    Looks great Ridge! For those who aren't familiar with Peel Ply in composite lay-ups, probably worth mentioning that a huge reason to use it is to mitigate Amine Blush. Using Peel Ply anywhere epoxy dries not only leaves you with a 'ready to go' textured surface for the best mechanical bond it saves many, many hours of labor from having to scrub off amine blush and sanding.

    Nice. The lines look very fair. It will be interesting to see how much fairing work you need to do. Keep posting, it's very interesting to watch, and encouraging for us wanna be's. I can see why single builders take so long. Having a few helping hands multiplies out the efficiency of any work done

      Back at it, hopefully more videos to come. I gave up trying to make nice ones...now it's just gonna be rough cell phone and quick editing, but hopefully better than nothing.

    amazing videos! I'm learning a lot! how thick is this foam for the hulls?

    • @ojigwanyachts9361
      @ojigwanyachts9361  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the panel, different places call for different thickness.

    Wonderful job guys!!! I've been doing more research on what kit I wish to build, when it comes to size of build do you think it would take any more people than your crew size to build a 1500 vs your 1280? do you find your shop to be big enough for your project so far? and what would you do different if you had the opportunity?

    • @ojigwanyachts9361

      I think another body or two would be perfect for a 15M build, though most of it could still be done with 3-4. I believe you are still limited to 40' panels as they still have to ship in a container. Once joined they will be longer and heavier, though even our largest panels are manageable by 4. It would mostly depend on the skill and experience of the team. With skilled hands you can start on a few projects at the same time like rudder, dagger-boards and the coach roof while setting up strongbacks. I suspect though that planning for a larger team comes with it's own challenges as you have natural breaks to let the epoxy cure and will need to find other jobs, easier for a small team, harder for a larger team.
      Schionning have a few different kit options for core and carbon/e-glass and even s-glass. Please let me know if we can help. Our shop is great for our project and would work for a 13.6M as well. It would be a bit tight for a 15M, but we could make it work. As with any shop bigger is better to allow for cutting and laminating tables as well as storage for tools and materials. Having a rolling gantry or lifting capability would be great, and something we are looking into. If we had it to do over I think we would have built a bigger shop, but budget is always a factor.

      @@ojigwanyachts9361 It's ben over three years. I was enjoying the building of the boat 🚢. So I will put this channel on the back burner for one more month. And if nothing shows up I will have to make room for a New sailing channel.

    You talk about time saved with peel ply, with sound really good. Do you have any idea of, how much time you have spend, so far in the project? Would it be faster if you did both hulls, at the same time? (Thinking of the saving of the process being similar, cutting two of everything and so on)

    • @ojigwanyachts9361
      @ojigwanyachts9361  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it would save time. We plan to re use our strong-back for the port hull so that saves a lot of time and money on that build and the materials. With a team of 4-5 everyone can stay busy with one hull. With a bigger shed and team it might makes sense, but for us we don't have the people or the space to do both at the same time. I do think the next hull will move much faster as we have learned a lot that will help us. Getting the right router bit and process for extending the hull panels took some figuring out and trial and error. Now we can just zip through them.
      I think we have around a month total into the boat, but some days it's just two of us and others we have 4-5 people so it's difficult to estimate. We are working on collecting hours so we have that to track for future projects.

      The build will resume early Jan 2022. We had the opportunity to complete 3 high performance 30 cats. The third will be done very soon and then back to the Arrow.
