OXM was the best gaming magazine ever! You can tell they really went above and beyond to garner more adopters. We had them in New Zealand too and I used to go and read them at supermarkets as a kid haha and was routinely blown away by the all the sneak peaks of up & coming games as well as new releases! I still remember buying my first copy in order to see the first Halo 2 trailer, its development and interviews that were all featured on the demo disc! What a time to be alive in gaming!!

Some would say that's crazy but I say it's clear that you were totally immersed and captivated; having the best time being mindblown by what looked like a new revolution of FPS campaign gameplay, story and cinematography - hinting at so much and invoking vast mystery of what was to come. As great as the game turned out to be I must admit I was a little disappointed and felt misled by that trailer. I haven't researched it a great deal but I wonder if there was massive budget cut towards the end or if bungie was simply running out of time...
Man this made me feel so lucky to have been around for all of this. I regret not appreciating everything at the time but grateful for people like you to fill in the gaps.
Completely agree. When in the moment it's hard to appreciate it all, but I'm also grateful we experienced it. I think 50 years from now our generation will be regarded the most fortunate and spoiled of all generations. We had it all, and it was all great.
Honestly, I've seen many people cover many great XBOX memories, but no one has covered the demo discs. You bring such a nostalgia and joy to me with these reviews. The demo disc's were really how I experienced a lot of games. Thank you so much
These Xbox demo disc videos have been my favorites recently. When I was a kid, my dad's friend had a jailbroken Xbox that had all the demo disc content on it too. It's good to see discs I haven't experienced before. Keep up the great work!
Yager was a largely overlooked and underrated game, especially for what the gameplay offered. Used a lot of Xbox horsepower, I don't think was possible on competition consoles at the time.
Yea there's another good Xbox game that didn't have very good advertising. There's a number of games on Xbox that weren't advertised very well for some reason. I don't think it was well understood then how to market these games.
I just dug out all of my OXM demo discs to put in my new media shelving I built, I forgot how many I had lol. These things were so awesome back in the day before you could just go online to watch game trailers and videos or download demos. Tons of cool stuff on these discs and they only get more packed from here lol keep these demo disc videos coming!
Yeah instead of waiting for a trailer to buffer for hours you could just pop in a disc and watch a trailer. I guess what interests me about these discs is that there's still a lot of content on these that are hard to find now. I plan on making this a monthly series so be sure to be on the look out for more!
@@campxbox Yeah I remember when the issue that had the disc with that very first Halo 2 teaser on it came out. I must've watched that teaser trailer a thousand times, it was so good.
how i said before: I would LOVE to enjoyed this Generation back in the day. Especially with the Magazines. Damn I miss that! But back in the day i was more on PC so i missed PS2, OG Xbox and Gamecube. it came back years later when i bought a used 360 which didn't have the Red Ring. - sadly i sold it later but now i'm back on the Xbox Gen :)
I miss Xbox magazine. I also miss my Game Informer. I paid for the membership and told them at the store I want the magazine sent to my house. She said they're all digital but you can pay an extra $5 to get the physical copy. What a huge load of BS. I've not gotten a magazine all year and I haven't even gone to game shop to even use my Pro membership.
Yeah I’d love to see a new The Thing game. I do remember in the early 2010s Universal made a direct prequel to The Thing that was just called The Thing and that movie was awful. I think Blumhouse is making a new remake and hopefully it carries the spirit of the original 50s The Thing from Another Planet and the superior Carpenter film.
Yeah unfortunately when recording the disc I noticed the audio sync issue on the Xbox Unleashed section and The Thing. Hopefully I can get a recording eventually of it running perfectly, but every try with my disc had desync issues. I thought it was fine as is just to preserve it for now.

Yeah it was an incredible time! I had to have watched that Halo 2 trailer over 100 times, I was so amazed.

Yeah Game Informer was a good one too. I haven't gotten a copy in forever though.

Huge audio sync issues with this.... Hope it can be fixed.

This is unfortunately a common issue when ripping videos from dvds to uploadable files. I speak from experience.
