I’m indifferent to staying with D2 or getting a D3, but if we do get a D3 it needs to be designed from the beginning to last over 10 years. I’m fine with a D3, but I don’t want to ever hear about a D4, D3 needs to be the final game and the entire next saga should be part of that game.

The problem with Destiny 2 right now is a new player will never understand this game. I don't think there is another game out there that is this bad. Especially that Bungie doesn't explain anything.
What you are saying with Destiny 3 has to be built from the ground up is spot on. Even after five years of a hypothetical D3 launch the original tutorial still has to work. The original menus still have to work. Destiny 2 is such a Frankenstein thing at this point. Because nothing was planned out back in 2017. They made everything up on the way. Absolutely unacceptable

I believe Dr. Seuss' quote is a genuine piece of advice here, *"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."*
I am extremely happy and proud where this game started and where it is now. In this day and age where some games just virtually die in 1 patch or on launch day. I played this god damn game in middle school and I believe most reading would feel this sentiment. It's just an emotional journey and we don't want to let go of it, but we should remember to look behind our shoulder and see how far it has gone and be glad the memories and feelings and emotions it has cemented in our brain. Our brain is so powerful to replay those emotions and feelings and it's scary how powerful the mind truly is the more you think about. My favorite memories will always be getting the Hammer of Sol the first time. The feeling of being invincible having access to the last element that the other 2 classes had and if felt illegal. Seeing the hive get light powers the feeling of dread and betrayal and the anticipation of showing them what the "crucible is all about". I will forever cement this game as one of my favorites until I grow old and die. This game will literally be MY boomer shooter to my grandkids. It's weird being in that position now and it feels comforting knowing how some of my older relatives might've felt when they shared a memorable game they had in their childhoods.

You know, I’ve done this with my clan now that the game is slowly losing steam as it went full circle, and I can tell you what it’s great. We (my most consistent fireteam) went through and talked about some of our favorite moments in Destiny 2 together. The first that came to me was when we beat day 1 kingsfall, and although while not the hardest, definitely was very difficult for us as it was my first real attempt at a day 1 raid. I remember running upstairs to celebrate with my brother as we spent all night running it. We’re celebrating and hugging and I’m like dude why is it so bright outside, to which he calmly responded, “that’s the sun you idiot”. That’s something that really meant a lot to me. Other moments are two and three man raid moments (shout out trio vow exhibition) but also some of my random raid shenanigans. We made a wheel of unlucky options and I won’t forget raiding on 1 sensitivity or someone learning bumper jumper on the fly. Overall, the time I spent was worth both it and the money. Unfortunately for me, my brother made peace with the game after we beat salvations edge. He’s done with destiny and it’s a little sad because unironically the game is what finally started our friendship. This game did a lot for the both of us and we have clan mates who are planning to fly out for his graduation in 2 years. Just a cool game that was fun to play.

    Here’s my personal theory:
These three episodes (echoes, revenant, and heresy) is humanity cleaning up or getting our house in order and then frontiers is going to be all about leaving the Sol system to expand our new alliance. Helping our allies reclaim their home worlds (Riis for Mithrax and house light and Torobatl for the cabal) and turning them into other capitals for our alliance. This could also allow us to potentially visit places like Fundament or other places that we have heard about in the lore.
    That’s just my theory though.

I feel like thats very obviously what they're setting up, frontiers is a very on the nose name IMO, but I don't think we'll be leaving sol until D3, and I think that might be the base game campaign for the next game.
In addition to your theory tho, we already know that we'll be going back to the dreadnought for episode 3 because something fucky is going on there, and I think we're going to kind of take over the dreadnought for ourselves, and that's what we'll use to go to other systems in D3.

