@@annie482000 In this instance, I think stepping the horse toward him, which scared him (and embarrassed him because everyone saw him being genuinely frightened) was far more effective. He was probably expecting to be shouted at to get it on camera. It backfired on him. Then the guard continuing to glare at him when he tried to hide behind his mates and smirk and giggle like a 13 year old - perfect!

Have noticed one or two guys who don't touch the reins, but grab the bridle underneath the horses head where the guard cannot see it fully. It is almost in defiance of the polite request on the board to see what they can get away with. This chap in red still stood there with what looked to me like a defiant attitude.

Knowing that now it’s the new trend to annoy the guard by doing stupidities to make people laugh, the armed policemen should stand closed by to keep an eye on those morons and be able to arrest them and give a fine when caught on sight. After all, no matter in what country you are, harassment is a crime. By holding the reins those imbeciles might also hurt the horse. So, on top of harassment, we can also add cruelty to animals.

It’s not a ‘new trend’ by any means! What is new though is the outright challenge since the new signs were put up which is exactly what I said would happen! 🤪 It’s a psychological reaction from some of the men in particular, I believe that until some more stringent actions are taken to prevent this behaviour it’s only going to get worse. However, as far as the police are concerned, if they take their eyes off the crowd to deal with morons they might miss the start of an extremist attack which is why they’re there, in fact, playing the moronic tourist could be used as a distraction for such an event.

@@j.ksmith7432 If they occasionally looked in different directions to each other when standing in twos or threes, it might be good for security. When together, they usually look at each other, when chatting, for quite long periods of time. They can see in only one direction when doing that. If one faced the courtyard and another faced the street, they could still chat. Secondly, why are they usually together, standing in the same place when that God forbid, makes them an easier target ? It’s too predictable. There are a few officers who do none of that - they move around a lot more. When tourists see officers grouped, in one place, they’re more likely to think that anything goes. I agree that it’s not the officers’ job to sort out tourists but there are, some officers however well trained and able they are, who do a heck of a lot of chatting with each other while looking in the same direction.

Someone should be employed there as a tourist guide, like they have in other areas at royal sites. They could learn five words in about ten languages which isn’t much to learn. Stop, back, yes, no and reins. Then occasionally, a police officer could come out from the usual place where they all stand, to show the link between the guide and the police. It would stop most of the daft behaviour that happens frequently now.
