- Creating in mixed media can be a little intimidating when you don't know what you're doing! In this video, I show you my process and how I use each layer to build up a mixed media piece, from a blank page to finished image. You can steal my routine and make it your own. 😊

Thank you for explaining layering so clearly.
So glad it was helpful!
So pretty!
Thank you Dana!
I’m new to some of these techniques. What is the semi transparent paper you used to print the fish and other designs? Did you call it deli paper? I’m intrigued with the plate you talked about whereby you made the designs on paper.
Yes, it's deli paper and I use a gelli plate to make them. 😁 Here is a link to my store, it has both of these items: www.amazon.com/shop/stephaniemartel
And here is a playlist of gelli printing videos that may interest you: th-cam.com/play/PLxJyboPXS1ymTVceL8hPfJjN2yYLasFJP.html&si=O51qfBNnlb0rZ0Ds
Thank you for sharing, I'm just starting out with art journaling and have no clue what I'm doing so just experimenting, this is a very helpful video ❤
Keep experimenting and have fun with it! There's really no wrong way to do it.
Oh I love that green on the pink too... so nice! I have a couple gelli plates but I really haven't fully explored their uses - I really need to do that! Thanks for the inspiration. New subscriber!
So glad you are here! Thanks for watching. 😁
I am loving your videos! I'm curious about how you would frame these pieces?
Good question! I would probably mount the original on a hard board but for prints I would create a border so it would frame nicely. 😁
Could you spray some kind of sealer on the ink jet print before applying it to keep it from running?
It's a good idea but I don't want to mess up my printer head. There is a new fixatif that I am going to try after I print to see if it prevents smudging.
What kind of printer do you run through with the deli paper?
It's just a regular office printer: hp 5255 deskjet.
Do you use a fixative at the end?
When I am ready to frame/sell it, I add a fixation and varnish coat. I scan my work first so I wait until after that to add any top coats. 😁
