    There should be a thing called “Naturalists for Piper.” Such a gifted, earnest, technique-mastering rhetorician. I never forgot his historical sermons. Especially this Augustinian one. It’s a shame broader evangelicalism doesn’t pay much attention to his Augustinian-Edwardian Hedonism. Such a much better motivation for growth than the pure obligationism of most of the other fundamentalist movements in this country…I pray that he may he live long and I pray that god may come into existence just to reward him for his honest and passionate service. I owe Piper having read The End for Which God Created The World and On The Freedom of Will [etc, etc, etc…] and despite having changed my orientation somewhat-a minor tweak: just dropped the super out of my supernaturalism, just 5 painfully distracting letters-I’ll always be grateful to my good old Christian hedonist.

    I used to substitute my depravity for another person's dream and the dream was full of lust and greed. Walking away on my own free will built pride and a hard heart. And I still have a lust driven life, and now pride rules me. It is my fault I know, but these stories give me hope. And other stories about people give me hope. But being honest total depravity doctrine is so true, I can't want Jesus Christ. If someone is reading this please be real and loving and tell me to repent.

      Recognize that what's important is not that you have a perfect understanding of complex doctrines, but that you respond to your personal responsibility. You cannot repent apart from the grace of God, but that's none of your concern. If you have any desire to repent, it's evidence that the Spirit has done a work in you. There's no sin that you've committed that is too severe that God cannot forgive. Willful sinning and an unregenerate Spirit will cause you to spend eternity in hell, but the free gift of God is salvation. Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
      Isaiah 59:1
      Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;
