I came across two abandoned bunkers right next to each other. Like a moth to a flame I couldn't resist. Much panic and screaming followed. I got to open two nice loot containers and found a plasma rifle, which is only good as a club as I've no ammo. Probably wasn't worth it considering the cost.
Know the feeling, Have been doing some exploring, found a couple of potential loot sites, e.g. submerged tanks, all guarded by multiple drones. Plenty more to explore, but would feel happier with some 15 mm ammunition,
Can you not refine logs straight into plant fibre? That may be easier & quicker than spending an age hunting for those elusive plants, given the forest surrounding your starter base..
Logs can be converted into plant fibre. Have been using them to make the biofuel,, the downside they are heavy and need to converted in plant fibre. Collecting the fibre plants is more for making bandages when out and about.
@@StephenSilverbeard What I'm saying is rather than use the logs almost exclusively for biofuel (which doesn't seem quite so urgent anyway, given the high occurrence of promethium boulders in forests), why not use a dozen or so for fibre every so often, allowing you to carry (say) 100 fibre around with you for quick & easy conversion to ammo, bandages etc? ISTM that if you're insisting on the plant route, doing a quick side-mission into the Talon quest may be in order, as their first few missions plus a peaceful relationship would gain you access to a lot of plants pretty early, which you could grow in static plots while doing major builds..
Have made some plant fibre from logs, Have to admit it has been a long time since I have had to search for plant protein. Finding Uai an interesting start, it is triggering a rethink of the normal starting routines. Like the idea of doing the Talon mission, it would be useful to get a high standing as there are some key resources in their territory.
Hmm against most "bug" enemies I go pistol and shotgun. for it faster to switch to pistol if the shotgun is reloading. For Ziriox you better have a rifle and sniper. (with a pistol or laser pistol as backup Zirox always drop laser pistol ammo)
Find the shotgun useful against scorpions and spiders due to their small hit boxes. Find range of the sniper useful when clearing out POIs although it needs to be backed up with a close range weapon.
sweet sv there the very last mission for engineer is 5k salvaging alien blocks when ya get ready for that one go scout out a decent large alien world they have the most abandoned pois on them.. do several vids of clearing the pois then off camera multitool those blocks... also look on the workshop for a base called something like factory wafer or resource dump so you can put all the xeno stuff in it... if ya dont it just takes up room or ya trash it.. that way ya got it all after the basic ores ya gotta find the next which is titanium neo and cobalt one pass on a moon works after that its like 5 zass then 5 erest then close to 20 or 30 sathium ya gotta find not too bad i got mine done and reloading my multi tool is insane less than a sec with my rifles the reload is decent as well.. i had three of those horrors sneak up on me in a poi with 5 rounds and before they could load me up with all sorts of badness i mowed them down haha id almost say once you get a sv with warp to drop on the dead planet with that salvage core and gut the unfinished rocket for a cv getting all that in whole blocks with that core helps a ton... also i did a scout in my build resave on a dead world ... a ton of the pois have a hidden level under them.. lol i never knew that was watching your dead start and saw something and got me thinking.. yep not all of them but some have cpu extenders, deconstructors, mega generators... and bits and bobs hopfully on Uai on your save will be a bunker, mine, or yard.. on omicron ya usually get outposts and vessel yards
Ty for the information. Have been considering whether to go for a CV or upgrade the SV with a warp drive. Based on your comments it would make sense to upgrade the SV, may be do a rebuild. Like the idea of going to the Dead planet to build the CV,