    • @beguiledmage0473
      @beguiledmage0473 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@tyjames3339 yeah I think that’s a very obvious thing that we are probably going to commandeer the dreadnought and use it for our own purposes.
Also I’ve seen multiple people say that the planets thing wouldn’t be til D3 and, don’t get me wrong I would love for D3 to be in development, but with bungie stretching themselves between these different projects we’ve heard about and trying to get Marathon ready to launch I just don’t really see D3 happening that soon. Again, I hope I’m wrong because I would love a D3 but that’s just my thoughts. I think they could maybe buy some time by having Riis and Torobatl as destinations like mars in the current game and then have base D3 in the future be some new threat challenge the alliance during their time of peace. Maybe by attacking the three capitals (Earth, Riis, Torobatl) all at the same time.
But at the end of the day I’m just a fan of the game theorizing for the future. I don’t know what will happen

@@tyjames3339 I could buy that one spinfoil theory that Bungie's going to essentially use the plot of us on the road to nuke the Tower and close off a lot of current planetary locations to retire places and add in new ones. There was always that leak that even played into a few old lore pieces(Osiris Prophecies, Psion predictions from the one exotic quest, etc) that the Tower wasn't safe nor would the Red War be the last time the Last City really got slammed. I wanna say the theory was that Xivu would destroy the Tower. It wouldn't shock me in the slightest if Bungie really just tried to keep a lot of stuff to tabs on the star map and less interactive space since the Tower already is a bit of a whatever place holder and this game still has never really had any MMO server familiarity or community in game social space that meant anything.

    • @Ryna113
      @Ryna113 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Yeah but its a necessary evil because before seasonal stories we had basically no character development or arcs for like 95% of the cast, and most of the stuff we DID get was lore tabs that most people didn't read. Cayde-6 was the only character anyone cared about for the longest time because everyone else was just completely one dimensional. People love Crow but until TFS his entire arc happens in Seasonal stories and lore tabs lol. Expansions like Forsaken were also built up through lore tabs rather than actually in game, so if you played Red War and then went to Forsaken without reading the right lore you'd have no idea why this random jail break is happening.
Wish there was some kind of rotator where an old season comes back for a few weeks so people can actually play those stories again instead of being told to go youtube some fan compilation. People shouldn't need to rely on fan resources to understand whats going on y'know? I think one of the most important parts of this outside of a revamp to how gameplay would work, is the update to the visual pallette.
We have been seeing more and more weapons that are obvious reskins of prior weapons, often in cases where it hadn't been common; patrol, seasonal, raid weapons..etc. These were mostly newer models or at least weren't obvious, but with a new game, we would likely get a complete refresh. Even if things are getting better, when weapons are sharing so many similarities, it can often feel like we aren't moving forward as much as we are.

I think the community finally needs to accept that having ONE game to play every day, for every week of every month is just not feasible at the scale of Destiny 2, you can't even throw more resources or money into it with the current technology D2 is made of it will never be able to deliver content in a way to satisfy those every day players. IMHO Bungie should completely drop their FOMO model, because I believe that's the source of the problem.
If d2 had no FOMO, people would be much more willing to drop it for a couple of months to play other games and then come back to catch up on an entire season/episode/whatever for a couple of weeks, that would fix everything that players are feeling right now, even the hardest of hardcore players would have weeks of catching up on grinding before taking a break again.
But if Bungie keeps having a lackluster drip fed delivery of content while simultaneously trying to keep players playing every day of every week... well, the game's gonna die.

It’s the post expansion episode, it’s not even (time wise) half way done, we haven’t been able to fully experience what the “episode” model offers - we haven’t seen the act 3 activities, the new exotic mission that they keep saying will be incredible, and they’ve already committed to changing how story beats drop for episodes 2 and 3. All this talk of “the current grind sucks, I want a new game… where I can…. Grind…”. I’ve gotten to the point as a player where I’ve muted the term destiny on Twitter and unfollowed almost all creators, because it seems like nothing, will EVER be enough the majority of the speaking heads in the destiny community. We just came off the end of a 10 YEAR story arc. It’s going to take time to build up to the same level of suspense and intricacy that we’ve had in story telling for the past 3-4 years. Despite the critical acclaim many people had, singing the praises of the final shape, here we are a few months later, back to the same disgruntled calls for “more. More. More.” At this point, I’m not even convinced people like Gladd actually even EVER liked playing destiny. I think they’ve learned how to monetize anger and greed, and that’s all they do.

