I love, love, love my pressure cooker! How awesome that you used it for this video. Oh my gosh and how crazy that you added sugar! I have got to try it!
Omg you had me cracking up with the pine sol reference!!! Lol definitely can relate to that. Another combo was the sound of salsa and the vacuum cleaner on Saturday mornings. Subscribed 👍
Made these tonight finally and they were amazing! I really liked everything blended first before adding the beans. I don't like chunks in mine either, so this is a great way to do it. First time I made black beans from scratch and hubby absolutely loved them! Thanks for yet another keeper! =]
These beans are certified. No association to Julie, but my mother has similar recipe, down to picking the rocks from beans 🙏 Julie thanks for sharing these recipes you are definitely representing to the fullest. 🤘
Que deliciouso frijoles negros so good thank you for the recipe and tomatoes sauce !! .im will make this for my family with some chicken and rice and frijoles and plantains
Awesome! Just give me a bowl of rice and I'm good to go. How do you keep your beans from breaking so well Julie? That's some skills right there. Black beans are really fragile.
Jen Peterson JK. lol Sorry I forgot I said that. I didn't realize what you were saying before, or that you were using an abbreviation. I was just using that meme joke. I didn't think you were actually drunk.
I think my mom had that same exact pressure cooker since I was a teenager! LoL. Black beans are so good--you ever make refried beans? I love those even more.
Hey Julie did you add the whole batch of sofrito to the pot or just a few spoonfuls ? I loved this recipe last time i made it but can’t remember what I did. Thanks 😊
My wife is Cuban I stayed with my in laws before and the house smells like fabuloso and and Sazon it's not only on Sunday morning it's everyday 😅 viva Hialeah!
Juli, I just bought a pressure cooker, tell me please, if I don't want to pre-soak the beans overnight, so que tiempo and what do I do, to make my beans. Gracias
Hey girl! I've never tried back beans before, so I guess I should hey! I want to make my own sofritto, (spelling) but I did make my own sazon the other day as well as a batch of adobo seasoning cause it's hard to find here.
Looks good Julie !! I just made a bean salad today it looks like we think alike :p & speaking of beans you should make a chilli recipe I love me some chilli
I've never tried any black beans that I actually liked. They always seem so flavorless... almost bitter in some cases. THIS however... I think this may be the black bean recipe I've always been missing in my life. Never thought i'd salivate over black beans. It must be you Julie. I don't think you're capable of making anything that doesn't look delicious.
Black beans and Pine-Sol....hahaha... are we related? Thanks for the recipe; now I know what to do with my black beans 'canned' I know :( Will need to try the sugar.
Cookedbyjulie Finally tried the black beans with the sugar and they were great! I did put a little too much sofrito and instead of the $2 white wine I had to use a 2009 Rivebank Riesling which was actually pretty good. I accompany it with white rice and a broiled beef flank which I marinated for 45min in a 2009 Calina Reserva Carmenere with diced garlic. This experienced has taught me to move from the $2 cooking wines. Thanks for the recipe for both the beans and the sofrito. I still need to try the tomato sauce (didn't have any and was too lazy to make it.)
I'm so glad you liked it! Black beans and flank steak go so good together! I love using flank for ropa vieja. I have to try marinating flank in wine. That sounds delicious :)
Julie,yοu could also have soaked your beans from the previous day (or even more),that would fasten the process (and save some more energy) and would make beans much easier to digest (and less gas issues). Also soaking the beans improves the healthy nutritions they cointain.Check the 2nd paragraph www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=2
Gracias Juan Martinez! I was going to mention that above but thought the better of it. Several Cuban "mamitas" (friends' mothers) taught me how to make frijoles, arroz con pollo and ropa vieja and NOT ONE OF THEM ever used cilantro in anything! Now I see it on tv cooking shows and I'm thinking, what? When did this start, when leaving the island and moving to the States and got influenced by Mexican cuisine? but I'm with you, no tomatoes in the beans and def. no cilantro (thank goodness, it tastes soapy).
"smell of black beans and pinesol" that brought back memories. My grandma was an amazing cook and housekeeper. Thank you for the recipe
Great advice on the pressure cooker Julie!
But my GAWD do I love black beans. I've never made them like this, but I will be now. YUMMY!
I love, love, love my pressure cooker! How awesome that you used it for this video. Oh my gosh and how crazy that you added sugar! I have got to try it!

Made these tonight finally and they were amazing! I really liked everything blended first before adding the beans. I don't like chunks in mine either, so this is a great way to do it. First time I made black beans from scratch and hubby absolutely loved them! Thanks for yet another keeper! =]

Awesome! Just give me a bowl of rice and I'm good to go. How do you keep your beans from breaking so well Julie? That's some skills right there. Black beans are really fragile.
Not overcooking them I'm assuming. That's a great question, I never thought of black beans being fragile until now that you mention it.
***** Go home Jen. Your drunk. lol

My wife is Cuban I stayed with my in laws before and the house smells like fabuloso and and Sazon it's not only on Sunday morning it's everyday 😅 viva Hialeah!

Very nice voiceover
A few Cubans I know do use sugar that's to turn down the acidity on the tomato/sauce or paste.
Hey girl! I've never tried back beans before, so I guess I should hey! I want to make my own sofritto, (spelling) but I did make my own sazon the other day as well as a batch of adobo seasoning cause it's hard to find here.

In some chinese restaurants
Rebecca Chen Oh I think I know what you're talking about, I think they use the red beans though.
Cookedbyjulie
They're called azuki beans. You mix them with lots of sugar and they are used as a filling in the deserts.
Ruben, they are hiring at Walmart buddy, this lady is teaching us how to cook, and she is dam good, así que cayate brother!

What about black beans mixed on rice.... don't know the proper name for it
congri, that's delicious!
Please add it to your list, also red beans and rice
You used parsley and not cilantro
Sorry Cuban black beans do not call for Cilantro or tomatoes. This is not an Authentic Cuban black bean recipe.
There's also more than one way to make authentic Cuban black beans :)
Gracias Juan Martinez! I was going to mention that above but thought the better of it.
