There's another short film that you probably haven't seen yet, it's a short film, black and white, that features a beetle. it's sort of the prequel to the first Herbie film. I've only seen it once on TV and unfortunately I can't find it anywhere.
But have you ever seen that Logo with a Gap?? between the V and W. Makes no sense since the 2 always X at their intersection. Hence Volks Wagon. with an O.
@@TheSingularPatriot It’s amazing what you can find quickly instead of typing a comment and expecting others to find out for you. What is a gigawatt? A gigawatt is a unit of power equal to one billion watts or 1,000 megawatts.
Yes, its scary! In some shots, especially where he looks over his shoulder out of the small side window, I'd swear it was 1966 Simon Templar! This guy could have made a fortune as a double if he had just been closer to Moore's age....wrong time and place... Still, he got a charming and very amusing little VW commercial out of it!
This was an ad for the Mexican/Brazilian market long after production ceased for the US market in 1977 (1979 for the Super). The Delorean didn't even exist until 1981.

I don't know whether many people know this, but there are many Film Directors (who for some inexplicable reason) like to have a Volkswagen Beetle at some stage (On Set) whilst they are filming. Car appeals to millions. It's even in a Woolworths Grocery / Car insurance Ad (Australia) whilst writing this. It looks like a Mauve color, possibly a nice '67. Seeing this Clip, I swear that I was watching the (very young) Roger Moore, he's so good that he could be picked (By Chubby Brocoli) for a new Bond Film. A tribute to the real Roger Moore. I've owned a '71 Beetle for 20 years, and used daily. It's now 100% EV and Tesla - Powered.
Roger Moore as James Bond jumped in a yellow Citroen 2CV when his Lotus was blown up. Racing the baddies down a mountain side taking short cuts in For Your Eyes Only...
In 1981, I had the privilege of being able to photograph the very first DeLorean to be shipped to America for the purpose of commercials ahead of them being shipped to any dealers. I just took the photos for myself because I love cars and I had never seen anything like this before [real, not just a model] --- I happened to work right next door to the studio in Hollywood which would make the first commercial.
When he first got in the Delorean and closed the door I though the joke was Bond being trapped in the car. Many discovered to their misfortune when the door is pulled shut and you discover a dead battery - you can't open the electric powered inside door locks. And of course you have the keys with you inside! So they can't get you out! :)
Delorean cars were made in northern ireland from 1981 to about 83 . terrible quality from the start . I lived about 100 miles from the factory where they were assembled . the old beetles were a beauty to drive . not a lot of power , but you always got to where you were going .

Why did this take 10 years to reach my watch list?

Imagine how De Lorean owners felt! 😁
Don't be sad! It took 14 years for me.

Its funny because it’s true. Except maybe the part when Mr. Bond calls the VW with a sort of 80s Apple watch.
Nah people do all sorts of bizarre things with a beetle. For sure someone made a beetle that you can call from a smartwatch

Why choose a VW Beetle over a Delorean DMC 12? It's an iconic time machine. Besides the beetle being an iconic Racing car numbered 53.
This made me laugh so hard! Plus, I am a big James Bond Fan.

The bug is probably faster than the Delorean.
My first car, a '71 in this exact color (used). Including mine we had (4) in the family; a '66, '71, '72, and a '75.

Nice detail: The Delorean got its chassis based on the Y-frame of the 70ies Lotus.
Looks like the 80's
Sure is!
So a Roger Moore look-alike, makes fun of an over-teched out Delorean years before Doc and Marty?
What si your song
Maybe they couldn't rent a Lotus Esprit and instead chose a Delorean for resemblance 😅
when the wheels came off the delorean i thought it was gonna fly away. i was pleasantly suprised...
if James Bond would have headbutted the steering wheel the car would have started.
Muito legal o James Bond dirigindo o Fusca. Que ano passou este comercial ?
Eu tava lendo os comentarios, e eu vi que é dos anos 80. Provavelmente a metade dos anos 80
Approximately 1982

Accurate depiction of a DeLorean
Why who could ever imagine Jamesh Bongh driving a Volkshwagen?

The air-cooled superiority of SIMPLICITY. The same reason why the Sportster is still on top. At least till the EPA kills it as it did w/ the Beetle.
An early Cybertruck prototype, and just as reliable.
Better built than the Cyber truck, which tells you everything you need to know.
