Stayed 1 Night at 6 On Adams. Drove from Taupo checking in Thursday 26 December, and checked out Friday 27 December and loved Mount Maunganui so much we didn't leave until the late afternoon of Friday before driving to Auckland to continue the rest of our summer holiday.
It surprisingly takes about 20 minutes to walk from Mount Maunganui Shops to the base of the mount. Then another 25 minutes to walk up to the summit. No matter how young we are, everyone was carrying a sweat walking up the mount (not dripping, but a thin layer covering our arms/legs. Most of us made a couple of short 2 minute breaks to drink water or a quick break. But the reward at the top is well worth it!... Unfortunately there are no Lifts, no escalators, and no gondola to the summit.
