This was huge for me. I just bought this kit and have never setup a drum kit before. One thing I'd note for people new to drums like me is that the clips on the rack that hold the drum and cymbal mounts can rotate if loosened. There is no explanation in the instructions that those can be adjusted. I thought it was built wrong. Thanks so much for this video. Saved me hours of headache!
100% I just spent half an hour scratching my head for exactly this reason and came here for the answer from a video that just assumes the same knowledge as the leaflet. Finally I can pass go!
I wish I would have read your post before spending almost an hour on step one...and it ws just by accident that I noticed that the clamps rotated when loosened....
LMAO bruh - I LOVE the production and commitment to the video, but I needed an actual instructional video. Speeding thru the footage and telling me to "follow to picture guide and put it together" is wild LMAOO
The thing that really frustrated me was the fact that the drum holders were place on the rack in a random position without letting us know that if you twist hard enough when the screw is loosened, it actually rotates. I didn't want to break it until I got fed up and cranked on it and it turned...lol OMG! They could have mentioned that and even the video said nothing about it. Oh well... Lastly, I am trying to figure out how to listen with something other than 1/4" jack for phones. It that was the case, an adapter would have been nice.
Had same issues, till we realised that although the lines and grooves have to line up, if you unscrew the wing nuts until they’re more loose then they do actually turn round while clicking. The sleeve within the cylinder of the bracket does turn eventually allowing you to adjust to any position. 👍🏼Give it a try. Then you really can position each of the brackets to match the diagrams.
Important detail that may help you and that NOBODY EXPLAINS is that you can rotate the alignment of the clamps, so that it makes sense with the alignment of the pads. Just loosen them a little and they click counter and clockwise.
In addition to what @iasonevan posted being able to rotate the mounts I MUST add in the note that the kick pad base has two screws with VERY SHARP points that dig into the floor to keep it from moving. So be WARNED or your floor will get chewed up if you let them contact your floor. I put Velcro on the bottom of the mount between the screws to hold it in place. The part of the velcro on the floor will come up later when needed w/o damaging the floor. If you have a rug area to work then this should not be an issue. Also look closely and you will see all the mounts for the drums and cymbals are positioned so that when you place the rods in for the drums and cymbals the holes they are in are on the side of the frame AWAY from you....the backside as you sit down in front of the set.
3:00 I think that is wrong, softer side of the beater should make contact with kick pad to prevent damage. no trigger issues at all. Can you give more info how tight should mash heads be, Should it be possible to press in center little bit, or to be tighter?
No, it's not wrong, it's supposed to be this way - see Alesis' own setup guide video here => /watch?v=h4O65CLP6d4&t=644s, explanation (and a _waaaaaaaaaay_ more complete/detailed/in-depth setup video) here => /watch?v=aVlcDL_eJN8&t=775s
Hello, Tanya! Yes, the Nitro Max kit can be assembled for left-handed playing. During assembly, simply mirror the locations of each component as they're presented in the setup guide.
Hey there! Check out section 4.3 (page 20) of the Nitro Max user guide for instructions on how to use its record function. Here's the Alesis-hosted link for the user guide in PDF format: 7132afa424c2f1a2ab6d-54d68a14e2e7c1f76563a2d8c3e9fd82.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/2102/documents/Nitro%20Max%20Drum%20Module%20-%20User%20Guide%20-%20v1.1.pdf
Don't know yet but i saw a comment on a youtube video which said that it worked to then when they used Roland style splitting cables which have 100 ohm resistor in it but there was an cancelling issue with that but i saw a video in which that cancellation issue was resolved
"Simply follow the instructions on how to assemble the rack?" The ones that you can't see becaue they are black and you can't tell what ends the clip go onto and the directions say things like "Secure crossbar" then don't tell you what to secure it to - that's it and it indicatest that each part is labeled but none of the parts are labeled?
Yes, the included drum key is needed for tightening the drum heads; the heads are intentionally shipped a little loose to prevent potential damage during shipping. Check out 1:37 for more on this.
Hello! The 1/4" (6.35mm) output jacks on the Nitro Max module can be used to connect to many kinds of mixers, PA systems, or external speakers. Alesis specifically recommends a drum amplifier for best results. Useless instructions. The cross bar track doesn’t align with the grooves so the supports for the toms are all wrong. The instructions with the kit are also useless.
I thought I was going insane too when I was studying the instructions multiple times. The cross member mounts did not look at all like the instruction pics. Thank you for the clarification
Bruh, ispecifically looked for this videos because the posts are not marked, sure they're marked in the guide but there is (at least not obvious to me) no way to tell which is post F or H or I, so.. dont tell me to follow the instructions lmao
I’m not gonna lie, these instructions absolutely suck. The parts don’t align with how the drums are supposed to be positioned and why would they fast forward through the actual assembly part😭
I've got a Roland TD11KV, and I must say this isn't bad for the price. Out of the box it sounds pretty good , whereas with the Roland, you have to work quite a bit at getting the kits to sound good. I'm buying this mainly for taking to band prac, as it's very light in comparison to a big Roland kit. I'll even use it for gigs as the modules sounds are deff good enough. (with a bit of tweeting here and there) 😊
This a great kit for the price. It sounds good right out of the box, and it sounds great with the BFD program, which is free by the way. I researched every drum kit in this price range and this one beat them all. The hi-hat pedal even works on it! As someone else said "$499 is about what you would pay for a good acoustical snare drum alone".
I had a $3000 Roland kit formerly owned by Michael Shrieve of Santana....this is better...why? because right out of the box, the sounds esp with BFD option, are superior. The Roland module was a lot of work for me and without diving deeper into the settings, the sounds were ok but not great ...I will always prefer playing an acoustic set but for practicing with songs late at night without disturbing the family, for the $359 cost, and pretty darn good sounds, this kit works better for me than the Roland. Of course if you are going to go on stage, the Roland set I had, which looked like an acoustic set, works.

