Bought my Spark Mini a few weeks back. It’s a little monster! The inbuilt core sounds are really good but if you’re into playing about in the app on a smart phone/tablet the possibilities become endless. I’ve tweaked the Lead Vox sound a little and changed the custom to an SLO100 sound. After that I’ve not felt a need to change things. I do use the app to stream backing tracks too and the speaker more generally as a Bluetooth speaker around the house and outdoors. My daughter and I sat outside on vacation playing each other our favourite Taylor Swift tracks.
Well, done, Lenny! To the point! Everybody can do modelling now, but physical speaker design is not programming - and this is what sets Spark Mini apart!
Fab review from Wings to Led Zeppelin, thank you. I like Spark too - have the original because they are so well built & produce a surprisingly good sound.
The katana mini is a bedroom amp. That's it. Speaker not functional for much else. Today I saw they introduced a new mini amp so will check it out. The spark without the app is good but you have to get the EQ pedal to take out some bass. I have tried mine str8 to the mixer & out the pa. I guess if you spend a lot of time dialing in your sounds it could work. Minimizing!!
Awesome video! Needing to buy a small, portable amp (and cheap used guitar) for when I fly in to visit my family from out of state, I have a larger Spark at home so think I'm going to go with the Spark Mini
When doing a comparison , I think it best to just play the differences without any Talking or Comments or interference in between comparing the sounds … until after the sonic comparisons Comments & talking can be done after the sonic comparisons ?
I use my Spark Mini mostly on a clean setting. After I pick a string, there's a short lingering hissing sound. This will happen even if I mute the strings and strum. I was wondering does anyone else get this on their Spark Mini? If so, is there a way to stop it?
I kept the settings as compatible with each other as possible so it was apples to apples. The app is a whole 'nother issue and benefit; especially the EQ pedal to dial out some bass.
Steady on, I'm nearly 66 and like Lenny, I'll keep on rocking. As long we are having fun, we are not old. Great playing Lenny and thanks for the comparison. A Spark Mini will be on my birthday list.
Good review. But this is not even a comparison of any kind without being connected to the millions of potential uses with the App turned on. Without the App, it's like leaving it inside the shipping box and just talking about it.
You are thinking of the Katana 100, which is actually a good bedroom amp as it can be switched to 0.5 watts and has lots of scope for volume and tone adjustment.
Yeah bro, you really need to use the app with the Spark Mini, enough said... P.s. you playing is awesome, but yeah, you really do need to delve into the app

Great review, but now I want some fried chicken with 11 herbs and spices!!🤣
ROFL
The Spark is awesome. And you haven’t even touched on what’s available in the app
Fantastic comparison... thank you. And Spark Mini knockout katana.
Great review and great playing Lenny!
I loved the last forgotten riff too! :-)
Thank You 😊

You earned a 👍 for the ending alone.
Thanks !! 😀
Nice playing sir! Great review too. I may get a Spark also.
Thanks man !! Len ** check out my new demo of the Boss Dual Cube LX
Great Playing. Thanks for posting the comparison. Spark sounds good, for sure, and has a lot more options within the app.
Spark just released a Spark Go model that is +/-$110. It appears to have one speaker instead of the Mini's two.
Spark is more convenient for creating various sounds, but I prefer Katana for the basic sound of guitar.
The app makes the mini the best ever.
Great!!
Thank You - Len
Both sounded good to me.
BUT.. does the Katana Mini have an App similar to the Bias Spark App ?? The good thing about the spark mini is not the speaker, I guess is the app

Nice, honest review!
FWIW, you control EQ et al via the app on a phone or tablet on the Spark. THERE you have much more control, than on top of the Katana Mini
Of course you can completely control the EQ and all the amps, cabs and fx when you pair the Spark to your phone.
Thanks 🙏🏽 for the comparison 🙏🏽
Your like the uncle I always wanted!
That might be the best compliment I've ever received - unless your 'uncle' is nuts ! :)
Hi Great review! Really helpful for me. One question. On clean which one is the loudest and do they start to break up on max volume?
I got the mini it is just way better for the money...i had a crate 50d....awesome playing sir!
Thank You - Len
They are both called mini.
Do more reviews please
Ending is awesome

Well okay... Rabea, Thorn, and Chapman I don’t trust... you? I trust! Keep it rockin \m/
Thanks man !!
I think Spark Mini sounds better and beefier. Specially in cleans.

I almost forgot ,my ass. This whole vid was about that riff , yo
Oh I almost forgot, classic 🤣🤣
Still liking this one over the Katana? I know the Spark is really meant to be used with the app and I didn't see you use it here.
I kept the settings as compatible with each other as possible so it was apples to apples. The app is a whole 'nother issue and benefit; especially the EQ pedal to dial out some bass.
What's better? I mean your choice.. Help me
Spark is way better
@@lennyslickstunes Thanks..
To the point. I like it.
I heard this guy has had sound checks with the Stones lol;
don't know what that means but OK
@@lennyslickstunes It means your old Lenny, but your not alone… Im 66….
And if these youngsters are lucky, they’ll end up old farts too, 😂🤣

Next time playing that Boss mini amp be sure to use a beekeeping mask 🤣🤣🤣
What did you have the volumes set at?
it varied. I think I mentioned the volumes at diff points in the video.
Did you say the boss katana mini is 100 watts? lol
no

Oh I have. TONS of settings. And recently discovered the EQ pedal to take out some bass.

it's not 200$ in my country
Spark all day long.
Young kids nowadays so spoilt.
That katana sounds like crap compared to the spark mini.