I was actually upset that Beyond Light forced us to use it (I was like Zavala haha) but I eventually caught up to its value, in time for Final Shape. Now I have builds for it and I'm having fun with it. Stasis too! I grumbled about that in Lightfall but I took to it eventually and quicker than with stasis because of the hunter spinny stasis-balls. They're too fun.
But the art and environments, and music! Good lord. The excellence drips all over and I don't mind just hopping in world and slowly walking around taking it all in. E.g. When the lore came out about the Savathûn manipulation melody and starting to hear it from characters in game like "I'm on the moon, it's made of cheese", was just so perfect. Savathûn is the best antagonist to take the most delightful and playful thing and absolutely corrupting it haha. Such a monster. I spent a lot of time visiting each NPC waiting to see if they'd hum or say something about the melody. This is the kind of self-adventure, self-discovery I do in games like these. It's my own fun to have. :)

I think the chase for gear has always been a highlight for the game. I do believe over the years that excitement has died down a lot due to either massive powercreep with abilities and subclasses outright just nuking entire rooms that just end up negating any real need for weapons, and just the ease of access to acquire new gear, mainly just because crafting has really cut down the loot chase grind down a lot for me at least. Armor for the most part hasn't been something I needed to grind for in the last 2 years, mods are available to everyone as soon as they hit a certain guardian rank, and even weapons aren't really something I need to chase that often anymore other than for collection sake because the stuff I used last year and even 2 years ago still hold up well to this day. It's why I would be perfectly okay with a full on reset if we were to get a Destiny 3.
But if we had to get a Destiny 3, we'd seriously need to change up the pace, not like how Destiny 2 launched where we had to wait till forsaken to really get the ball rolling. From the start, there should be a blend of familiarity and something new to separate the games. New playable races maybe, new subclasses, flyable ships, a reworked patrol zone to have a reason to be there other than just the campaign and the activity tied to it.

When the witness was introduced to when we went on the heavy duty built up mission to fight him(endgame), it was a satisfaction. Now its left the question of "whats next?". Bungie sure had some type of imagine of what needs to be done, but right now its the fatigue of going backwards after such a huge conclusion to being like "oh we just saved the universe, now there's another person? who can also some how rise up after the witness? Someone bigger than the witness?"

I played Destiny 1 and 2 at launch, so I am no stranger to it. Make no mistake.
Considering we just got The Final Shape and all this new content these past few years… all of which are VERY replayable…
I think that jumping to Destiny 3 RIGHT NOW is not a good idea, at least.
Let them take time to work. I think Bungie knows they don’t want to fumble another launch, so they are not gonna rush the next one out the door like they did back when Activision was pressing them. Meanwhile, D2 still receives some decent content.
Even if Destiny 3 isn’t coming out for a long while more… Destiny 2 can still provide well into the foreseeable future if Bungie decides to add more expansions even now.
The Final Shape is not necessarily the end for D2, and we know this. Maybe I’m the only one who still feels the rush considering I took a 5-year hiatus, and also having modern Halo break my heart for the 300th time… but I’m glad I am back in D2 and I am going to keep playing.

But it’s always taking a back seat to my nightly routine of jumping online and shooting shit in what is largely THE BEST feeling first person shooter that exists. And it’s that combination of space magic and FPS that makes this game something we all enjoy so much.

There are all these talks about removing classes from our guardians in D3. And I think the only way to truly justify that is to have Guardian be one of multiple classes in the game. We've been introduced to so many other forms of power over the years, made allies of so many races, that I see, especially in an MMO setting, a game with more broadly diverse classes.
The Guardian is the human (or human offshoot), or Lucent Brood who wields powers of light and dark.
The Fallen, who focuses heavily on stealth and arc technology, with a shank buddy that provides support.
The Cabal, who's even tankier than Titan-specialized Guardians. And uses big, cudgel-like weapons and shields. Maybe you get a pet Warbeast you can command to attack enemies.
The Cloudstrider, one of many who are part of a new initiative, increasing their number into an army of sorts. Using nanotechnology and skating around through the air.
The Techeun, an Awoken with powerful psychic abilities, such as telekinesis and mind-control.
If we are going full MMO, broadening the scope of classes, races and player choice would be insane and create an enormous draw for the game.

