It was 1.5 billion. A quarter of the Earth's population at the time. His "Aloha From Hawaii" concert was beamed around the world, via satellite to 40 or more countries. They all gathered in front of the TV to watch his concert. I remember if you were out shopping or whatever, people were all talking about getting home in time to watch him. There was no recording it for later. You had to watch it when it came on.
In 1973, the world population was less than 4,5 billion. So more than 1/3 of the population saw it.
In Africa they saw it in cinemas, etc.
Elvis sold over one BILLION records. The only singer 46 years after his death is still relevant!
Fun facts about this song. Mac Davis, the writer of the song, said Elvis added the "and his mama cries" at the very end, and that he liked that touch. He also said that the original way Mac said the word ghetto sounded like gheddo. Elvis did it with the hard T. Mac said it turned out just fine!💰💰😁😁

Elvis recorded over 700 songs. I can't pick a favorite because there's too many, but one of my favorites is the song "Memories," which he sang live on the 68 TV comeback special.
My husband and I chose Memories for my daughter’s wedding on our 32 wedding anniversary. He sings it in his soft baritone voice. So, beautiful he had everyone crying.
Memories... yes... love that one so much.. truly one of my favorites that is not heard very often.
This was a wonderful video to share with your daughter. One day she will look back on these times she shared music reviews with you and realize how special they were. Thank you for keeping his music alive for the next generation. ❤❤❤❤
Hello, Thank you. She is my little sister. There's a lot of families out there that have multiple siblings that go without talking to eachother. My goal is to create something for my siblings and I to get closer through these vids.
@@GuzmanReactions, what a great big brother. She is lucky to have you. ❤❤❤
All his peers called him the King, for good reason
it was a title given to him by white America.
Elvis grew up in poverty and could put his true emotion into this song
Love Elvis. Ever live video you get of Elvis you'll love . Hes sold more than anyone.
Elvis was amazing!
Love him wake up young lady he is the best in the world, thank you thank you both long live the king✌️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Elvis left a treasure trove of awesome songs.
I love that she loved this one!! I heard this when I was young and it's been my favorite and I'm now 50.
Please react to the short version of Elvis...A Generous Heart
Elvis Presley did the tour in Hawaii via Satallite in 1973 which 1.5 Billion people watched Elvis Presley sing.
Aww, she just melted my heart as the story unfolds to it. It's a great concept for a reaction album. I've seen other Elvis reactions by you guys but I can't remember off the top of my head so it's hard to know what to suggest but he's basically got an endless supply if you include audio tracks. He had at least 30 number one hits. And that doesn't even count all the ones that didn't make it to number one but were in the top 10 or the top 40 or the Billboard top 100.
Trying To Get To You sitting down with his early band members for a jam session during the 1968 Comeback special, that's really intimate. Heartbreak Hotel from that same segments of the show also shows a lot of his personality.
The last line "....another little child is born in the ghetto." Shows how often times the cycle continues.
A true classic , by the best entertainer & singer ever !!
Great reaction, please react to Elvis " It's Now or Never"
Unbelievable that this song is 50 yrs old.. and it still goes on today. How truly sad.
Thank you for continuing to react to the links I sent you. I appreciate it more than you know. 🤗
You will be surprised because I screenshot all of them and we will be reacting to most of them. Thank you!!!!
@@GuzmanReactions You're welcome
And Elvis never traveled the world either like all the others did and still as famous as the rest❤
Mac Davis wrote this song and first offered it to Sammy Davis Jr, but Sammy declined. He said he couldn't do the song cause he didn't know anything about growing up in the ghetto but, he knew someone that did know about the ghetto. So, Sammy told Mack to shop the song to Elvis. After it was a big hit, many others released their own renditions including Sammy. Sammy just felt the song should be introduced by someone who had grown up in the ghetto.
I've just watched the video on YT where Mac Davis talks about how he'd just written In The Ghetto along with 19 other songs on a tape recorder reel, (Don't cry Daddy) one of them, when Elvis' publishing company called and asked if he's got any songs Elvis could listen to, as he's going to Nashville and wants songs to record. In the Ghetto was offered to Elvis directly, first and foremost. Mac doesn't mention anything about offering the song to Sammy Davis Jnr and him subsequently rejecting it. The video is on YT.

Ok. I'll have to check that video out. What I said is the story I've always heard and seen in other vids.
Im Englischunterricht mußten wir diesen tollen Song ins deutsche übersetzen 🙏🙏🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸🙏🇩🇪
partly right. Mac offered the song to Sammy. Sammy refused it. Sammy said wtf does a white man know 1. to be black and 2. be black and live in the ghetto, he then said give it to that white boy Elvis.
Amazing reaction. More please 💕💕💕💕
So sad that history is still repeating itself. Beautiful song
Timeless and Powerful, nice reaction, Elvis Rocks! TCB⚡️
You guys are cute. Thanks for reacting to this song. His manager didn't want him to sing the song because there were riots and such a racial devid e in this country. He did it anyway. Another protest type song he did in 1970 Vegas is "Walk A Mile in My Shoes". Thanks and Be Blessed
He paved the way for the ones that followed
name them
Hey guys love your reactions ❤
Can you please react to
I Got A Feeling In My Body
Elvis and Michael Jackson
You will see how similar they are
The 2 Kings
Elvis - The King Of Rock N Roll
Michael Jackson- The King Of Pop
Those 2 will never be forgotten
Love you guys ❤
Thanks for yer reviews, Just a tip. If you want to watch any 50s, I would put HD And maybe Colourized. Much betteer quality. Thanks again.
Elvis was a phenomenon. A treasure gifted to us from the Gods. Irreplaceable. The GOAT ❤
LET IT PLAY...OMG!!!!!
Very good one ❤❤
Lissen to the Elvis song suspicion from 1963
Elvis' singing career was approximately 20 years before he passed away & Michael Jackson's singing career was approximately 40 years, twice as long as Elvis' career, yet Elvis sold nearly 2 billion records in his 20-year career & MJ sold less than half that amount even though his career was twice as long as Elvis' was.
Good Content! God Bless!

Here is another song from the Hawaii Concert in 1973.
