More of us have been more like Miranda than others on TV with how awkward & silly we all are but we have just wanted things to go right & Tom Ellis is definitely Mr Right at times he seems just as silly & awkward as Miranda that's what makes the show so brilliant & lovely
From what I've seen that's more than good friends. you gotta hand it to Gary he tries so hard and takes 1 step forward & 2 steps back 1 day my friend 1 day!
Tom had a long career before he even picked up the script for Lucifer and he played many awesome characters, Gary Preston being iconic. Try not to be ignorant.
