Started watching this for the first time 3 days ago and now I’m obsessed and watched all the episodes in one sitting. Definitely have to read the books! Such a shame such a great show/amazing actors had to be canceled.

I literally got addicted to them and read the novel imagining their faces. And I'm happy I stumbled by this series mid covid cause it healed my lonely heart. Now I rewatched the series again and I feel like crying once again

I read the entire story, and there is so much that never was put on the screen. Their entire love story is just something else. I'm STILL waiting for the next phase to be put on screen. It will have to be outside of China, but if it were ever done, the views would be unreal. This is a wonderful story.

I was today years old when I found out there were 3 episodes from season 1 that never aired due to the ban, I thought it was only season 2 😫😫 ugh when your chemistry so good they banned you from working together in a whole country

Addicted Season 1 have only 15 Episodes. In mainland china, only 12 episode has been released before the series got banned. The 3 remaining episode was released here in youtube which are Ep 13, 14, and 15. Season 1 supposedly end with that cliffhanger since season 2 will not take much time to be release but sadly the ban occur and they are prohibited to continue season 2.
They were not only banned but they are also not allowed to be seen in the same place together wether in public or private. Or else they will be fined.
The issue caused Timmy Xu to not have source of income, ads and guestings and acting toles all pulled out because of the issue and only recently did he start getting acting projects again... Jimmy also had a difficulty for about a year, but luckily had a well-known agency back him up and got him ads and variety show guestings and acting gigs.. 😭😭😭😭😭
It was heartbreaking because they were both just rookie actors at that time...

@gaurav bhagat bhagat it's not really homophobia... It's more like a cultural conservatism. They don't understand it nor think it's possible. You see the Chinese(especially those of the elder generation) value the concept of heritage and family lineage.
Of course the younger generation has long been open to the lgbt+ concept, but the stigma remains because of the elders. China is one of the Asian countries that strictly implements filial piety. So, most of the times, even if it's no longer a taboo to the youth, they dare not act on it to respect the elders...
We can't exactly call it homophobia, but a stigma... it's the fear of the older generation to acknowledge a relationship without fertility. And a family without biological children. Which causes the authorities to be extra careful when it comes to the issues of homosexuality..

Gu Hai is also such a man, I mean he spent more than 155.000 USD just to propose Bai Luo Yin, learn how to cook, and a lot of sweet things he had done just for him. Yes, in book 2, Gu Hai canceled his wedding, ran away and left her bride in the altar when he found out that Bai Luo Yin's jet crashed. Luckily, he escaped through a parachute but he was trapped in a forestry swamp. Gu Hai bravely searched and rescued him.😍😍😍😭😭😭

still salty that this was cancelled abruptly with an unfinished season. it suffered a worse fate compared to those cancelled Netflix shows. LOL. well CHINA is not really as homophobic as you think. AsianBoss had an interview among random citizens in Shanghai about the BAN of LGBQT content in Weibo, and actually I was soooo surprised that all the respondents in that video, were against the ban of lgbt content. Weibo received a huge backlash from chinese netizens and decided to not continue with their plans. China even has a place where they named it china's Gay-capital city lol. forgot the name. but going back to this series, I think this was banned its because the storyline in the further episodes will involve the MILITARY. and china is very sensitive to that. a bit of a trivia: The UNTAMED ( a different series) was actually a BL novel but toned-down to Bromance but a lot of people in China knows that it is originally BL. the Untamed was so successful that even contributed a bit in the Chinese economy. lol. so okay, basically my point is, China is really depicted as a homophobic country in mainstream media, yes it could still be accurate. but as years go by they've become more open to society.
Their netizen is okay but their government is not. That's why all BL become bromance. There rule in China, public figure can't be gay. But ordinary netizen can. So yeah the netizen is really open. But not their government. Idk their reasons
It's their government that's fucked up. I feel bad for the Chinese citizens. Their government is composed of a bunch of insecure fragile old men on egotistical power trips. Imagine banning Winnie the Pooh because of a fucking meme. Fragile snowflakes. Can't wait until their youths finally replace their old decrepit asses.
Chinese govt is recently cracking down on lgbt content in movies and pride parades, activist groups, gay clubs, censoring media on lgbt issues. They want gays to be underground, disoriented, out of social space, mainstream culture.
I am so inlove to this series that I cried when they announced that there will be no season 2 wayback in 2015/2016, They are my first ever BL series to watch and still the best one up until this day even after I watched hundreds of other BL shows, there is just something about their chemistry and the story line itself, i even looked for an audio book of the next part of the show and still enjoyed it so much even though im just imagining the pictures in my mind while listening, They are still the best really, and the soundtrack of this series is superb...I miss them T_T my Bai lou yin and Gu hai

Until this movie, I hadn't seen mahjong game. It looks and sounds very exciting. I will read the rules to understand how to play. But I'll never manage to defeat Ba Luo Yin. He's such a clever man, and very humble too. I like the way Gu Hai praises the talent of his buddy in front of his own friends. And this dish looks super tasty btw 😋👏😍

@Ogechi I think I’ve watched it more than 5 times and each time it’s funnier and more moving than the last. It never gets old. When I hear idiots hating on Addicted and calling it problematic I roll my eyes so hard. They did all the normal ish young people do when they’re innocent, confused by their feelings and don’t know how to handle their properly emotions yet.
There were no wrong things they did to each other that were glamourised. When they hurt or misunderstood each other they discussed it, begged the other for forgiveness and explained why they were apologising showing that they understand what they did wrong. So many times GuHai forgot his massive ego and explained why he felt insecure with YinZi and how important it was to have his feeling validated by hearing YinZi say he returned his feelings too, not just show it.
This series was a real watershed, depicted gay realities quite faithfully and is better than many gay shows written by gay men. That’s why it stands out.
How I wish that they still drop the 2nd season soon. I cried a lot so much now😭😭 I think a lot in hope of they can still continue to do another season of Addicted cause I am really addicted to it. I have a mixed feeling watching this video, so many words I can't express, the video shows the emotions itself. I just can't take the feelings I have felt right now when the series got banned by Chinese Government. Damn!!! I am still hoping and praying for the next season and I will still continue to wait for it. Love you both🤗❤️😩
