@@lamBETTERthanY0Ustfu bro 😂😂😂 wtf r u yapping about. Everyone has different abilities and everyone can have different Enders.. shit was fucking insane. Let’s see u hit this
It should be noted that there are 10 years between Chad Fernandez lipslide and the other three tricks. The lipslide is from Globe - Opinion which came out in 2001, and the others are from his Skatestache Part which came out in 2011 when he was 35 years(!) old.
This was one of the best episodes so far! The Sean Malto interview was awesome. Dalton pulled off a insane melon down the 18 & it was cool hearing Kanaan explain his set up & methods on how he grinds down the wall rails!
Yea we love this series it’s sure to go far for a long time cuz if you think about it there’s 100s of classic skate spot around the world that have been in multiple video parts
25:13 ben kadow skated the rail in his Hockey II part. He grinded up the rail and grinded back down. In a local video called 'Cruel Kindness' a couple other guys skated up the rail and in to the back.
this is the best series on youtube atm, hands down. love the addition of the measurements and its awesome to hear intricate details about the spot like decenxo fronside flip pre bondo is nuts. you guys are fucking insane, this channel is about to blow
This series is pretty profound. It is not only the history of skateboarding, but also the history of architecture and urban design (in California at least) and the history of the relationship between skateboarding and architecture. In the video about a big ledge (Oceanside?), some people give the filmers an odd look and they say something like "I bet those people are thinking 'What are those guys doing?'" It illustrates well how from one perspective, these stairs, rails, ledges, etc. are pretty unremarkable features of a space that the designers probably didn't give much thought to other than that they were needed to get people from one level to another, but in their interaction with skateboarding they become something incredible, magical, challenging, etc. Great work. I hope that the series continues.
This series has everything, the history of tricks done on a spot, interviews with the skaters who actually did the tricks, and also a gnarly trick done on the spot on the gnarly set. So fire
If you calculate the hypotenuse of that stair gap, that's about a 19.5' jump! I know mountain bikers sometimes measure gaps that way by accommodating both length and height of a feature. Stoked that Dalton sent it! He made it look way too easy.
@Dern Brothers - Ben K does a 50-50 up and back down in Hockey II on the James Martin up rail, just like Kanaan's @29:44. Great video as always and keep up the excellent work!!
Love the spot histories! I haven't skated in over 20 years but these videos give me inspiration for my own life. The creativity and confidence is incredible.
Dude you guys are so dope & so insane! This is absolutely crazy haha good shit 🛹 Garrett was so right, no one is casually skating an 18 stair on TH-cam lol
I'm a skateboarding fan from Brazil and been loving this series about spots history, but today I got to watch some Kanaan skate parts and it blew my fkn mind, he's an absolute beast, that Zero roughcut on Thrasher is absurd, max respect! Cheers from Brazil
the Malto overcrook is sooooo stylish, my fav trick on a rail especially the angles they have in the video part, you literally couldn't do a riskier trick than back overcrook
I love everything you do. I really like the exact measurements touch. You should keep like a spreadsheet of all the spots and do stuff at the end like "And this spot comes in 8th for vertical drop and 8th for horizontal gap" and show the other spots just ahead and behind so we can get an idea of how it compares to the other spots. Especially the Davis Gap, now I'm dying to know the measurements of that one so we can compare it to this one. Great video!
That was soooo sick seeing your boy bomb down that huge set!!! And with hella style! I love all your videos but the last couple that I’ve seen where one of your bros did that one push to Ollie on to that tall double kinked rail to 50-50 then to smith was so sick and then of course this video and I love seeing your clips🤘 you and your brother fuckn rip!!
You know what would be really cool for your gap measurements? You could superimpose the triangles of each gap on top of each other once you get enough data. Use something famous like the original Carlsbad as your gold standard and overlap it with other gaps and stair sets like this. A simple graphic would make it easy to appreciate how gnarly some of these gaps are.
Noice! Kannan is so gnarly lol. Wall rail grind was sick! Also the measuring is dope, it puts a real world measurement instead of random amount of stairs, witch can vary in hight and length. 👊👍🤙😁
Loving this series, crazy how big the set and rail are, and how much has gone down on both! Maybe something to consider for the future: when showing the tricks, possibly listing what video/part they were used in for those who want to check it out further can watch after. Otherwise, I look forward to more from this series!
Best series ever. I say if you run out in CA (would take forever) just keep it going U.S. with the other famous spots in Arizona and even east coast stuff. Cyclops rail ATL, courthouse and Blubba in NYC etc... I know that takes some traveling but it'd be sic
Ben Kadow did the grind back down to fakie on that other rail in Hockey II. Also props to Kanaan for skating the wall rail I would have thought it wouldn't have been possible lol
Guys, congrats for your Utube channel, and congrats for beeing down this 18 stairs uge gap!! always a pleasure to learn more about history of skateboarding (especially in L.A.) through your channel
Yeah but I don’t like that he mis represented the 18 Reynolds frontside flipped that and landed it years before Ryan got his 18 stair f/s flip and then he said that’s the most stairs after Reynolds 17… but that’s an 18! And even saying the most stairs tre flipped is debatable after Hoskins three second rule el Toros tre flip
Thank you guys for another great episode!! I would have thought you'd want to measure the middle area of the rail especially,. like where you actually get on at.. but a great idea none the less, thanks again!
I love these videos I look forward to them every week! And yes thank u for the measurements, and the ending was the cherry on top. Going up that rail was adorable 🍻
I love my Dern Brothers. ❤❤❤ Cam jumped down that thing 18 times the day he back 3’d it. I was there, it was seriously fucking bonkers. Big love for these videos. I love them!!! Very genius.❤
The absolute legend Ryan “Ashphalt” Decenzo
NEVER TRUST A CANADIAN
😂❤
thats how we say it up in Canada lol. Gotta be better than ass-fault tho right??
Ashphalt Yacht Club
Decenzo is low key a skate cyborg
That Melon by Dalton was insane, so clean like that could've been an ender in any video part. I think that trick alone deserves 100k subs.
A melon down 18 stairs is gnarly but not close to an ender
i like that it had a little tweak to it.., almost like a Method air
Fucking awesome

