I just started a new job. During the negotiation, they wanted to include a non-conpete that basically covered the entire state. I pointed out the hypocrisy that are recruiting me from a competing company, and if they wanted me they would not include a non-compete. They conceded that. I am probably one of the few people in my company not bound by this non compete. I am glad that this new ruling bans future non-competes. I don't want to work with people who are only there because they have to be there.

I am in agreement. Non-compete is similar to monopolizing talents in one company. A company will be too big to care and too big to fail, which will lead to executives misbehave with monetary.
American tax payers end up paying. We could use more businesses and new ideas. Competition is always good for consumers and economy. A lake is stale limiting water, river is always flowing bring in freshness.

I don’t believe this will work out as intended. It will help newer younger workers and in jobs where there is no trade secret knowledge and there is zero reason for a non compete. But just as it opens up vulnerabilities and competition for businesses it will do the same to workers-especially older workers and knowledge workers. It will create a stronger divide between select upper management and everyone else. Skilled workers are already treated like disposable commodities. In response to this businesses will adapt and restructure and further isolate worker positions so it’s easier to replace you with someone younger and cheaper, or eliminate the position with automation. Long term consequences for this will not be what people think, because businesses will adapt and it will be with people competing with you for your job sourced globally and for less than they are paying you. It will be a wash win for business. I believe it will be upheld by the Supreme Court and if it is, you can bank on it that it’s because they think it will have the long term effect of depressing wages overall and that’s what they want. Both parties blame lower middle class workers for inflation and think wage suppression is the best way. This is not for you or your workers rights. It’s a Trojan horse for globalists and wage suppression theory.

Everyone says Lina and the FTC is right until they are on the other end of their IP/Business being wrecked because someone stole your idea and maybe they have more capital to bring it to market. The burden of proof will be on the person whose idea is stolen to prove it even though it may be next to impossible. Instead of eliminating it completely, why not reduce the time it is in place and create a system where the reach is reduced? This requires a middle ground solution.
