Thank you so much for this. I'm not a bird breeder I just have one pet canary. I followed this tip and he absolutely loves it. I would never have known if not for this video. Thanks again
Well done and great Job Ray! You really helped me a lot , my females are doing great this year but something is not working right with the males, they’re late.
Just starting my shed this summer to try mules since young lad always bought mule to hang out to sing fab .This new colours and mukes with white all new to me must be a type of canary carries it
That's what is available for them to eat in the wild this time of the year, but the best thing you can give them before the reproduction period is stinging nettles, it's the most nutricious of all wild plant's you can even eat yourself mixed in rice or make tea, you probably won't but the tea is actually very good you should give it a try, you can also mix the tea in the water you provide to the birds
@@luboshcamber1992 stinging nettles tea 200 ml per liter of water, but if u can find stinging nettles that have seeds you can use that especially if some of the seeds are black, goldfinches feed on that seeds usually from February- march
Hi mate, it's my first go at breedin goldies this year. I have a pair in a flight and have them on skygold goldfinch mix and I've been giving them dandelions the way you do after watching your video so thanks for that. Any other tips for a first timer? Do you give them veg and fruit etc and if so which ones? Thanks
Good to hear we're sharing the goldfinch love,if you watch my egg food video, this is all I give my birds, plus multivitamins in there water.p.s will be up loading a new video on goldfinch mule season.
@@rayhole6577 thanks for the reply mate I'll watch it now I've got some canary nest pans up in some cover in the flight should I put a bit of nesting material in the pan or just leave it with nothing in. I've put materials in like moss that I've washed and hair etc.

Well done Mate! You want success you got give them this stuff!!
Other than extended daylight, Dandelion confirms Spring is here. I add nettles for the males. Vit E, Calc, Ferti-Vit, bath n sunshine.
Do you breed many native goldfinches in cages?

How long does it usually take for them to be conditioned? Assuming all the conditions are right in an indoor setting.
