ok so i go to this sleepaway camp and i swear to god the closing campfire is legitimately a cult. it starts off with everyone walking up the hill in a single line singing/chanting to the beat of a drum while the counselors in training stand along the way holding candles. three c.i.t.s light the candles of work, health, and love and each unit takes a stick, says the unit’s wish for the camp in the future, and throws the stick into the fire. then each unit leader talks about that week’s campers and then they sing one of the night songs (softer more quiet songs as opposed to upbeat, oftentimes ridiculous day songs). then we cross our right arm over our left and hold the hand of the parson to our left and sing some song about friendship. then the c. i. t. s lead us in some more night songs. the night ends with the work health love candles being blown out and everyone going back down the hill in the same way they went up. The cultish aspect is heightened by the fact that everyone is super somber bc we don’t want to leave the camp and this year some people legit cried bc they didn’t want to leave camp. but they also did this silently. very spooky.

Traditions are very different depending on the culture, one can argue that the natives ritual dances were that of a cult, when in reality, it was just their beliefs, such as Christians have their own beliefs and ceremonies and those of different backgrounds and religions have theirs. I personally do witchcraft, and I don’t really see the problem with any of this, as long as no one is getting hurt or drugged, what’s the issue? You have the right to leave, you aren’t binded there like in the movies.

As a Midwesterner, who has camped multiple times in her life, this is so goddamn funny. Like the moth, the family singing together, the tent set-up, holy shit this was incredible to watch.
As a person who loves the occasional camping trip and is actually good at it, this was sad. As a viewer, this was hilarious. I would like to see this as a two part series with Shane and the squad, actually..

If it was the park ranger he would've walked around once and left. But they said they kept hearing the footsteps randomly right next to their tent. And in the video you can hear they were really slow and almost sneaky. A park ranger would've walked around once hastily and then continued on to the next campsite. And also the fire they lit wasn't near their tent which they said when they heard the creepy family singing. They're two pretty girls that admitted to just about everyone that they've never been camping before. Who knows who was out there or what their intentions were. I was waiting for them to pull out the machete and taser lol.
