I think If you have canon 200D then no reason for the upgrade.
Eye AF for portraits could be one, else 200d is fine.

How long will the battery last if recording video??
Depends upon the quality of the video. For 4k video it lasted for 1.5 hours for me.

200d mark 2...because m50 has some issue during 4k ...
Both have bad af in 4K. M50 has a poor battery life because of the optical viewfinder while 200d ii has a very good battery life. Plus there is something about using a small camera it's doesn't give as much as a videographer feel. M50 uses efm lenses which are not many and are very expensive, 200D ii uses efs lenses which are not very expensive and have a lot of variety. You can even attach high end cine lenses to 200d ii.

If someone is looking to buy between 200d and 200d ii, i would suggest 200d ii as it has eye af (really useful for portraits and videos) and Digital IS.

Both the cameras have exactly the same video capabilities and the exact same sensor, both shoot 4k without dual pixel AF, and both shoot 1080p 60 with dual pixel auto focus. Instead the 200d(II) uses a bigger battery(LP-e12 vs LP-e17) and has a wider support for canon e mount lenses and does not need to use a converter for the canon lenses unlike the m50. Also the 200D (II) is cheaper.
Hence the 200d is obviously better than the m50.
Both are almost same. If you like the feel of a dslr camera, then this.
Plus efm lenses are expensive and are not many.