This would be so cool but I find it hard to understand how'd they'd make it work with the game being an FPS. It'd definitely work for PvE but for PvP I guess they'd have to lock people into the more humanoid classes due to hitboxes. Unless they revamp PvP to be slighlty hero shooter inspired in the way the different classes/roles work. Cabal would server the more traditional tank role using its bigger hit box to mitigate damage from his teammates and using skills to open up opportunities for his team to win.
But that would be a drastic shift from what current D2 PvPers enjoy.

    • @LordEmpyreal
      @LordEmpyreal 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@nycto5335For PvP, I think the main outlier would be the Cabal. A Fallen can have a similar enough size to have balanced hitboxes and speed.
They would more or less just have to make the Cabal bad in PvP on purpose, so that it's not a popular pick. Which wouldn't be too hard, they are so big and will definitely be slower, so just keep the health balanced the way it is between the classes now so they also don't have an actual ttk advantage. Players can choose to play Cabal in PvP if they want but it will be one of those "you have the disadvantage and you know it going in" situations, like using bad guns and subclasses are in the current meta.

The real reason why Destiny needs a sequal is actually for a reason that no one has talked about yet. It's too expensive for new/returning players. The only players that are going to play the game at this point are the existing playerbase, which will only ever decrease in size.
I only took a year off from the game, yet if I want to play the game right now, today, I would have to spend $130 just to continue playing a 7 year old game... That is completely ridiculous. Here is an idea for a reset but that still allows you to bring something. Everything you have on your character, your loadout + the 9 slots for each main slot. Is all that you are allowed to have with you.
It would make sense that for a D3 Bungie try to bring all the exotics from both D1 and 2, seeing that they are bringing in the exotics from D1 right now. The only major thing that would need to be planned is Legendary armor and weapons. Not everything would be put into D3 so what may be worth them doing is setting a base weapon and armor that is craft-able and give it all the perks and stats of the existing armor and weapons your character has.
IE you have a shotgun, pulse, and hand cannon with two armor chest pieces one for grenades and another for damage and resilience. Each Item in this case is from a completely different season with different textures. An idea could be to make a base craft-able set of weapons and perhaps also armor and replace all the seasonal items with said base items only set said base items with all the stats and perks from the D2 counterpart. Doing it this way makes it so they are very likely to behave and function the same. Mind you one Key thing is weapons are much more likely to have behind the scenes stat differences, but this can be overcome by Bungie making it so they can be modified only though the system that allows you to "transfer" Your items.
Mind you overall I've explained my idea in a fairly complex way but the sum is bungie could make a base set of items for D3 that are all craft-able allowing them to have a larger set of perks and stat combos. If bungie does this they can also set things so you can in some regard "transfer" your armor and weapons but in reality you are just giving yourself the same set of items all with the exact same stats and perks and behaviors as your D2 counterpart. It would be hard in some ways but that comes down to how willing bungie is to making weapons for the most part malleable and flexible with stats.
Overall this makes it so you are still being reset but you are being reset in a way that allows you to still bring some of the tools you want to play with. This will allow for variety and some customization when playing right away while again, still being a restart overall.

One issue I routinely have had with D2 is the simplest question,
“Will this grind be worth it for X item (s) come next season?”
As someone who casually plays, if I login and spend 10 hours over a weekend trying to get “X” done and then immediately a couple months later it’s all but unusable, that’s when I feel like my time is wasted.
There needs to be a better balance for the casual/grinders and if it’s just going to be a grinder based game, then that’s okay. But you’ll watch the numbers decrease in a large compacts because most people are in fact some level of a casual player.

ive been played destiny since day 1 destiny 1 and ive had my highs and lows with it but i cant argue its a brilliant game but what keeps me playing is the fact that my "S O" has just started and she loves it and i see myself in the joy and excitement when we play and she sees the universe and i think i will keep playing until my "S O" starts to feel the drag of the grind.

