I wanted to add these to my comment, your mistake was that you didn’t ask for the land documents before you built. Your friend intended to take your land and house from the beginning so when you asked for the land document they got mad they wanted you to live there until both die so they would just keep the property, since that’s not the case it’s got ugly. Further if anything not in your name it’s not yours no hands or friendships cannot be trusted

The law in Cambodia pou. Is if you not Cambodian citizens. You can't buy house or land. What you should do is apply for Cambodia citizens fist. Because America allows duel citizenship. That mean you could be own both citizenship American and Cambodian. And before you build a house. You have to make sure you has a finger printed on the land document as the owners first.
