- Lee Roy Parnell's immense talent and soulful approach has made him an icon in the music world, but his discriminating taste and emphasis on tone has made him a legend in the guitar community.
His '57 GoldTop signature model from Gibson Custom Shop became an instant classic for this reason, and it continues to be sought-after by collectors and guitarists worldwide. Lee Roy and the talented luthiers at Gibson Custom Shop took notice, and so began the process of creating a new version based on a ametop '59 Burst instead of a '57 GoldTop.
The construction elements remain the same, from the contoured cutaway edge to the revised pickup routes, which Lee Roy prefers in order to capture more character from the wood. Each features a hand-picked gured maple top accented by an "Abilene Sunset Fade" burst, inspired by Lee Roy's hometown in Texas
Under the hood, each guitar features an underwound '57 Classic humbucker in the neck, an underwound '57 Classic Plus in the bridge, and the all-new Vintage Tone Circuit which uses paper-in-oil capacitors and vintage taper potentiometers.
Every element has been given Lee Roy's seal of approval!

One of the most beautiful finishes I've seen...
That is a most gorgeous color and sunburst !!
Best ad I have ever seen...EVER! 😍
My Man Lee Roy!!!! He showed me this axe and let me play it at NAMM 2019! What a sweet axe...what a gifted Artist!!! #MikeJohnsonJazz
Beautiful guitar
Beautiful, indeed !!
Gorgeous Guitar in the Hands of a Master!
Lee Roy shows you can still play in the blues scales and your inner soul and create what is unique in you
Killer burst!!!
Lee Roy is a class act. So is this this Les Paul. I hope you do get to play with Clapton someday.
Looks stunning.
Got a LRP Goldtop. Nr. 14. Love it. But the new one is really awesome too. And listen to Lee Roy is always a pleasure.
Leroy Parnell is one of my favourite players. Gibson, I'm sure this guitar is one of it's very best, just by association with Leroy. Awesome!
hopefully my next guitar...best les paul i have seen
I have the greatest signature LP Standard ever made. It's the 'Wise Guy' edition in bourbon burst(2020 model). Has an extremely figured top for being only AA maple and it has a very unique mineral streak in the face which stands out. I can pick mine out of thousands if I had to. Fantastic guitar and the quality is second to none(except my 2006 Explorer). Even my lower end Faded T and LPJ Pro are top notch quality with no issues that I can find. My only dilemma is, which pickups to I like better? The BB 61R/61T or my 496R/500T's??? Quite different yet give me the exact tones I hear in my brain when needed. Yes I've been a Gibson fanboy since the late 80's. Btw, I purchased the bourbon burst because I think it'll look spectacular as it fades!
Gorgeous guitar!
Man that's perfection
That "Abilene" burst is so nicely understated - really splits the difference between "Iced Tea" (goes too dark) and "Mojave" (stays too light). And the sound ... well, it is a Les Paul. This one has made it onto my "Might be next" list :D
[EDIT] ... and THEN I saw the price :(.
LOL 😂 I decided to not look at the price after seeing that "burst", a light "herringbone" flame, wow... Lee Roy is one of the best slide players on the planet!
Im sellin some gear right now...gotta get that Les Paul!
Nice studio!...Thanks, Lee Roy, for letting us in on this beaut! Great name for a sunburst, too!...Not a pick guard man, either. That's ok...
I usually don't like signature guitars (yes, I know the Les Paul is technically a signature) but the Abilene Burst is simply one of the best looking finishes I've ever seen
I love gibson guitar
Hey Mark Agnesi - The man who owns Gibson Brands Inc. also owns Fender Musical Instruments and Deans Guitars ... This law suit was not authorized by the owner of Gibson Brands Inc.
Pall Mall straights!! ❤
Gibson No. 1...🤙😎🤘
Gibson is back!
They are back to hang themselves BIG TIME ! I hope it's for the last time. They deserve to go away.
@@groovydjs I have a 2017 and a 2018 and they are both great guitars frankly
Cs Gibson are great
Had no idea he was from my hometown
Wow that’s a beautiful Gibson Les Paul
That’s a very beautiful Gibson Les Paul standard right there
Only $7,500...well hell...I'll buy two or three.
Agreed!...You're paying for that burst color & the 57 Classics. Just the pups alone aren't cheap.
