AI always wins because they accept the peace treaty, not really Tommys fault that he didnt know about the war debuff. -30% attack is kinda insane also when you count the Core defense that Bulgaria has, thats broken.
If you want to go down certain luck based paths without having to worry about what the AI will do, Kaiserriech has options when creating a new game to force AI nations to go down certain focuses so they allow you to form things like a united Scandinavia. This way, you do not have to waste your time waiting for the AI to finally pick the focuses you want.
There's a certain historical irony in Tommy complaining about Sweden not having any manpower, since the country's lack of manpower has always been what's prevented it from competing with the other great powers of Europe. It should also be noted that Kaiserreich is intentionally asymmetrical in terms of country balance. Some nations are never supposed to be able to compete with others in a straight up fight. You cannot cheese it as easily as you can in vanilla. The division limiter that was recently added to the mod helps reinforce this mindset by tying army sizes to industrial capacity.
Here's a hidden path that a lot of people haven't tried that I think is fun! (Anyone can try this) It's nat pop Belgium, an extremely rare path in hoi4 KR 1. Play as Flanders-Wallonia 2. During the revolution, have the revolutionaries succeed, BUT DO NOT let the flemish and wallonian protestors interact or work together. 3. This causes the country to split in two (play as Wallonia) 4. Ask for germany's permission to reannex flanders, and when they say "no" to you, you'll be able to flip nat pop 5. Annex flanders and form the nat pop Belgium (EXTREMELY RARE CHALLENGE ROUTE YOU GET NO ALLIES)
It's not bullshit, it's just to stop you from stomping out Bulgaria instantly, so instead you have a quick early war to get your core's back and contain Bulgaria while still keeping them in the game so they can come back later.
Wish you could just take a territory and be done with it in vanilla. I like to take the claimed land and that alone then leave, I don’t really want to puppet them and shit, feels better IMO

Yea ikr, the devs actually understand the economic situation of Romanians amd Serbs. A just industrialized nation that just lost ww1 has lots of war preps and requires extensive amount of resources to continued fixing and growing the economy so the embargo by the international market would cripped the small nation almost immediately.
And especially if you tries to prolong a war, with the advent of news network, even a 15 days war (yes, i counted the days) like this could lead to wide spread condemption from the international community and a large call for peace like we have seen in so many modern wars. So not accepting the peace deal would likely cripped ones economy.

I mean, the war was still very much winnable when I played as Serbia and pushed to total victory. If you don't completely destroy Bulgaria, it will join the Austrian, French, or German faction and will be a huge pain to deal with when you go after Transylvania.

My biggest gripe about Kaiserreich is the hard railroading some nations have. Switzerland for example is completely at the mercy of the ai for the first half of its game, and can't even choose to go to war with the Communists to retain your territory if you want to.
If they just continued that game and try to hold out and do a sort of endsieg instead of just deleting their divisions for a meme that would've been waaaay more fun
Kaiserreich is a mod all about alt history and story, that is super restrictive in scope so that they can hash out details. If you want to play with more freedom and do what you want against the scripted events, this is not the mod to play.
I mean combined bulgaria got a +50% defense buff, + inf construction speed, free troops and romania/serbia got -40% inf construction speed, -org. You need heavy tanks just to beat basic ass infantry with those debuffs
Tips on the Balkan war as Romania : 1.Take Dobrudja as fast as possible because if you do will get a buff against Bulgaria 2. Make 5 divions of 20 wits with shovels/artillery 3. Profit
I play the vanilla of HOI4 and everytime i wanna play as an minor nation (either historical or unhistorical) and join the Axis, Germany fucks up. They can't beat France, they can't beat Russia, they get invaded from all sides,... Sometimes i wonder if this is programmed, that German AI plays bad if you play Axis.
