I LOVE the idea of living in an RV, especially since the cost of living all around me have gone up. I think we all can relate to some degree that life has gotten pretty hectic after 2020, and I’m really feeling that. I think I’m entering a different chapter of my life; I got a partner that I love, I got a decent paying job and I’d like to move out of my parent’s house. I’ve always had anxiety about affording something, but apartments can be bad (I’ve lived in one for over 10 years, believe me. It sucks not having much control over your own place…) I’m also anxious about a house, ‘cause loans and credit scores just overwhelm me honestly. I just want something to live in without the ridiculous rent and landlords and etc. I just want something simple. The few things that I have concerns about are where to park the RV long-term, how to get your mail, and how safe is it to live in (is it easy for someone to break in?) those are my main concerns honestly.
Parking and living in an RV is very dependent on the area where you live--you'll need to do some research on that. For mail, you can receive mail at some (or maybe most?) RV parks. You can also get a PO box. I think if someone really wanted to break into my RV, they could. I also used to live in an apartment with a security door and people did (on multiple occasions) break into that building. Unless you are living in a bunker, I think safety is an illusion. What really counts is having great neighbors and people around you--they will help keep you and your neighborhood safe.
Could you please do a video on finding long-term stays like you have in the Bay Area, California? Not knowing how to find parks that we could actually live in and not have to keep moving around is causing a lot of hesitation over buying an RV. Thank you!
Gosh, I think it's just so dependent on your local area + regulations. You'll have to do some research on that. In California, it's also common for people to park on land (like a farm) and live in an RV that way. Some homeowners rent out their driveway or backyard to RVers, advertised on Craigslist and such. All that depends on local regulations.
i am paying $395.00 mo in bullheadcity az rv park. includes all utilities, water, cable, trash, sewer, electric. pool laundry and small store. 160 rv spots here almost all fulltime.

Where in the world do you live that you have free water and buses? And such a low electric bill!?? OMG, when you factor those being so low or free, the rent doesn't seem so bad!
It took me forever to finally decide to buy an air fryer. I tried my sons out and fell in love. You can do so much with it. If you ever do decide to get one, I’m willing to bet you will love it. Great video.
I just have to say your camper is one nice space You learn and grow and do what make you happy if this is how you want it then I say do it if this is what makes you happy I say do it life is what you make it its not about the stuff its about the Quality time spent with your loved ones
I love it! I think that your experience in life regarding to the apartment cost it is exactly the way that I feel about it. Sorry if a make some mistakes in my English. I'm still learning. So, I'm planning to move to the US from Chile, in a changing life experience. And one of the things that I really want to change for my previos life experience is the debts. I really don't want to be trap in debts anymore in my life, so I'm more than willing to make the life changes needed to make that happen. Live with less it is definitely live with so much more for me, more time to go to the parks, to the museums, to the all the free and wonderful thing that the city could offer, and some of them will be never know for people trap in the dept style of living. So, thanks very mucho for sharing your Wonderful experience. I have only one question that I'm sure that you answer in other video but I will ask anyway: how much is your RV cost? Understanding that additional to that buying cost we have to add the rent and maintenance cost. And the other normal cost of living like electricity, gas, internet, etc. Thank in advance for your time.
We paid $20k for the RV. $700/month for rent, about $100 per month for electricity, and $50 per month for internet. So much cheaper than the normal costs in our area, northern California. Prices can vary wildly in various parts of the USA. Suerte con todo!

If I understand it correctly, you pay 700 for parking and 100 in interest, but what about the loan payment ( principal portion )? It sounds like the down payment was 50% and just wondering if the full monthly payment is factored in and how that would change the cost comparison ( I understand the principal portion is for buying the asset you eventually will own which is not purely just expense, but just want to understand the full cash flow impact!)
Fair question! Yes, because we own the RV (and even though it's a depreciating asset, nothing depreciates more than throwing your money away on renting) I didn't factor in the $275 in principal we pay per month on the loan. When we move we plan to either rent out the RV (on Outdoorsy) or sell it. We are leaning towards renting but want to give ourselves flexibility--you never know how life will change 🙂
Did you buy the current trailer used or financed a new one to replace the coachman? I see 100 for loan interest. Just curious if that's the total you're paying towards your rv or if rv cost is factored into rent cost

You're right to ask--don't think I said it explicitly. We rent a space in an RV park. It's $700/month and includes water, sewer, trash/recycling, and internet. We just pay separately for electric and propane. The incredible redwood trees come with the property 🙂
It’s the same here in Houston Tx But you can get free WiFi cable water and sewer, just pay electricity. They have amenities at the parks that they are now starting to charge like apartments since more people are considering a more Minimalist lifestyle. Pretty soon folks won’t be able to afford those either!
Gentrification caused vandalism? Please explain further, gentrification? I looked up the word, but I don't understand the context, in your situation. In our patch... when businesses move in, our economy improves. In turn, we/rural residents reap the benefits... more tax revenue from working-class residents moving in which support further businesses (jobs, food, clothing, gardening, hardware businesses... etc.). And in turn, our school system(s) blossom. Many of us don't like the "noise" of expansion... but our economy and quality of life does improve. I guess I don't understand why commerce/companies/jobs affects your locale adversely. Quite the opposite here. I live out in the sticks (not in CA), so I'm coming at this from a different geographic locale. When graffiti goes up (here), or a window is broken... police are called, and (typically) the perp is arrested and punished. If a perp habitually damages property, threatens a business owner, home owner or (God forbid) his family... we sort them out at the time of offense... then we call the police to clean up and file the report... and we are not admonished for defending ourselves. Gentrification? I appreciate how you live (travel trailer). I hope we too can do that one day (it does make financial sense - Lord knows we need some financial sense in this house). And I appreciate you investing the time to share your experience. But I suppose I'm turned off by your vernacular. Your vandalism bill is due to leftist policies which castrate your law enforcement and glorify your criminals (ie. "social justice"). How I know this... 3 out of 5 neighbors (way the hell out here) are former leftist refugees... who have fled the left coast's "gentrification" fallout and the politics that encourage it.

I moved into a 24 ft motorhome last year. No intentions of buying a home lol. Love this lifestyle much more.

In an RV park--everybody's got wheels! We have access to a septic system that works just fine and is included in our rent. Yay adventure! 😊

We bought it used! Didn't quite have enough cash to pay for it 100% so we took a loan for 50% of the cost.

Yay little bun buns! It helps that our rabbits are older and don't quite have the energy they used to. But yes, they do just fine in the RV 😊
