- In this video, I show you how I installed an OEM trailer hitch on my 2025 Honda Pilot, saving myself around $400-$500 in the process. I’m not a professional installer, but I wanted to share my experience for entertainment and to help anyone else who might be considering doing this on their own.
Important Note:
Please make sure to review any official installation manuals or guidelines before attempting this installation yourself. This video is based on my own experience, and while I hope it’s helpful, it’s always best to double-check with the manufacturer’s instructions.
What to Expect:
• A step-by-step walkthrough of the hitch installation process
• Tips and tricks that I found helpful along the way
• My honest experience as a non-professional DIYer

thank you very much you are my hero you are the best my brother. 💪🏼💪🏼🙏
Happy to help!
I just had wiring harness put on my 2025 pilot that came with a towing package. Crazy that Honda sells it with the tow package and NO Wiring harness. I just wish they made a piece that made wiring harness look more “finished”
How much did it cost to install and did you have it done by the dealership?
$400
@@AJTee-mj2yy what a scam
No ATF cooler for the new 10AT! I had my hitch installed by the dealer and I specifically asked them if there's one and they said no. The HFA should also be installed when installing the hitch to preserve the hands free function. The HFA relocates the sensor from where the hitch is installed.
@@DY81149 thanks for the info!
What trim Pilot do you have and do you have the HFA? If you do, did you replace it with the one required to use it with a hitch? I see a lot of these videos but no one talks about the hand free assist replacement. I guess no one uses it. Heck I couldn't even install my hitch without removing the HFA. Thanks
I have the EX and don’t have the HFA.
@@tapandtoolbox Ah OK. I just did some more research and found out the HFA does need to be removed and the replacement is shorter as not to interfere with the hitch. Thanks!
Nice job bro, I will probably do this to my pilot as well, thanks for all the tips 🫡
Finally got my hands up there to remove the silver panel and wow theres no room for those top 10mm bolts. Im confident i can get them removed, but worried about getting them started when the new panel is on. Any additional tips?
I just bought the exact same 2025 pilot question if u so this instead of having the dealership do it does it void the manufacturer warranty on the sensors or the camera
@@rlee8625 its a honda OEM part and i didnt have to go anywhere near the sensors or camera
I’m glad everything worked out. Sorry for the late reply! I agree that you don’t come near the sensors or camera.
Where did you buy your hitch from and harness? Do you have a website? Also, did you buy lower rear bumper? My bumper is lower model kit and doesn't come with hitch accessory connections on bumper.
www.collegehillshonda.com had better pricing than most
Yes, I had to buy a different lower piece of the bumper. All from the website
Thanks for sharing! Did you have to take the entire bumper off or just the panel which is replaced with a new hitch panel?
You are welcome. Only the panel of the bumper not the whole thing.
Looks like the replacement panel is a different color. Is the original color available?
@kurtroberts2310 yes, I chose this color.

This dealer near me had great prices compared to most of the Honda dealers I checked.
Thanks, what about the hands-free tailgate opener sensor?
@greicinvega7320 I will have to dive deeper to see if I can add this to mine. Depending on cost of course and I’ll make a video
Where did you buy parts from?
www.germainhondaofcollegehills.com/parts/
Best price I found around me when I did it.
Did your pilot come with a transmission oil cooler? It is my understanding that it would be needed to tow at the 5K weight level.
@oaktrim to be honest I am unaware. I’ll have to dive deeper… my dealers service department told me I just need the hitch and harness plus AWD to provide the max 5k capacity. They seemed unsure, but I couldn’t find anything in the manual.
No need. AFT cooler already installed for all after 2023 Pilot - confirmed with Honda directly
The dealers are all retarded. They quoted me 2,500 dollars to do this job, said “nothing is plug and play we have to wire everything. And we have to take off the whole rear bumper it’s multiple hours in labor. I didn’t believe them and walked out. Glad I watched this vid” will def do it myself I have a 2025 eXl should be the same as this