I have thousands of hours in this game, I still enjoy it. Yes, it gets stale every once in a while and I’ve had to play other games just to keep my sanity but this expansion has been pretty freaking fun with tons of stuff to do. This community always wants more stuff at a faster pace. Then we complain about every single thing. They gave us a raid, new nightfall, a great story, new maps and Trials loot. Let’s not forget Prismatic!!! I haven’t even unlocked all three characters yet.

You can't have a witness level event every 6 months, it just cannot be done. I'm with Destiny from when I first picked up D1 at the Taken King, and I'll be here until whatever Destiny has next.

It's simply time for a dungeon at this point. I think they just need to be PROACTIVE. Rotate raids with a little more challenge to them and add in new armor\cosmetics from them like at the end of D1. Do anything challenge for Bungie.

As a dad, provider and casual gamer, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of Destiny. I took a break with season of the deep because fishing sucked lol but came back right after that and it was glorious. Thing I love about Cross is he’s not pessimistic about Destinys future whereas Gladd in my eyes, is crying about the high wearing off 😢. Boo woo, casual people like myself love this game because it’s a rare moment in time where we can relax and play with our friends that hopefully we’ve been playing with for 10 years. Thankfully I have the same group I started D1 with. Anymore these days people love to cry and want more more more, constant hormone dump, constant new, constant more. Shuuuuuut uppppp…be thankful we’ve had a franchise we have all played for over a decade now, shits crazy but soo many people just want more and it’s annoying. Attention span of gerbils 😂. I myself, will happily play this game to its entirety and if/when a D3 drops, hopefully I’ll be still playing it in another 10 years. This game is something I look forward to getting my sons into once they’re old enough and nothing could make me happier than that when it comes to gaming.

In frontier’s or D3 we need more worlds to feel ALIVE, like walking around a new planet and seeing wildlife, like a big mythical creature that we can leave be or can be disturbed and attack us.

Make D3 and let D2 fade. Everyone talks about keeping all the stuff they earned when in reality 98% of it sits in their vault. You aren’t using it. Have the community vote on a finite number of items to carry over. Include cosmetics. Engine upgrade and improved visuals and explore some of the side stories/ other major story lines.

I think as a player who has played since the red war first released that we need a D3. I recently deleted one of my characters that I didn't use that often and found that the starter campaign has been replaced by one that barely even teaches new players how to play. Not only that but a lot of the stuff that was once part of the grind (blue items and grey items) are barely present anymore with them only recently starting to pop up more with TFS. I feel that D2 is gonna get to the point where eventually everything will need to get replaced as their game engine grows and their code becomes less and less refined with time. I know it will only happen again with D3 but atleast we'll have another actual starting campaign and the natural grind of the game again, even if only for a few more years when the game needs more refining.

Ive been apart of the destiny community since D1 i was there for every expansion and content drop, D2 after forsaken i found myself taking break after break. As the light and dark saga ended i picked up lightfall, and the remaining expansions. Destiny has always had a honeymoon feeling. But burn out hits hard. I by no means am a hardcore player but i do enjoy D2. I think a refresher would be awesome but i dont think the D2 story is done and im overall just excited.

It doesn’t HAVE to be a D3. It can stay/remain D2 BUT it needs a complete engine overhaul. It has to be specifically done this way to hold the direction of the future & nod to the DCV.
You have all this content, seasons/arcs/lore in the DCV. Make the Engine Overhaul and ROTATE that stuff in!!

For D3 a compromise would be for them to let us pick 5-10 things from our vault to bring into the next game and then force us to find them in the D3 world in a timely manner. Bad take but I don't mind when things slow down like this after an expansion. It gives me a chance to play other games I have been neglecting like Diablo 4, Forza Horizon 5, Dying Light 2, Remnant 2, etc. I'm not a casual Destiny fan but not a hardcore one either. I play through an expansion>do all of the epilogue quests>grind a bit for a couple weeks doing whatever>then I take a break. I used to play Halo 12 hours a day back when it was popular on the 360 and a buddy of mine told me the only reason I always do better than him was because all I know is Halo. I'll never forget what he said and it made me experience other amazing games.
