- Matthew West came to Bayside Community Church in Bradenton, FL on October 24, 2012. Here he presented the story behind the song "Forgiveness". Renee Napier, the lady the song was written for, was at this concert along with Eric Smallridge. Renee's daughter was killed by Eric in a drunk driving accident. Both discuss the power that forgiveness has had in their lives. Amazing testimony!

Wow! Her story hits home. I did not loose a daughter. But at 16 years old my 10 year old sister was hit by a car in a school crossing and died a week later. I carried that anger for 40 miserable years. Through several events and by the grace God I finally was able to forgive, was set free.
This is touching. I met Matthew West at a concert and he spoke with me and told me he would support me when I make it into music. Im honestly blessed to be typing this message eight months after meeting him. He is a GOD SENT blessing and an INSPIRATION to those WHO desperately need FORGIVENESS and a SECOND CHANCE at life. The only king who can do that, is Jesus Christ himself. He can set you free from the bondages of sin and shine his light on you to brighten up the darkness in your life. Worthy is the lamb that was slain for us. Praise him tonight.

I actually had the honor to meet Renee Napier and Eric Smallridge at my school in march and i was moved by their stories and by how God can really pull you out of that dark hole that you are in after losing a loved one. Forgiveness is the answer even though it is hard to do so. God loves each and everyone of us no matter the struggles in life.
This video is not about being or not being a Christian it is a way of life for me...organized religion has nothing to do with it...this song has helped me practice forgiveness of SELF and OTHERS...Thank you and Bless you Matthew West...

Tears flowing right now. Because of this video and their testimony I am going to my mother's home tomorrow asking her to forgive me and to tell her I forgive her. I have not seen or spoken to my mother in a year. She has been told she is not welcome into my home, nor to see her 5 grandchildren. Please pray for me because she is a very hard woman and I am afraid of her. She is not in good health, age 74, but can have a tongue like the devil. So please I ask for prayers. God Bless Youl

I lost my son just about 6 years ago. I listen to this song a lot. My son was killed by a nurse in 2016. I know I need to forgive it’s just so hard . I just can’t .
It is a process. Forgiving the nurse doesn't mean that what they did is swept under the rug. It doesn't mean they go free. It doesn't mean what they did can be now ignored. Forgiveness means that you let go of the hatred, bitterness and go to God and say "I can't do this anymore God, I can't hold onto these anymore, they are destroying me. God help me to forgive this nurse. I know that what has happened is crippling me, but I know you can hold me up". Unforgiveness is like wanting the other person to take poison but in reality it is us that is taking the poison.
I have lost people in my life and its the hardest thing to go through.
God in his infinite glory wants us to forgive. It is only through forgiveness we receive his grace.

this video was amazing and it brought me to tears, i wish the video was longer though. this video really spoke to me because my whole life has been darkness and right now i've kind of felt like God isn't there and he doesn't hear me. i don't understand why my life is the way it is. i'm not a born again christian, i wish i was but i'm not. i have little faith and i have a lot of doubt. i just wish i could be set free and finally be happy. i hope one day my life changes.

thank you, could you please continue to pray for me? my name is Elizabeth. i just have felt alone my whole life and nobody really understands me, not even my own family. i grew up in a dysfunctional home and I'm really broken. I'm full of anger, bitterness, and hurt, i just don't think God could love me. i feel like no one loves me, i feel empty and lost. I'm just wondering when my life will finally change. i wanna be set free from everything, how do i do that?
Cont.. 5..I blamed others for the event. Mom tried to be a strong helping parent and sent me to many family counslors who work with trauma. Nothing helped. I tried for 13 years stop thinking of the trauma. I had many days going on normal life. I tried on my own power even as a teen to earse the memoires. Some days were bad were I lost it and cried rember the trauma. Age 15," I thought my life is forever messed up. No matter how may times I said God erease the memoires, I had to change. Cont.5 .

Yeah... I have people I need to forgive. Feels so hard to due to what they did but compared to her story... My person to forgive is not like that. Oh well... She doesn't want to see me at all. So the best I can do is trust God to tell her that I forgive her.

cont..4... I forgot to say, when I prayed God help me early after the guy did you know.. I soon after heard A voice say," I love you will never leave you. If you do belive me one day you will". I soon new it was God. I had peace for 5 min. till the enmey said to me,"don't have peace". Till the enemey said,"be in hate" you have the right". I have been told by pastors I was specail hearing God a younge age/voices.

Mom cryed and said and prayed for me. She later that night called the peolice. That babaysiter lets say,"was in cop trouble. I for weeks after months after at time time tramatized after what happened. I told myeslf no think of it. Imagine a kid in trauma they repaly the scean in the head. I did. Cont.in 4

I pray you can forgive you too. Help them love thee unloveable and heal to who want them to be. Jesus name amen. Forgivenss is the joy of feeling freedom.

The babysitter was a man the neigbor. He was age 24 years old. He lets say in a cloesed room made some eveil actions towards me at age 3, only imagine what it was. No sibblings around.