His part in OSIRIS The Storm WAS PRETTY SAVAGE!
He was also in the movie Grind! Legend!
Impressive skate memory. 100% I remember the lipslide and the other tricks were definitely way later on.
Chad Fernandez is the king of this spot. that nose grind is insane if you think about.... very underrated imo
Savage
I swear every spot had a gnarly Decenzo trick ! He deserve the skater of the decade award
True, but then Nyjah.
@@thehandleiwantedwasntavailable Yeah, every one of these spot histories they casually mention Nyah with the gnarliest trick.

Yeah that confetti story was pretty sweet!
Dern Bros I Hope Ya'll Keep This Series Going Long As Possible 🙏
I love this shit!
I agree bro. I look forward to this series every week. It’s cool to see a spot from so many different angles
Literally my favorite series on TH-cam and I don’t skate anymore lol
For real !!! These videos are amazing and 💯 % for the viewers enjoyment

Malto and Decenzo this show is some premium stuff!
Garretts gnarely bro, man down played 50-50ing that rail. its no joke
You’re correct. It’s scary either way 5050 or not. Hell 95% of us would break our shit BAD even attempting anything
No one has EVER STRAIGHT OLLIED MELON . well enough AIR TIME for kickfip melon 😂DJ.A.B.C MACCLESFIELD CHESHIRE UK 🇬🇧
that set is a monster.... huge props Dalton, for having the guts to throw down. and extra points for style.... love these videos...

Killin it with this series. Spots, guests, the measurements is a good addition too.
The inside stories on all these spots/tricks are so enlightening.
Really great to have this.
There have got to be thousands of spots
This series is gold. I'd love to see this continue across the globe.

That melon down the set was awesome. I literally punched the air when he got it.
Likewise! The footage that set it up gave us (the viewer) a small sense of being there for it. Such an awesome crew.
With keys in his pocket lmao the man's a beast 🔑
,, Good Small 18 stairs´´ :D Great Video guys !!!

That’s what I was thinking to
Sage elsesser also did fifty up, front 180 into the bank but I can’t remember the video

yeah the way his arms are so still and steezed out is just crazy, so sick...
What a dangerous trick to attempt and even on his bails he kept from beating himself up too bad. Freaky trick
Killer video! Thanks! Really appreciated the way it was put together. Multi angle on the zoom segments was a sick touch
I seriously love these series so much! Thank you so much for your work on these!

Damn Sean Malto is ageless. Dude looks like he's in his early 20s still. Good for him!
Dude this is SO DOPE. Sean Malto was my favorite skater from like 11-13. He was a major influence to my style, & tricks.
Too many thoughts to comment on. OMG. Dalton!
BEST SPOT HISTORY VIDEO YET!

So stoked you found Alonzo’s wall rail back 50, such a genuine dude and so gnarly. He was like 16 or 17 when he did that too. Rest in piece my brother

Thanks for the exact measurements :P got me thinking it’d be cool to 3d model some of these spots accurately
Congratulations DERN bros...found a spot in the algorithm. #SpotHistory ....I too hope to one day find that thing nobody is doing yet and capitalize.
