I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and our property taxes for a postage stamp sized lot are over $13,000 a year!!! That is why we are looking to move to the northeast TN area in about 2 years, it will be so nice! 😊
@@alissawhite8772We live on a 9+ acre property, in a 1900 sq. ft. chalet-type house, that we built in 2010. I originally bought the land in 2000, for $40k. It came with a 2 bd mobile home, and had the electricity, water and septic system installed. Paid that off, used the land for collateral, borrowed $200k, and put a house atop the ridge. ( We kept the mh in place, and are renting it to a family member for $400. It would bring 650 to 700 on the market.) The mortgage is 900 per month,, but we're paying 1200, to shorten the term and save on the interest. The tax appraisal is roughly 250k, and the tax is about $1322 per year, I think. We bought a half acre that was "carved out" of the original plot by the owner (for one of his children), but we have kept it separate on the deed. If we somehow defaulted on the loan and lost the house, we will still have the half acre. The tax on it is about $60 / year, as it remains unimproved.

Great video. As a northeast TN resident, I’m often amazed at how much higher property taxes are in other parts of the country.
