    Is yours a 930-057A or 206-545C transaxele. I have a 206-545C.
Do you know if the seal for the brake shaft can be removed and replaced without taking the case apart? I have a small oil leak and don't want to get into a project if possible. Thanks

I wonder if something like "00" grease would work. I've seen people use that in the gear boxes of old Ariens snowblowers when the seals were shot. It's heavier than gear oil but light enough to still flow onto the chains and gears.

The mark up is crazy on parts eh. Well----- thanks for the look into my transmission I have a 180. Your working on GREEN stuff!!!!!. It is a sealed transmission correct? I abuse mine when plowing snow, reverse to forward and back and forth. Thanks for the great video (I am still in Mexico) Bruce

Don't know how I missed this comment Bruce! Yes, sealed, with no way in but to take it apart. On working transmissions, I will bore a hole into the case and pour diesel (about 3-4 ounces) to help liquefy the Bentonite and prolong the life of the transmission. I'll then plug the hole with a rubber plug and on occasion, make sure it's still there. Zip~

Most shops do a 100% mark up. Don't know why. Because they order parts online some really cheap some OEM. But charge OEM double price on all.

Hey zippo have you ever tried an alternative lube for the transaxle? I've heard conflicting thoughts about gear ouls and thought a good quality wheel bearing grease may be good in my 820, any thoughts? I dont work the tractor hard so wondering about switching the lube as soon as my reverse chain arrives. Thanks

I would replace the Bentonite with a good quality light grease mixed (thinned) with some gear oil. Zip~

sounds like it might be a sheared key,, did you get a chance to try out your little flexible camera thing you bought a few weeks ago,, ?

+MissouriOldTimer Yes, I posted a short video in the series with the pole saw showing the bore. It works better than I anticipated for only costing 14 bucks!

    Hi zippo 😊
    I split my peerless
    Having a go at it
The drive shaft was caked in bone dry Greece
    Cleaned it all out
How many seals go on it ?
Is it just 1 either end

Typically, no seals at all are used except possibly at the axle ends depending on the model. Be sure to separate all of the gears and make sure they are not fused together with that crap grease. Cheers! Zip~
