Please compare the total number of deaths caused due to the Indian railways, the total number of derailments, the total amount of track of the indian railways, number of passengers it transports etc in the last 30 years to get a full holistic sense of the performance of his and other railway ministers of the BJP govt.
      Train derailments were so common earlier that the media didn't cover it because it was almost a daily occurance. Lakhs of people used to die on the railway tracks until we started making bridges and grade separation for roads and railway tracks.

      The rate that you mentioned ie. 10 to 12% is not at all achievable in India in every practical sense. Why? Simply because India and Indian economy is a mixed economy, with lot of other issues that we need to spend money on. We are not a dictatorship or purely capitalistic society. We have to allocate some or more of our money in 0 income generating blocks of interest.

    • @anilbirwadkar
      @anilbirwadkar วันที่ผ่านมา +18

      It is only possible in an authoterian society. In India, because of democracy, you can say and do whatever you want, but still there are some people who talk about freedom of speech and the constitution on a daily basis and same wasted interests either from political party or who get support from them are blocking or delaying development projects.
      To achieve growth like China, it's necessary to silence any voices that hinder development, which India struggles to do due to democracy. This is why projects in India can take 20 years to complete due to political differences and corruption.
      So the bottom line is that you need an authoritarian system if you want rapid development, but if the ruler is wrong under that system, you need to be prepared to lose everything, just like Chinese citizens who have no voice when their government does anything wrong.

    We need 13% growth every year.
    I feel that the present set of ministers are tired as they are serving the same post for many many years. this is evident,when we look at the IDBI bank privatisation taking almost a decade, the privatisation of two PSU Banks still being on hold, not allowing Hindustan Zinc to decide when the government is a minority stake holder . these are just a few examples of the hiccups we have seen in the past 5 years. We need to be bold.
    You have a choice between
    1. Making a growth path in the next five years and not worry about elections , or;
    2. Just keep winning elections with 6-7% GDP.
    6-7% growth is the usual Indian travel path and its been happening for 7 decades on an average. We need a team which can move @ 13% ( Real GDP).
    Our country should speed up utilising our resources. Our Minerals, Mines, Oil reserves to be tapped. If we tap it in land, why do our people go to the gulf to drill oil and chemicals. The main vision of USA to grow in the future is 'Drill Baby Drill" and for china is that they are tapping their rare earth minerals and keep acquiring more. What is happening with our KABIL.? its been 5 years only news but no action.
    I along with other aspiring Indians stand with our country and the present government. I believe they will speed up GDP above 13%.
    Jai Hind.

      @@vs_3080Exactly. China is witnessing a slowdown now due to a haphazard unsustainable growth trajectory(their population is ageing and shrinking). Their economy is heavily dependent on export dumping now, which is seriously going to be challenged with Trump. India with structural reforms can grow at 8-9% real growth rate consistently, which is sufficient to become a developed economy before 2047.

      Why limit at 10% go for 15. But you have to be practical and pragmatic: we are in india which is the only true democracy among developing countries and we have a federal structure where CMS like Mamta, Lalu, all Congress ruled states, Kerala, do not understand economics. So we have almost 40-50% Indian states which are laggards and do not want to get out of mess they are in. Look at Bihar, where the people only believe in SARKARI JOB so complete lack of wealth creating activities or industries. MP and UP have come out of being laggards, next should be Bihar . Kerala and WB will be last

      Very true.
      India has not addressed major issues that include corruption in high places like Police, Bureaucracy. Corruption is all pervasive in India and will eventually halt all growth if not addressed. Modi govt seems to be forcussed on geopolitics, defense but has totally neglected the home front. No Police or Judicial reforms have even been thought of leave alone started! Bureaucracy needs a total overhaul. Both Police, Bureacracy have been inherited from the British and the same model continues (top down model good for ruling, not governance!).

      As an Indian, the ego-centric point you made is so accurate about us. I just returned back to India after 15 years working in America and Europe and nothing has changed in that regard. We are hardworking and smart people but we think 5x of ourselves than we are and therefore cannot take criticism from the outside...let alone from the inside. That has been the biggest sobering narrative for me since my return. We are doing 7/10 but we think we are 9.9/10 and it's sometimes hilarious to witness but almost always sad too.
