No matter who he's playing with, I always really appreciate the solid and sophisticated bass of Mr. Russell Hall. He is SUCH a musician!
And his sound a pure gem. Who as this sound ?
He actually saved the first tune
they say tone is in the hands, and he's got great hands
The piano solo in the still of the night is just pure fire. Such a brilliant stream of consciousness that invigorates everyone till it finally erupts. Wow!
I can see Pasquale is having loads of fun with just sitting in with such a interactive and happening bunch
Piano solo on Off Minor was amazing and amazing guitar playing in the outro of darn that dream
This is the best virtual club in the world
Live From Emmet's Place - the best thing to happen to Mondays!
Russell driving the insanity on Cherokee - incredible!
Yeah it's amazing how he can do that with such great tone throughout. Fine tuned technique
That tempo is frightening.
Emmet and Pasquale...great duo!
Love the way Pasquale deliberatly sits out of comping to let Emmet go. Sign of a true pro.
Ma questi per me sono musicisti marziani !!musica stellare.grazie per questo dono
Every time I watch one of these, they're all great players, but Russell Hall blows me away.
A super session !
Pasquale now has two Trenier guitars with his name. He's earned it.
Pretty sure he has 3 now. The black one, the orange one and now this one
@@bronzewand Correct!
Pasquale is the truth. One of the very few real guitarists in the world
@@chrisn8657 Nah, Pasquale is the only guitarist that can truly play bebop.
@@hayaomiyazaki4899 Anyway he is a top guitarist
Cordiali saluti 😊
i know i know pasquale is all bud powell and barry harris - but he reminds me of johnny smith in the ballads as well.
amazing concert
Such a heartwarming chat with Spike!
Amazing performances as always. Many thanks for sharing!
The relational harmony between drummer, bassist and pianist is what the Heavenly Father brings to life❤️🔥🔥👑
1:00:10 the piano solo on "Off Minor"... damn, Emmet!
Keep playing "I'll Keep Loving You" ! Thank you Barry Harris & Bud Powell. You guys do it justice.
So glad you guys had Pasquale on. I enjoyed every minute of it!
Hope you will have Luigi on as well, sooner or later! Absolutely loving this set so far
I love Luigi's playing as well, he is playing baritone sax with the NDR big band in Germany at the moment, (lots on TH-cam), so let's hope he can get time off
to visit New York soon.
Luigi is the man
Night in Tunisia, make my week, maybe the whole year!
Hi Emmet. Thank you from having Pasquale on the show. Having some Italian blood in my system I am now more encouraged to work at my piano. 🤩
I just llooovveee this so much!! Thanks for sharing 🙏.
Thanks!
Wow so refreshing
Great show. Thanks Emmet and everybody.
I love this
like someone in love !
You guys should play with ambrose on one of these streams. That would be epic!!

Emmet opened his doors to two men with the genius & instinct to make the seemingly impossible, a reality.
*Pasquale Grasso is a master of a robust bebop language* -previously distant from the guitar world.
And, against the odds, *Spike Wilner has maintained a precious lifeline* for the music we love & the artists who create it. *Both of these cats have built bridges as musicians & jazz advocates* ...and we’re blessed by their labors.
In his first appearance with the trio, *Pasquale invokes the bop greats* with otherworldly speed & sensitivity. *Kyle Poole & Russell Hall* devastate the rhythm section, & *Emmet Cohen* overwhelms the set with a series of brilliant solos. Guys, you’re making miracles happen each week & inspire our potential to do the same...💡🎼🌎
Thank you!
...and to Spike Wilner - our love & gratitude to you & the jazz faithful for keeping this music alive. 🙏🏽🎼
Such a beautiful opener on Monday: Sonora is priceless & Lullaby of Leaves-brutally cool...
Thanks to our entire jazz fam.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Have you seen the size of Pasquale's shoes? They are huge!
Acoustics are amazing. All players are phenomenal. Thanks
Killing killing show - Spike first number fantastic- total band burning all night
Alex Weitz -you slay on Celia. 🙌🏽...you give us the finest visuals each week & you’re giving Kelvin beautiful sound to work with from that sax. My friend, your talent inspires us all to ‘up our game’ - our respect & appreciation...
Thank you!
awesome
Lullabye of the leaves, WOW
always awesome music
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Pascuale Grasso es muy grosso!!!
Partager aussi facilement son piano montre aussi une grande humilité ;)
1:14:23 nice guitar comping
Thanks for playing and speaking truthfully, wonderful.
Pasquale's puritanian bebop is like oil and the core trio's free spirited style is like water. I wondered how it would work out before I even knew this was happening (knowing it was inevitable), but somehow, like top level professional chefs, yall came out with a stable emulsion
Just my intuitions, don't take it too seriously if it sounds wrong. What do i know. Thank you for uploading this amazing content
@@guidemeChrist oh hai, fancy seeing you here :-)
@@JazzGuitarScrapbook lol same. It's the place to be
Pasquale is the roots here, keeping everyone grounded to the direct lineage of true jazz
Wonderful!🎼🥁
Pasquale ha un suono incredibile
Crazy good stuff!
Both guests -- extraordinaire!! As a guitarist I'm especially appreciative of Mr. Grasso's wonderful unusual approach to the instrument, to the harmonies. The guitar was a touch flat which was a touch disconcerting for ears like mine, but the music was just so fine! I must say, this trio, piano, bass, drums consistently makes exceptionally joyful music with it's own really unique spin on the jazz tradition. I am a lucky man.
Yeah!
So good!
And a comment to Spike Wilner. I am also trying to play Jazz Guitar, you are an inspiration too. 🙂
YEAH , guys ! Fantastic !!!
Hi Emmet, Only had time to take in your first guest, Spike Wilner - what an amazing pianist. Thanks for getting him on the show. As always, your rhythm section is oh so tight. Will catch the rest of the show later.
I wish I was their neighbor!
Muito bom!!!
excellent phrasing..note choices
Ils sont épatants. Il faut écouter la musiques qu'ils font !
Hall's solo on Darn that Dream was absolutely beautiful in its briefness
this is almost irresponsible it's so good. i lost my mind so many times during this show I might sue for damages
Pasquale is so so so so sick. And someone call his brother Luigi!
Damn Luigi with Emmet would be a dream!
Spike is a King!
liked that Billy’s Bounce quote in Like Someone..
The owner of Smalls himself showing how it's done!
Pasquale... hooly shoes

HA THAT HARRY POTTER QUOTE ON TUNISIA WAS FUNNY
tom harrell when
1:45:52 That charlie parker lick!!
What Gibson amp is Pasquale using?
thundercat sounds mad on drums
ok i see what y9oure doing and its 9ok but do betyter
Great music. I do however not like the very muffled sound of the guitar. The treble is tuned out so much that it makes a very dull and lifeless sound.
I think he listened to a lot of Johnny Smith.
And a dose of Jim Hall.
They're all superb musicians but come on, have we learned nothing about harmony in the past 70 years? I can't even call this straight ahead, just old fashioned. If you like jazz performed in a historic context only then this is fine.
