I think we’re on the verge of a new wave of creativity in the synth world. These past few years have been dry to say the least and I think Mike Dean will give people more reasons to get inspired to create new ideas in this genre!
Honestly I learned about Mike dean only recently and lately I’ve found myself writing synth pieces I know I wouldn’t have made if I hadn’t come across Mike dean.
@@MikkelGrumBovin no one should, most people's opinions are shit and based on other people's opinions of other, slightly smarter people's opinions. Mad Dog Mike Dean is the one those slightly smarter people are copying.
I so love the lack of over-the-top production. Some of the small comments that may have seemed insignificant in editing really add to this whole experience. Good move keeping it raw.
First time in ages that I haven’t skipped through a synth video -both parts. This is what us players/composers enjoy watching and I think it’s fair to speak on everyone’s behalf.
Please keep making videos with mike dean, I love watching you guys go over every small thing in the studio. Its awesome watching 2 GOATs make some tunes.
For me synth goats are Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre, but Mike Dean inspires me to play every time i watched him in the studio. He is unbelievable.Thank you Mike.
Love Anthony’s reaction to the sound compared to his room. Priceless captured moment ❤️. I now truly get why he has his own VSX room which im now gonna purchase.
This. Is. Perfect. I enjoyed this so immensely! Thank you to Anthony, Rob, Mike, and the rest of the crew for making this happen. Truly an incredible time to be alive to witness history like this in the making. 🤘🏻✌🏻
@AnthonyMarinelliMusic Such a great video thank you very much for documenting and preserving timeless workflow. I first met Anthony when I was at WLAM store one… I worked under the late M. Spiwak. Such good times. What a class act. Thank you so much Anthony.
I learned about Mike Dean because I recently looked up who made the music for the rapper Scarface back in the 90's. Mike made some amazing tunes for Scarface's album The Diary.
I really like the way Anthony keeps asking new questions and bringing up interesting topics and small pieces of advice! It gives me the feeling of being part of the conversation and exploring the studio together with you! Anthony really has some interview skills as well!
Life changing footage !! Never heard of this dude before but the interview has realigned my musical path ! Can’t thank you enough Anthony keep dem coming. Joe Newman from Sheffield synth city
Thanks so much Anthony for bringing us such an amazing content, those 2 parts are just absolutely fabulous. He's the Goat yeah but you are too, you are a wonderful Human being and an incredible inspiration for us all. We all love you. Please don't stop your amazing content and go buy some antelopes, usb lights and midi cables Bro ! 😅 Long live synths, Peace you all, God bless you.
Favorite video this week! All three guys are so knowledgeable, all different in their personalities but they have the coolest dynamic going during their conversation.
36:27 This clip at the end says it all. Mike Dean has forgotten more about composition than I'll ever know. His talent is unparalleled. Thank you Mr. Marinelli for this two-part interview. (08/09/2024)
Although he improvises and wings it there is a lifetime of learning to have the skills to do it 🤔🤓. Loved a bit of accordian on the CS-80 ....🤖 👉🪗🤏 ....❤️ ..🦿🦿
Like these videos so much, so inspiring ! It’s like talking and learning from you and MIKE The goat. Thank u all. I’m gonna begin my adventure in the synth world. ❤️🔌
LOTS of knowledge here. My head is reeling. I got contact high for Sure ha... Damn, that CS-80 tho... oof. Also, those boards sound great going through the preamps. This was hella fun guys. Thanks again to all ✌️🤘🤘 and kill it Live, Mike 🤘😖🤘
Thank you for this video set, Now I need/want to buy more synths. First on the list to add to the collection is ahhhh, I can't think right now!!! Bravo!!
Thank you so much for these videos, so much useful info and great vibes, the buttery tones of these amazing synths is priceless! The playing is top tier
AGAIN, YOU MADE MY NIGHT. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. THIS TIME I'M GOING TO PLAY ALONG ON MY NEW MOOGS. I'm going to order those lights ASAP. my stacked synths are a nightmare to mess with when I'm creating in the dark.
I'm still trying to find the Thriller re creation talked about on the Marimba video. Weeks ago. What hasn't been mentioned is something I noticed in the 90s the marimba thing isn't actually playing the tune you think. It mixes with another sound and sounds like it's playing more notes. There two things going that interact.
Amazing room, thank you guys for the video! Me personally would spend too much time looking for sounds instead of making a song, I'm sure I'd spend 4 hours getting one patch that I liked. There are benefits to working in a computer in that regard though you sacrafice sound quality. Side note, I went into Dre's studio I think he had no more than 5 synths in there.
super inspiring content. So much to learn from you guys. Those synths are insane! I would love to see you build a simple minimalistic synth-rig from scratch. A few keyboards, mixer, effects, modules. Something to inspire young aspirering musicians. What would you buy today? Would you mix anything new with a few old? (to stay within a realistic budget for young people starting up). What is your favorite keybed/controller? There are so many half-good ones and so few expressive and good quality ones. Keep up the incredible work!
18:26 - when he's talking about it not being mono: My impression is that when he unplugged the right side, you could obviously only hear it on the left, but when he plugged it back in, the two sides' information almost cancelled each other out and the signal was now down the middle like mono...but maybe not 100% (possibly due to the different circuits that Rob mentioned). More like 99.95% which gives the impression of fully mono.....but not quite, like Mike was hearing.
He does up his rigs the way I do mine. I like to have my machines always on and ready as if they’re acoustic instruments, so I’ve purchased gear with that in mind. For me, it’s as easy as pressing a button and playing. I don’t like to jack with interfaces and computers constantly. All I have to do is open my DAW and press R and it’s all happening.
This is absolute gold. I love how authentic everyone is. There’s no bullshit. This is what people want, not 15 second clips that don’t say anything.
Well said Dude!
I think we’re on the verge of a new wave of creativity in the synth world. These past few years have been dry to say the least and I think Mike Dean will give people more reasons to get inspired to create new ideas in this genre!
I hope so. Not to say there's not good people out there. But it's nice to see more coming through.
If we all come together, we all win.
Honestly I learned about Mike dean only recently and lately I’ve found myself writing synth pieces I know I wouldn’t have made if I hadn’t come across Mike dean.
Im still learning from ,y Sub 37 MOOG and I bought it 13 years ago. I like to read the manuals from start to finish.
yeah, i just found out about Mike Dean and have a huge inspiration now to dive into my synths
Mike Dean is a chiller. The fact that he just casually rips a fairly clean ROOR mid conversation made the video.
He literally dontgivafuck what people THINK about him - His work shows why,- He´s Unique , and thankyou GOD for that !
@@MikkelGrumBovin no one should, most people's opinions are shit and based on other people's opinions of other, slightly smarter people's opinions. Mad Dog Mike Dean is the one those slightly smarter people are copying.
The annotations that clarify names like Forat, or the equimpemt discussed, is much appreciated.
Yup- it makes these video´s essencial !
I love this format, it’s like I’m in the room with you all
I so love the lack of over-the-top production. Some of the small comments that may have seemed insignificant in editing really add to this whole experience. Good move keeping it raw.
The greatest part of Anthony's Videos are the tiny diamonds hidden in the conversations.
First time in ages that I haven’t skipped through a synth video -both parts. This is what us players/composers enjoy watching and I think it’s fair to speak on everyone’s behalf.
"Beats, whadduyah mean?" - Mike Dean.
This could be an entire series, so much talent with these legends
4:54 "Vocoder" is the Digitech Talker from the 1990s. Those things went from $20 in the used bin to now close to $1,000! You can see it in part 1 too.
Shoutout to the crew lugging around all the gear making these videos! You guys rule!
What a great time to be alive 🙏
Talk about GEEKING OUT. I love it.
23:31 This is why no matter who you are, it’s great to have someone rocking with that knows a lot too.. To many gems in this video. Thank you guys 🤙🏽
I’ve always dreamed of a video like this where Mike Dean is showing his gear and studio setup! Thanks Anthony for making this possible 🤝
Too many legends in the room, synths and people. Awesome.
Love Anthony’s reaction to the sound compared to his room. Priceless captured moment ❤️. I now truly get why he has his own VSX room which im now gonna purchase.
I could listen to you and mike speak and make music for hours please make more if possible its so inspiring
Mike Dean is a legend. The Goats 🐐 in one place. Amazing.
This. Is. Perfect. I enjoyed this so immensely! Thank you to Anthony, Rob, Mike, and the rest of the crew for making this happen. Truly an incredible time to be alive to witness history like this in the making. 🤘🏻✌🏻
Mike literally inspired my music career with his sound , these videos make me feel like I’m in the studio with yall💯
The awkward comedy of this was great, what a set up!
@AnthonyMarinelliMusic

