Looks like a scene out of Dad's Army. I used to listen to George when I was a youngster back in the 50's from my pop's old 78rpm collection, played on a hand-wound, clock spring powered HMV grammophone. You had to change the little tin-plated needle for every record/2 sides. I well remember "I like to hike, that's what I like; aye for it's the grandest kind of life' sung by George.
They are so proud to be marching with George; warms the cockles of my heart.
These wonderful.videos are getting me through Covid. Nasty disease. So tiring and depressing.
That is a George Formby song I really like. A great mix of uke and whistling. I was turned down from the army, too, but I can play a uke.

Loved this from the first time I heard it over 40 years ago. Some fantastic chords.
Brilliant thanks ,makes you happy listening to old songs
this is so great. Many Canadian regiments there in those days including the North Shore Regiment from Northern New Brunswick.
Thanks for this. It was on youtube but the channel and video got deleted or something. Thanks for this!
You're welcome.
I believe George did say he was in the Home Guard as he was turned down for flat feet for the army.
He did indeed serve in the Home Guard as a dispatch rider. He also served with ENSA entertaining the troops.
