I really appreciate the work you put in your videos, especially in relation to your relatively low subscriber count. Keep up the passion and good work and you'll surely grow! :) Are you planning on doing videos approaching dsbm-ish style aswell?
Thanks! Yeah I hope to see some growth eventually.. It has started coming a bit faster, but still not going anywhere fast. Regarding DSBM, I honestly don't listen a lot to music like that, so it would be hard for me to do currently. Do you have some suggestions for bands I could check out? Then down the line I could probably try and do some lessons on those styles.
@@rasmuslaurberghansen8484 Mhm, as DSBM is pretty diverse I would probably start with something that many people would consider "gold standard dsbm", which is Thy Light. If you got the time listen to the Album Suici.De.pression, I honestly doubt you would not like it. Then there's None - A Damp Chill of Life. In case you like that sound, their whole discography is pretty neat. Apati - Morgondagen, more on the depressive Rock side, still some dsbm vibes. If you don't mind listening to artists that have some nsbm Background, Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions is something I always recommend aswell, you'd have to be okay with abysmal production tho. And to just drop some "bigger" names: Lifelover, Xasthur, Austere, Wedard, Forgotten Tomb, Ofdrykkja, Totalselfhatred.
Absolutely love the tone! I'm just finding out about "low gain in metal" and I just can't reproduce a sound that's close to what you have there. Any compressors or distortion pedals in use? Any hints and tips to get that sound otherwise? Highs, mids boosted/scooped for instance.
Thanks, all I am playing here is the guitar straight into the EVH amp on the blue channel. I generally try to go for a balanced sound, without too much of anything. I will say that dialing up the mids can really help with this kind of tone. so give that a try, and consider roling the bass off a little .. what amp and guitar do you have to work with?
@@rasmuslaurberghansen8484 thanks man! I'm using a THR10ii for bedroom practice. It has lots of amp modelling so I'm guessing it's a case of trial and error but I'll try boosting my mids and dropping the bass off a little for sure.
Yeah do that - also try and mess around with which amp model you use, go for a marshall or other mid heavy amps, that don't necessarily have a ton of gain.
I am using a 5150 amp sim (the Nembrini 8180 to be exact). Can you detail the positions of all your knobs on the amp for this particular tone? I would like to try to get closer to this tone so that would help and then my main variable would be going through my IRs until I find the right one.
Great lesson!
