Alabama vs Texas Game Preview and Prediction 2023

It's time to talk Alabama vs Texas. Both teams didn't show their entire playbook in their Week 1 tune up game against MTSU and Rice respectively. Jalen Milroe had a great game in the previous week and Quinn Ewers is ready to show what he can do after missing most of the game last year with an injury. Game will be on ESPN in their primetime slot.

I think you’re right on the winner, but I think your model has it just right! Texas can’t rely on Bama committing anywhere near 15 penalties this year. I think Milroe’s passing opens up the run, mostly in the 3rd quarter. However, I think that Bama’s defense stays better rested in this year’s game, and stops Texas on multiple drives.

Alabama had 107 penalties last season with at least 15 penalties in the Texas game. Alabama last season was undisciplined on both sides of the ball. They also had Bill O'Brien calling predictable plays over and over in the game with a pass happy offense. Also, Alabama had Pete Golding who had an undisciplined defense especially in the secondary which contributed to the close game.
With all that going against Alabama last season they still won the game. This year Alabama emphasis is on domination and discipline football. Plus Bill O'Brien and Pete Golding are gone. Alabama is no longer a pass happy team. They have a balanced attack running and throwing the ball. The x-factor in this game is Alabama's motivation to show that the "Alabama standard" isn't dead. Plus they feel disrespected and they are playing in Tuscaloosa.
