    we crossed earlier this month and no issues! obtained the Laos visa from Da Nang Laos embassy prior to the run. no questions about the bike and very straight forward. the checkpoints now are quite obvious because they're fully developed. we also re-entered 2 days later and no issues! vietnam side was a bit harder to get into (there was a waiting line at the checkpoint) and we also had to put all of our luggage through x ray scanners (this didn't happen on the way out but only on the way back in). this guide has been so helpful so thank you so much!

    I crossed this boarder today. Still working! Nobody asked for motorbike-paperwork. You get the passportstamp aprox. 2 km after the boarder. Just stopp there and get it for free. Thsnks again!

    • @fabioizzo
      @fabioizzo หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-nz8cg5kg3p You need to get the laos-visa ahead, no visa on arrival possible there! I got mine in hanoi for 1050000 dong. Got it in 4h, you need a passport-photo.
      I crossee with a vietnamese-plated-bike, no questions asked at all. They did not even asked for the bluecard. As far as i know you can easily enter vietnam again at any borderpoint with a vietnamese-plated-bike. There is a lady at the boarder-crossingpoint changing your dongs to laos-kip and selling simcards for 4$. Do that, you not gonna find a simcard for a few hours driving. Got 15gb and 15 min for 30days for 100k-kip.

      So how did you get back to Vietnam with the bike?.. Because thete is no "import form" that we got at La Lay.
      I am considering Tay Trang but have heard horror stories, it officially isn't even open for foreigners. Which leaves Na Meo and Nam Can..

    • @straywithgray24

      I sold the bike in Luang Prabang, so I’m sorry I can’t help with getting it back into Vietnam. I would try the La Lay border and hope they’re as easy going as they were before.

    I'm surprised that the border crossing at Na Meo has gone to dark side. I crossed it twice earlier last year with no problems. Last December, I crossed the border at Bo Y-Ngoc Hi, which is the southernmost crossing point. Just remember to get a paper visa. I used the consulate in Da Nang early in the morning and made the border crossing that night. If you are going on to Cambodia, fill out the motorcycle import form before you get to the checkpoint to save on issues and bribes. It's online.

    • @dionandkimx
      @dionandkimx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was it easy to fill out the motorcyle import documentation? We applied using the website but then there was just a lot of errors and it wouldn't let us proceed..

    Yooo wanted to add a comment and say, this is still accurate as of yesterday 14th May 2024, as we did it!!!! Exactly as the video described. Thanks so much for sharing where to cross, I will pay it forward and reply to the various forums where people are trying to work it out. I know multiple people who have been denied at the Na Mao crossing recently.
    The building for passport stamp is indeed 3km further on. They didn’t ask for any docs other than passport which had my stamps inside. All staff v friendly!

      Hellooo! Thank you for the update. I 'm about to start a trip to Laos by riding the motorbike too. I wonder if crossing back to Vietnam from Laos is possible too. Did you cross also borders back to Vietnam by motorbike? Thank you

    • @straywithgray24
      @straywithgray24  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I did not cross back into Vietnam, I sold the bike in Laos. However, I think as long as you have the proper documentation you should be able to cross back into Vietnam at any border. The big struggle is getting into Laos not into Vietnam. Hope this helps and happy travels!

    • @straywithgray24
      @straywithgray24  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching. I know that it use to be possible, and there are some companies like Tigit Motorbikes in Hanoi and HCMC that use to allow for cross country rentals. As long as you have the proper documentation (blue card) I don't see why it would be an issue.

      I don’t think so, as long as you have the proper exit stamps and customs forms. You should be good to go. I would definitely check with the rental company though just in case there’s an issue. Good luck out there, enjoy it!

    Can confirm !
    Been through this border the 25/03/24 with my VN motorbike without any issue
    For the stamp, there is another building/checkpoint 3km further that the one you show on the video.
    The immigration will stamp the passeport
    Next to the immigration there is the customs department : they are the people who can say if you can go through or not with your motorbike.
    They didn’t seemed interested in the motorbike.
    These guys denied me the entry of Laos from Cambodia 2 days earlier…
    Nice video !

      I actually ended up selling the bike in Luang Prabang, Laos. So I don’t have to worry about getting it back in. I would honestly try the La Lay border again though, there were so lax with the whole process that it would probably be your best bet.

      Yeah absolutely, so I actually got Laos Visa in Hanoi bcs I was originally trying to cross the border near there, but had to go to La Lay after I was refused in the north. It was same day service in Hanoi though. Dropped off my passport, paid the $40 and later that day picked up my passport with the visa. I would assume it’s similar in Danang.

      Park outside of the Consulate. The guard will check your passport and let you in. Then you walk across the courtyard to a small air conditioned office. Walk to the counter, tell them what you want.

      Please remember that in Vietnam, offices close from 11:30 to 1:30. The Lao consulate is also closed for lunch. Plan ahead. The officials here are extremely easy to work with and very quick.
