouthpiece - and that hurts endurance and range. Going smaller is challenging; stay with a smaller mouthpiece for at least a month; let your lips get used to it. Many average and weak players should do this, in my opinion.