@Josh Stocks Wow! I thought that was one of the reasons reissues are so high dollar. I've always heard others brag about the 57's. I have the probuckers 2 & 3 in my Epiphone Les Paul and the 490R/498T in my SG which I love. Not really sure if I could tell the difference in all 3 in a blind test...
@Josh Stocks Correction: I was thinking of the PAFs from the 50's. Those babies are expensive.
Classic 57 sound awesome ! Anyone tried them against burst buckers or custom buckers ...seems more warmth on the classic 57 ! These classic reissue is purely awesome and unsold in France ! Sadly...cheers from France folks ! 👍
because they're balance wound ,bb and cb s are wound offset 😂
"Don't fight it!"
What is the main purpose of the underfund pup?
In the Marty's Guitar Tours interview of Lee Roy , Parnell shows a one off " Les Paul " made by
a Gibson luthier which Lee Roy hints is the absolute best Les Paul ever . Robin Ford supposedly
agrees . The guitar weighs 6.9 lbs. rather than the 8.5 - !0.0 lbs of most Standards. With the
weight reduction comes much better balance in the lap . The secret to this guitar is the
Paulownia body under a maple cap . It's my understanding that " Paulownia " is available ,
affordable , and proven in action on many Tele and Strat type guitars . The current Fender
Brad Paisley Tele features a Paulownia body . It seems to me that Lee Roy could have made
much more impact by designing a great sounding 7 lb. Les Paul with a Paulownia /Maple
body .
The purists wouldn't allow Gibson to make one. Any time they venture too far off the 57/58/59/60 spec, people throw a fit.
In the long run, that Golden Era of Gibson has probably done them more harm than good in terms of effectively handcuffing them to that era and disallowing for improvements being made to the Les Paul.
I have always loved a Gibson Les Paul ever since I was 10 years old
I am 26 years old now
8k or something like that?
Was the "Play authentic" just removed?
Yes it was. They just got in deep shit from it.
Gorgeous guitar but what’s ‘59 about it? 🤷♂️
I am a Gibson les Paul player myself
I sold all my Gibson guitars and other music gear and flew to USA from New Zealand to get married. Did not work out and I found myself back in NZ with no guitar. I tried a PRS SE first. It was okay and sounded good, but it would not let me play my licks due to how it responded when bending strings. I picked up a used 1997 Gibson Les Paul Studio thinking it would be a stepping stone to replacing my old ones, but it turned out to be the one for me. I was back in business. What a great guitar. Best Gibson I have had since 1990. Not sure why. I just sounds really good. I have worn the frets out in just a few months. I do not want another guitar now -- or another Les Paul at least, but I do miss my SG because they are a bit more on the wild side than a LP. If the new Gibson guitars are at least as good as this 90s Studio, then they will be okay and recover from the blip.
only the supreme feels balanced. the rest all feel like they want to jump off my lap, except my black beauty which is so heavy it cuts a groove in my leg. go with the roller bridge gibson.
Should have put custombuckers in it
That would make it an R8 or R9
I own two Gibson Les Paul s myself
But did you tried Dean Guitars ?
“At a price point I can afford!” Well, he is the minority because Gibson has priced themselves out of most musicians range. Unless you plan on having only one guitar your whole life.
Gibson have always been expensive, relatively. But, this is MEGA expensive.
First like, first comment
I own a 2010 Gibson Les Paul standard AFD
I am a proud owner of two Gibson Les Paul s
I own two Gibson Les Paul s
“Quality of the guitars we had in 1959, but a price guys like me can afford”... guitar costs 7500 dollars lol. Famous guys can afford it not us lol.
Sounds best with his STRAT!!! Hahahahahahahahaha... 😎
The problem with Gibson is that their quality control sucks. When people pay a lot of money for their products, they should at least receive an instrument that does not have issues right out of the box.
First
crappy nasaly usal tone of a reissue.
Might be the amp or the pedal he's using.
15.000 usd Trash fake
Gibson’s are overrated. My knock off is better and cheaper than any Gibson I’ve played.
Brandon Kruse lol naw bro they aren’t overrated
Ive had both. Its just a matter of money I guess.
It's just if you can afford em.nothing else like em.
Lindsay Ross they just aren’t worth the money. You’re paying for the name. Trust me. You’re better of spending that money on a good hand crafted guitar that has better pickups
Love my Gibsons. Couldn’t afford one now. Blues Lawyer guitars.
That’s a very beautiful Gibson Les Paul right there
Wow that’s a beautiful Gibson Les Paul right there
