  • Taken from the documentary "Soul Train The Hippest Trip In America". This clip focuses on how the dancers came to be and what they offered to the show. Even Don Cornelius(R.I.P.)himself gets down at the end. Several interviews with the show's staff and celebrities are included.

I''m almost 70 years young (and white), and Soul Train is where I learned to dance! I was hypnotized by the next to effortless movements of these people. This was one little "white nerd" who got invited to all the black neighborhood parties!! I'll never forget those times either. Everyone got along and I felt much more at east at these parties. Hell, I never got invited to the "snooty" parties because all everyone wanted to was sit around and talk! To hell with that! Miss Soul Train, its dancers, and Don Cornelius to this day!

"Omg" Did Don Cornelius knew how much "Soul Train" back in the 70's was a "Empire" and for the African-American culture. "It was a Movement...
People of color profit from Soul Train....
Happy Times happy times!!!!!!! I can remember when I was a little girl, and we used to wake up every Saturday get the house cleaned up, before Soul Train came on it was a event...
To know all the latest dances, the Soul Train Line, it swept across this nation and still to this day. Every wedding anniversary, and parties keep that traditional soul train line.
Don Cornelius I don't think he knew how big his vision was how he touched every human soul....
"I think in the music productions they, should give Don Conelius a reward and honor him for what he has given the African American culture".
Thank you Don Cornelius may you rest in Peace Love and Soul.

Indeed it did. I was born and raised in Baltimore, and at that time, I was incredibly young. So, I didn’t fully innerstand this phenomenon of a show. But I was somehow connected and in tune with SOMETHING that just felt special. Shout out to the great Patricia Davis. The Greatest Soul Train dancer.

No other show captured the heart and SOUL of its viewers, like Soul Train. Rest In Uhuru, to Don Cornelius and Mary Wilson. Also, sending love and peace vibrations to the greatest and my favorite Soul Train dancer of all time, Patricia “The Butterfly” Davis.

Wow...Soul Train was SO important to watch it became "must see TV". I remember it offered a hipper alternative to lame American Bandstand dancers. I even loved the Afro Sheen commercials that focused on Black hair care products, which was a first.

I was a university student in the US in the early 70s. Oh boy, I sure sure, sure enjoyed Soul Train dances. I never missed the weekly program. I wish they have a reruns of those beautiful dances. It was amazing how those sisters and brothers made those graceful, lovely and sexy body movements. U go to a campus party and u find more than 100 hundred pairs dancing with the same rythem, same body movement from head to toe, clapping at the same, etc. It was beautiful. It was mesmerizing. I went to "white" parties a few times. Completely different and opposite. I picked my undergraduate and graduate degrees along with the basics of Soul dance movements and returned home. I have a very beautiful memory of those years. Great thanks to the founders of the Program.