2 of the most pleasurable videos to watch. Full of tips and inspiration. Thank you SO much!
That was fun. thanks again Anthony. You have the most interesting synth related content out there and I think it can only get better. Cheers
I really like the way Anthony keeps asking new questions and bringing up interesting topics and small pieces of advice! It gives me the feeling of being part of the conversation and exploring the studio together with you! Anthony really has some interview skills as well!
He's right about Antelope.
And it's funny how he referred to Behringer as "that B company", lol
My lord that CS-80 is devastating.
I’m glad to have you two synth goats to look up too🌟
4 24 is his best work yet in my opinion. He really perfected his solo sound with that record. Distorted Time is probably my favorite track.
‘watching people and you learn’ is totally it, it’s great to listen to real characters talking about how it all works
Life changing footage !!
Never heard of this dude before but the interview has realigned my musical path !
Can’t thank you enough Anthony keep dem coming.
Joe Newman from Sheffield synth city
What a marvellous catch up (part 2)!!!
They're dropping so many gems in this session/interview! Thank y'all for this! 💎

This is so heartwarming. Anthony bro, you are a GOAT. So is Mike..... but you worked with Mike.
Amazing! Amazing artists and amazing talent. A true inspiration for young and old. A masterful example of unity in the world of synthesis.
rob rosen is soooo inspiring, what a tech !!

Hi Anthony, no comment on the first video but now it's the second and final one so... thank you. Great moments with Mike. 🙂❤
Fascinating to see. Thanks Anthony, for the cool stuff. The CS80 sounds incredible.
Check out the Solton MS4 from 1989. Very cool drum And rhythm machine.
That was so much fun. The outtro was mesmerizing.

7:39 anyone has a link for those led lights? :)
We want to know the name of the delay!
Inspiring as always, just been trying a few synths stacked with MIDI recently and must say that I am getting a huge sound. Thank you
Wow that was a really great tour interview lifestyle video, whatever that was... So happy you're doing all of these!

I’ve had those lights for awhile now. The remote is a new thing. Must come in handy.
“Super nerds” you guys are amazing. Thank you!
Anthony and the team, if at all possible, Christophe Beck on the channel would be incredible. Thanks for the great content!
You give so much Energy 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼🙏🏽

Fantastic- such a great watch. Thanks so much Anthony
Loved this 2 part hang at Mike's place. True synth nerdville but wild wild west at the same time.
Great stuff. What an amazing room full of magic.

Mike Dean is in my all time all genres top 4 music inspirations