God bless you. Ive been sitting here for 30 minutes trying to figure out why my clamps were vertical and his/the instructions were horizontal
Mate you are a lifesaver, as a complete drumming newbie I was looking at it thinking I had to take it apart again.

EXACTLY im so frustrated and I’ve only unboxed everything
I know the manual does nothing to help the user

I’m having issues with my kick pedal bouncing to where it’s like. I’m using double kick. Do I need to tighten the spring on the kick pedal?

Hey I'm not sure what to do, just bought my kit followed all the instructions plugged in my headphones but I have no sound from any of the instruments
Same here. Trying to troubleshoot
@@bricerader312 follow up, I bought an amp along with the mono chord and it works perfectly
@@bricerader312same
@@bricerader312 I know it's been a while but did you figure out the problem? I just assembled mine and am not getting any sound at all.
You can use 1 velcro strap to strap the snare to the bar so it dosen't bend. Very useful for this kit the snare bar is kinda flimsy
They seriously need to update their manual.
Is there already a solution for the latency when connecting it to a PC or speakers, or not yet?
Can’t figure out audio wise, I don’t have a aux nor a computer I have headphones but no adapter
Thank's a lot!!! So helpful!!!
Où sont les instructions pour savoir où les cables vont par pitier ???
Any way to adjust the angle of the kick drum pedal? Seem like all that can be adjust is the tension spring.
3:00 I think that is wrong, softer side of the beater should make contact with kick pad to prevent damage. no trigger issues at all.
Can you give more info how tight should mash heads be, Should it be possible to press in center little bit, or to be tighter?
Ya..this make me confuse..so what is the correct side of the beater?? By the way, my set was nitro max special edition.
@@TheBubleTea yes of course, that is why it is soft, to make softer contact on impact.
It is absolutely wrong. Kind of wild that anyone would even say this. Of course the soft side needs to be rotated to connect to the pad.
I can’t put it together
Is it possible to arrange it for a left-handed person? I mean, all the parts flipped to the right? (Hi-hat at the right, etc…)
Hello, Tanya! Yes, the Nitro Max kit can be assembled for left-handed playing. During assembly, simply mirror the locations of each component as they're presented in the setup guide.
@@inMusicBrandsSupport great, thanks for the answer!

Anyone know if cable splitting works with this kit?
Don't know yet but i saw a comment on a youtube video which said that it worked to then when they used Roland style splitting cables which have 100 ohm resistor in it but there was an cancelling issue with that but i saw a video in which that cancellation issue was resolved

Footage doesnt match the picture guide which itself is already super unclear, extremely frustrating setup
Do i need a drum key to set this up?
Yes, the included drum key is needed for tightening the drum heads; the heads are intentionally shipped a little loose to prevent potential damage during shipping. Check out 1:37 for more on this.
So does the kit come with headphones and a throne?
No

Why didn't Alesis just use the drum key for all the drum kit screws ??? It just makes a lot of since !!!!!!!!!!
Unbox what does that mean,? Does that mean open the box and remove the products
Avez-vous une vidéo qui explique comment la plier pour la ranger ?
Just follow the picture instructions? Wouldn't be here if I could follow them! And the video is too slow, can you speed it up a bit!
Useless instructions. The cross bar track doesn’t align with the grooves so the supports for the toms are all wrong. The instructions with the kit are also useless.

I loosened the clamps on mine so they could move and twisted them to change the alignment for the toms.

Why do they show a drum stool in the beginning of this video? It DOES NOT come with a stool. You will need to buy that separately.
